the garmin forerunner 50 is a must have for runners!

Advantages: good info display, easy to read when running
Disadvantages: watch is a little chunky, beware of dead battery on arrival!

...i purchased the garmin forerunner 50 after a couple of weeks of pondering and reading reviews about it. the reviews were at times mixed but i guess you will get that with everything. anyway here are my thoughts on it: i run on average 4 miles a trip 3 times a week. so i wanted something that would keep me up to date on how i was getting on- the garmin forerunner 50 does this brilliantly. its a simple little set up- there is a usb pen, a footpod and a watch. the footpod clips to your training shoes, the watch records information from the footpod and the usb pen recieves data from the watch upon completion of excersise and transfers it to your pc. clip on your footpod, set your watch to train, wait for a little foot symbol on the watch display and off you go! the watch functions as a readout from your foot pod. it can give you...

Advantages: Excellent training aid for heartrate, pace, speed monitoring and recording
Disadvantages: Altimeter not 100% correct

...An excellent training aid. This item gives you heartrate, speed, time taken, lap times, for running, biking, and other sports. This can be downloaded to the included software as your training log and then uploaded to websites such as Google earth where you can view your training mapped against satellite images. I aren't too sure of the accuracy of the altimeter part of the satellite navigation product, but that does not bother my training too much. Another good feature is that on the website mapmyrun.com you can save your run course that you created and upload it to your Garmin and then train against the training pace buddy, with the Garmin telling you if you are behind or in front of the pace that you set. Excellent GPS package at great price

...When I decided too buy this product, I wasn't specifically looking for a handheld computer, I was after a decent (but inexpensive) GPS satellite navigation system; and the Acer n35 is not only the cheapest GPS-equipped handheld, it's actually cheaper than most dedicated sat-nav systems, so the fact that this device functions as a computer with numerous other facilities is a pure bonus! You can easily pay £400 for a dedicated portable sat-nav system like the Tom Tom Go, and similar amounts for sat-nav equipped handhelds, but the Acer can be had for as little as £240 brand new with full guarantee. You see already the main economic advantage, especially when you compare it to the four-figure sums that car manufacturers charge for built-in sat-nav systems.... The Acer n35 is basically the n30 without BlueTooth capability...

In a couple of seconds it was displaying "Ready to Navigate" Since then, about 10 days ago, I have covered over 2,000 miles and have not lost reception once, including the wooded section of the A350 just north of Shaftesbury in Dorset, where I always lost signal for about 2 miles. I have noticed some of the plating wearing off the plug, exposing bare plastic. This is because It is not a good idea to leave the SAT NAV in the car when parked, so I have to take the cable out if I park somewhere dodgy, like city centres.
