...After another argument with the little lady I was feeling stressed and in need of some TLC. "Right that?s it" I shouted, "We are going away for a night". To which she replied "where?? She had a point, i am only 21, I can?t drive and i am not rich in any way shape or form. Despite this I really needed a break from reality. The Christmas bonus had just been deposited into my bank account so I thought of the closest 4 star I could think of. "We are going to that big hotel on the Wroxham Road" said I not knowing the name at the time. So off we went, as we pulled down the seemingly endless drive from the main road I thought gosh this looks different to any hotel I had ever stayed in (i am more used to forte pothouses or similar!!). ...This review covers my stay of two nights at Kununurra Country Club Resort, which is located near Lake Argylle in North West Australia. I stayed here during a coach tour of the Kimberleys, so I didn't book direct with the resort. It is set in green, well-tended grounds, with lots of palm trees. There is good security with high fences around the resort, but even so, management advises guests to keep doors locked to discourage petty theft. In my part of the world we are spoilt for choice when it comes to courses and there are ones to suit all standards and pockets. Chelsfield Lakes is a pleasant pay and play course that will satisfy most golfers from beginners to good players. I came across a Spa deal at the Langdale Hotel and Country Club near Ambleside (39 miles from us), and thought that this sounded like just the thing I was after. The website I have to say is excellent, and if you do decide ever to visit then certainly check it out, there are photos (although saying that they can make it look a bit better than it is!) of everything ? rooms, spa, restaurant. Plus it is regularly updated. (not full size - most holes approx 150 - 300 yards) The grounds are extremely well kept and looked after and provide a tranquillity of the English countryside away from the hustle and bustle of 'real life'. The hotel also has a country club next to it. It has its own separate rooms but is open to guests of the hotel also. It has its own lounge, which also does lunch, and provides facilities such as pedicures, manicures, indian head massages, massages, table tennis, a swimming pool and gym and clubs for the golf course and range This is a lovely country club and we spent the sunday just relaxing in the lounge, playing golf and my fiancee had a manicure/pedicure which she loved!!! There is wireless internet access in the hotel but we didn?t use it as it was £6.50 per hour (or £15 for 12 hours) so for how long we were staying we didn?t think it was worth it even though I had my laptop with me. There are also 2 computers with internet access in the reception area and this starts from £3 for 15 minutes. The hotel seems to be a popular location for weddings as we saw 4 wedding parties in the 3 days we were there. I can see why though, as the hotel is set in beautiful grounds. Overall I thought this was a lovely hotel but we found that it is not as good as the Marriott?s outside of the UK. However, I would definitely still recommend this hotel as we all had a pleasant stay.
