Mollet De Valles - Barcelona -Formule 1
Advantages: Cheap, on the main stretch to Barcelona centre, relaxing and functional.
Disadvantages: get booked up very quickly in summer, no lift to floors.
...As this is the first review for this Formule 1, I'm going to make it a good one.
We have stayed there many time's and always got a good nights sleep.
These hotels offer exactly what people need, clean rooms, warm, comfy beds with TV, Basin and mirror in each room. There are half a dozen toilets and about 3 showers per floor (so not for those who don't want to skip down a corridor to the loo) and they even supply the washing soap and towels. In each shower there's a massive dryer to do the whole body!!! The corridors and rooms are all carpeted so your feet don't get cold on the way to the shower. The toilets and showers are all on an automatic cleaning cycle and several times a day the doors are automatically locked (when there's no one inside) and the rooms are blasted with water!!!
My father suffers from a breathing problem so...

Good concept and affordable
Advantages: Cheap. Sleeps 3 people. Self service breakfast
Disadvantages: Basic facilities. Architecturally all similar
...are very basic sleeping up to three people. There is a large double bed, an upper bunk, a sink with a mirror, TV with remote control, a corner table, and a shower area and wc a few steps away from your room.
Breakfast is in a buffet self-service format with fresh, crispy baguettes, butter, jam, coffee or hot chocolate, tea and a orange drink and is served between 0630 and 1000 am.
This chain,of course, has numerous outlets in France and in other European countries and undeniably offer value for money. You get see-is-what -you-get pricing,no frills accommodation and a night's stay which clearly is appealing more and more to leisure travellers and even some business visitors. By avaoiding frills such as health centres, swimming pools, porterage, and labour intensive room service, Formule I can keep their operating costs down for the benefit...

A Formule for success?
Advantages: Cheap, close to motorway
Disadvantages: Very few facilities
...I was looking for a cheap hotel in the area of Abbeville after my husband discovered it was about £50 cheaper (at least) for us to get the ferry to France on a Friday night than early on a Saturday morning, presumably because of all the day-trippers. I'd heard of Formule 1 before, and seen many of their hotels around on previous journeys through France, so decided to check them out.
Background
Formule 1 hotels can be seen across France, and are also available in other European countries, including the UK, Germany and Spain among others. For those of you travelling slightly further afield, there are Formule 1 hotels in Brazil, Japan, South Africa and Australia too. They're easily identifiable by the bright yellow colour scheme they all seem to use, both on the website and on the buildings themselves.
They use a consistent...

"Lille De France" - Geddit?
Advantages: Near London by train, cosmopolitan feel, excellent transport connections, eating out, plenty to see
Disadvantages: Dog poo
...I?ve now been to Lille three times in the past year or so, each previous time, merely for the day. Only over the last weekend did we stay overnight.
Why Lille? Well, rather like the reason dogs lick their naughty bits, it?s because we can.
Lille is the first main stop in France on the Eurostar/TGV route from the Channel Tunnel ? yes, I know you could get a train that stops at Calais (Fréthun), but that?s like getting out at Bristol Parkway and expecting to be in Bristol!
Gare Lille-Europe arrives outside your train window 1 hour and 40 minutes after London Waterloo International disappears. Stage 1 of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link (CTRL), means that we now get to hurtle through Kent at 186 M.P.H. before slowing to a mere 100 M.P.H. to shrug off the 32 miles of tunnel in a mere 20 minutes.
Doing 'a ton' MORE than even the over...

Hossegor, France
Advantages: Beats any British beach holiday hands down
Disadvantages: Strong currents on some days
...My family and I started going to Hossegor, (which is situated in the Bay Of Biscay, SW France), when I was about 5, way back in the mid 80's. Well, up he coast a tiny bit from there actually). We always stay at the same place when we're there. Its a 4star campsite called Le Vieux Port.
The campsite has everything that you'd need. Even as young children we always had something to do.
The entance consists of a long kind of driveway, along which runs a football pitch, crazy golf and a mini go-kart thing for the kiddies. It all looks very classy, with flags from different countries running down both sides.
Then you approach the reception and main bar areas of the site. The campsite has one very very nice bar which is never too crowded, but always is full of atmosphere. There are often live bands playing here (most...

Lyon- France's alternative city break.
Advantages: Wonderful city
Disadvantages: Pollution
...mean when I say Paris is really easy to get around. Lyon is just the same. Plus, not only is it quick, it is cheap. One journey costs ?1,30. Lyon has its own Metro and Tram systems; not to mention an unbelievably efficient bus system. If you buy one ticket, it is in fact valid for all of these modes of transport within the Lyon area. Plus you can do multiple journeys on one given mode, so if in fact you want to change metro lines, you can do so on the same ticket. It is very impressive that you can cover France's second largest city for less than £1! Car rental is of course an option but in all honesty, you should really look at using public transport because the roads are chaotic for a start and it is so convenient.
Places to eat
As we all know, the French love their food and they are great at preparing it too! The 'Centre...
