KRK's Rock my world

Advantages: Beautiful clear sound, compact, sturdy, great connections.
Disadvantages: none

...So i went to a pro-audio shop and listened to a few speakers (MSP5's, Genelec's, and fostex pm1's) but when they put these particular model on, i was blown away, i had the new boards of canada album to use for reference (amongst other cd's), and boy did it sound like it should have. The stereo imaging of these monitors is great, the low frequency response goes allt he way down to 50hz so is more than adequate for most project studios, and the top end is so clear that you can hear every detail of the track which you are listening to. To top this off i have been using these for around 8 months now, and every time i listen to my work i hear something new appear, they do not fatigue your ears at all and you can happily spend a 4 hour session with them at a fair volume. Review of KRK K-Rock KR-V6

A little gem

Advantages: Great sound, amazing price, portable if required.
Disadvantages: Low power - not for inefficient speakers

...with excitement and drive. I actually found it distracting to try to work at my PC as I kept looking up as each singer or sound was so clearly located in space. With these speakers, bass was clearly limited, so I needed to check what the amp could really do. This is only a 5 watt amp for practical purposes, so speakers must be efficient to pair with it. I was currently building a pair of double bass reflex speakers using the Fostex FE83e units and Fostex enclosure design, and these looked to be an ideal pairing. Once this set up was in place in my main listening room, using good quality speaker cable (but not heavy gauge - because of spring connectors), and a Denon CD player as a source, the sound was brilliant. All the previous items that I had identified were there, plus a wider soundstage and solid bass. I have only used the amp and speakers...
