Colour Adapt Foundation?
Advantages: good pump on bottle to aid application, long ;asting
Disadvantages: hard to blend, quite thick
...I went for a Max Factor Foundation as I knew the brand as was intrigued by the 'colour adapt' part of the labelling. As I had previously found it hard to find a foundation that matched and complemented my skin tone (I'm fairly pale in skin colour), this appealled to me as I'm always keen to avoid that over made up look.
The bottle looked good, with a pump for easy application. I went for one of the paler shades, that looked to match my skin tone fairly well. The foundation itself was actually a lot thicker than I was used too, and quite powdery. I thought that this would be good as it would avoid the greasy look that some foundations had given me in the past after a few hours wear,
The thickness of the foundation meant that I actually found it pretty hard to apply. It was difficult to judge the reight amount that would give me...

Best foundation yet!
Advantages: Great colour
Disadvantages: None
.../\/\/\ Max Factor - Colour Adapt Foundation /\/\/\
Price: £11.95 - Sainsburys (may be cheaper elsewhere)
34ml tube
I tried 70 - natural
What is it?
This is a foundation that apparently adapts to your own skin tone. I've seen this advertised on television but had not got around to trying it out.
I've recently tried the Age Renew which I found to be very silky on the skin - a little too silky for me. This also made me look shiny in photos. This is what made me choose the Colour Adapt.
Also lot of foundations seem totally the wrong colour. Maybe 'colour adapt' could sort this problem for me.
Packaging:
This foundation comes in a 34ml clear tube. It's quite a large container. You can see the colour of the foundation through the clear part at the top of the packaging. The front of the packaging...

Max Factor Colour Adapt Foundation
Advantages: Evens skin tone, looks quite natural, a little goes a long way
Disadvantages: Caused me to break out, encouraged oilyness, didn't stay on amazingly long
...Ah, the delights of teenage skin. Never know what it's going to do next. One day it's dry, flakey and tight feeling, the next you wish you had a spatula to scrape all the oil off. Not to mention oh so stubborn blemishes.
I personally have all these things going on, combination skin basically, and I've always had trouble keeping spots at bay. Don't even get me started on clogged pores or blackheads! Don't I paint quite the picture?
Anyway, now I've recently started bringing a biiiit more money into the house, I decided it was worth going out and treating myself to a more elaborate foundation.
Meandering around all the makeup counters in Boots, I was completely lost. So much to choose from, I can't even decide what skin type I have nevermind what I'm supposed to put on it...so I decided to ask a representative at the Max Factor...

Rimmel Recover Foundation
Advantages: Nice consistency, gives even coverage
Disadvantages: A little sticky when worn alone, doesn't last 12 hours
...Rimmel is a well-established, respected brand, especially within the UK. It's fairly expensive, but with products like makeup, most girls (maybe some men too!) find that the more you spend, the more beautiful you look.
This foundation is part of Rimmel's cosmetics, and found easily within supermarkets, drug stores, and beauty stores in the makeup sections. It's on sale for around £5.60-£5.80, fairly expensive for not a particularly big bottle, but when you take a look at Maybelline and Bourjois foundations, this is generally cheaper.
I use this foundation daily. I have very light skin, and have always had a bit of trouble finding a light enough foundation to match. There have been a few foundation incidents where I have looked a bit orangey! I tried and tested many different foundatons on my vanity-driven quest to find the perfect...

Foundation
Advantages: Facinating Concepts, Well Detailed Universe
Disadvantages: You may not own the other volumes to see what happens
...Introduction:
This is the first of Issac Asimov's Foundation series, comprising Foundation, Foundation and Empire, Second Foundation, Foundation and Earth and the Prequels, Prelude to Foundation and Forward the Foundation.
Although this book stands alone, reading Prelude to Foundation (written 30 years later) first will enhance your enjoyment of the book as it fleshes out much of the rich backstory.
Basic Plot:
The book begins with the trial of a man named Hari Seldon who has predicted the doom of the Galactic Empire which has stood for thousands of years as the pinnicle of human achievement.
He uses his own science of Psycohistory, a science that can predict future events on a large scale buy the statistical analysis of the likley behaviour of large groups of people. This however only works provided that the people...

Perfectly blending soft foundation
Advantages: Perfect consistency, great coverage
Disadvantages: Slightly OTT on the price
...of a working woman's twinset and pearls, suggesting that this product is perhaps not aimed at the younger woman.
--What does the promo say?--
" Don't Mask Your True Colours. Match them.
Your skin isn't the same colour all over so why use a foundation that is? Colour Adapt flatters and works with every shade of your face to create the most natural looking base ever. The secret? Clever colour adapting particles pick up and reflect the different pigments in your complexion to give a totally sheer look without masking your skin's true radiance."
--Application--
Come on, we've all seen a pump-action bottle before. We all know how it works. Push the top of the pump down until enough of the product appears at its end. Apply to face using your desired method (fingers, brush, sponge...).
--Appearance--
While the product appears quite...

Max Factor Colour Adapt Foundation - a pleasure to use!
Advantages: Blends perfectly; really works to adapt to your natural colour
Disadvantages: None
...I have tried number of different brands and types of foundation over the years. I first used Max Factor Colour Adapt when I got a free sample of it after buying some other Max Factor products.
Colour Adapt comes in five shades: Creamy Ivory, Warm Almond, Blushing Beige, the uninformatively-named Natural, and Golden. It claims to adapt to your natural skin tones to provide a natural finish.
The free sample I received was Natural, which is a bit darker than my actual skin tone. I have very pale skin so I thought the sample would be useless. I decided to try it anyway. I applied a very small amount by putting small dots of it on my face and blending it in with my fingers. The product looked quite dark beige, but when I began to blend it in, it looked absolutely fine with my skin tone. I didn't look orange or have any harsh lines...

A Firm Foundation.
Advantages: Smooth matte finish
Disadvantages: None if you choose the right shade for your skin!
...Yet another addition to my ever expanding make-up box.
~ Price ~
Currently £4.49 for a 30ml tube at Boots.
~ Rimmel Matte free Foundation ~
Rimmel have a wide variety of foundations available but in the matte finish foundation you have the option of choosing a pressed powder in different shades or the liquid foundation which I opted for as I find that sometimes, the pressed powder foundations dry my skin out too much.
The liquid variety comes in a range of colours:
* porcelain
* sand
* nude
* soft beige
* warm honey
* natural beige
I've found a good site which gives you an idea of the tones that these come in as it's hard to know just from the names of them. Worth taking a look at www.mysimon.com
~ What do Rimmel promise? ~
* Matte, shine free finish
* Combats oil break-through
* Oil free
* Gives up to 6...

My Ideal Foundation...
Advantages: SPF 10, stylish design, has lasted a while, not too greasy, practical (fits in bag) etc
Disadvantages: Has cracked down the side (although hardly visible), quite expensive
...Avon Ideal Shade Mousse Foundation Stick
Some of you may or may not know, from reading some of my other reviews, that I am an Avon representative. Because of this I own loads of Avon products, probably too many! I really love my make up, especially foundations as I never feel too confident until I am sure my skin looks its best.
I've tried many foundations, minerals, liquids, some which I don't even know what on earth they were! But I have to say this handy little stick is very good, so I've decided to write a review about it. Happy reading!
Why Did I buy the Ideal Shade Mousse Foundation Stick
My Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse foundation was running out, and I urgently needed a new foundation before there was none left. I do have lots of others, I admit, but there all either too greasy, too orange or too white. I...

Finally a good foundation that is pale enough for me!
Advantages: Great range of shades, Great coverage, Fair price, Suitable for most skin tones.
Disadvantages: None that I can think of.
...I usually have trouble finding foundations to match my very pale, cool toned skin. Most foundations on the market today are a few shades darker with warmer, more yellow undertones. After a long day of stopping at every department store counter only to be told "I'm sorry, it doesn't look like we have a shade pale enough for you..." I decided to head to Boots and take a look there too. Rimmel's were all too orange, Revlon's didn't have the right coverage available and Maybelline irritates my skin. I almost gave up (again!) until I saw the Max Factor display.
Colour Adapt is sold as 'skin tone adapting make-up' that is said to adapt to your individual skin tone to provide a flawless look that it 'perfectly you.' Sounds promising - and the best part? The shade 40: Creamy Ivory was a *perfect* match for my skin and at only £11.95 for 34ml...
