My favourite foundation so far!

Advantages: blends beautifully, perfect match, lasts agesss
Disadvantages: expensive and Mac counters are crap

MAC Select SPF 15 - worth it for the shade!

Disadvantages: awkward pouring; more expensive than average

...Until recently, I'd sworn by L'oreal foundations, and found these to sit well and last the day. However, as is the case with a lot of brands, the shades were always just a touch too light or too dark. I was drawn to Mac because of the range of shades on offer. Mac Studiofix Foundation

Advantages: Not too heavy on the skin, has SPF and makes your skin look great
Disadvantages: It's a bit pricey for a student budget

...I bought the Mac foundation over Christmas, and I'm not usually the type to spend more than £5-10 on a makeup prdduct because I'm a bit stingy. I used to think that Mac foundation might be too heavy on my skin since I don't really need a lot of makeup. Also I have sensitive skin, but Mac's foundation does not give me any break outs or problems whatsoever! Its great for sensitive skin in my opinion. All of my preconceptions about Mac changed once the makeup lady used the foundation on me I was amazed at how great it looked! Murad Correcting Moisturiser SPF15

Advantages: It reduces redness
Disadvantages: Nothing its amazing

Best foundation on the market

Advantages: fantastic range of colours, non oily, great coverage

...I never really thought about foundation until I had a Mac makeover and had this recommended for me. Because Mac products were originally developed for use at fashion shows etc they are of an incredibly high standard. First of all, I have to mention the sheer amount of different shades they have. I have yellow toned skin, and had before had to use pink toned foundation, but at Mac there was a shade that pretty much perfectly matched my original skin tone. The consistency of the product is really nice - it's not too thick but not too diluted. It goes on really easily, and also I was told by the girl at Mac that it 'lets your skin breathe' - I would agree, as my skin has actually cleared up since switching to Mac foundation. There aren't many bad points, but I would say that it's very pricey - £19, I think. Also, it smells a bit weird...

Almost Foundation ... Certainly Make Up

Advantages: Blends well, isn't heavy, protects against sun related skin damage
Disadvantages: Can get water-y (separates), expensive, middling coverage

...neutral - there is a slight moisturiser/chemical smell, but nothing offensive, and not terribly noticeable, especially once it's applied. It goes on well, and blends easily, as you'd expect a product with the consistency of moisturiser to do. It does not cover as well as a 'proper' foundation, though it does a reasonable job of correcting the dark circles under my eyes (though I do still use a cover stick for those, as the coverage isn't complete). I don't always (and by 'always' read 'often') remember to moisturise. Many moisturisers come with an SPF factor - the fact that I forget to use mine means that I'm grateful for the SPF 15, thus hopefully protecting my skin from aging (though, having said that, since I seldom wear make up, it's a bit of a moot point). My skin is fairly dry (and I'm in my early 40s), and I find that this stuff does...

This is one of the best foundations out there.

Advantages: Stunning coverage, lovely matte finish and lots of different shades to find the right one for you.
Disadvantages: It's expensive, (but worth it) Watch out for MAC fakes on eBay!

It gives a matte finish and the shade matched my skin tone well, and I made sure I blended it in well on my jaw line and around the edges. I was happy to find my friend was right, you only need to use a small amount and it goes far, blending in nicely.
