Four parents, one Christmas

Advantages: Brilliant main actors, great storyline, fun festive film
Disadvantages: Lack of chemistry between Vaughn and Witherspoon, most of comedy in trailers, got a bit silly

...Brad and Kate are a happily in love couple who enjoy having fun without the responsibilities of marriage or children. For three years they've successfully managed to dodge the unwelcome Christmas season usually spent with family and have jetted off to many exotic locations. This year, having told each set of divorced parents that they won't be able to make Christmas again due to important charity work, they excitedly pack their bags ready for a hot Christmas in Fiji together. Four Points, none of them good points!

Advantages: You're only visiting...remember!
Disadvantages: Dirty, unkept, unhelpful staff, dodgy kitchen workers.

...Three words to describe this hotel, "Oh my God!!" Want more? OK, here we go, My wife & I went to the Four Points Miami Beach for a few nights post cruise. After having an exceptional holiday on the Freedom of the Seas we found ourselves "dumped" in the hotel from hell. Upon arriving at around 9am we were told our room wasn't ready as it was still occupied. We did book the hotel 10 months in advance so we didn't expect that. We had to leave our luggage in a little storage room and find something to do so we went to have a look around outside. At the back of the hotel is Miami Beach just beyond a boardwalk. Nice as it looked, there was no one around to deal with deck chairs and parasols. It doesn't matter anyway because our room wasn't available to get changed into suitable clothing. To the right of the hotel was a building site...

Fantastic Four

Advantages: good action film, special effects
Disadvantages: purists maybe upset

...Four (Mr. Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, the Human Torch and the Thing) are born, as well as new arch villain Dr Doom. Initially I had been told lots of bad things about the Fantastic 4 film. That it was not worth seeing. That it was a lemon of a film, and that it was not a true depiction of the Fantastic Four characters from the comics. The last of these reasons (to me) would not be very high on my reasons for not seeing the film as I had not read any of the comics and so I didn't know the true story of the characters, also this was a theatrical release and so would probably upset the purists anyway no matter how it was done. However I was still not completely confident when I inserted the disk. But how did it fair? I must say I was pleasantly surprised by the film and the different "take" it had on the other superhero films I have...

Four Bothers

Advantages: Some good stunt sequences
Disadvantages: Terrible acting, writing and direction

"Four Brothers" may be the nadir of John Singleton's career, showing none of the visual flair or love of storytelling that characterised his first film. It is a travesty of writing, acting and direction that feels like a sordid glorification of brutality in the guise of justice. I felt like my intelligence was being insulted as I watched it - are audiences really stupid enough to believe that the characters are justified in their actions? Sadly the box office returns suggest so. As does the fact the viewers are willing to sit through nearly two hours of overblown yet undercooked action. ...~ Spilt in Four ~ Last night after a hard day job hunting and having interviews, we went to our local blockbuster and rented four films for £10. One of these which we watched last night was ?Four Christmases?. I remember this coming out a while ago and thinking it looked quite funny but forgot all about it till now. What made me noticed the film was mainly the famous cast and the plot. The cast consists of a range of well known stars including Vince Vaughan and Reese Witherspoon. I really like Vince and find his comedy great to watch, so this was a main reason for choosing the film. The film also included many other stars who I recognised playing the protagonists parents. The mixture of talent made it interesting and brilliant to see. Also Reese Witherspoon has not starred in a film for a while and it was intriguing to see these...

Four Families, One Christmas, Hectic!!

Advantages: Funny, Good Cast, Christmasy!!
Disadvantages: Could of been better

...As soon as I saw Four Christmases Advertised I had to see it. Vince Vaughn and Reece Witherspoon make numerous appearances in my dvd collection so I knew more than likely i would probably love this film. The trailer looked great, like a great Christmas Comedy, perfect to put me in the Xmas Mood!! The Film is about a couple, Brad (Vince Vaughan) and Kate (Reece Witherspoon), the pair are happy, what some would say,the perfect couple. They aren't married and have no kids, their relationship is good and fun times. They've been together 3 years but it seems its very much a honey moon period and its going to continue that way. The couple gave up family Christmases when they got together, instead they tell their families a white lie about them doing Charity work abroad, when they head off for a stress free holiday every year...

Four Points by Sheraton Elysee Palace, Nice

Advantages: clean and comfortable
Disadvantages: bar is expensive

...We stayed at this hotel for a short easter break earlier this year. Having booked the room for three nights through a cheap last minute holiday website including flights, it turned out to be very good value for money. The hotel itself is well worth the four-star rating. The bedroom and ensuite were both spacious, well-equippped and clean. Furthermore, it was cleaned every day while we were out. The hotel staff were very helpful. I only speak a little bit of French, but this was no problem as they all spoke fluent English, which was welcoming and a relief. Be warned though, as is common in the rest of Nice, the prices in the bar were very high- I paid six euros for a small pinapple juice there, which as nice as the bar is, and as good as the service was, is, I think, a little excessive. Nevertheless, a good stay, and would go there again....

...on a desert island you can while away the time by playing Connect Four on the golden sandy beach as well as noughts and crosses. I suppose that Connect Five would become too large and complicated for the average child to play. But how about trying it on paper with say, 10 rows of 9 columns. Why stop there?...
