...Today, I would like to compose a somewhat in depth look at money laundering, internet fraud and scams in general. Ciao does not have a specific category for what I will discuss, but this category suits the purpose for best of all and I hope will be of interest in any case. As a background and for some kind of context - I work for the UK government preventing money laundering and terrorist financing. My work consists of educating businesses who operate money transmission services, bureau de changes and those who accept particularly large cash payments from customers. I also enforce legislation which ultimately can lead to financial civil penalties and criminal prosecution leading to prison sentences. Card fraud - Did they really happen to me ???

...now, as I dialled the number I was juggling with my purse to try & get my card details out for security because when ever you usually call up there is an automated system & they always ask you about a million & one questions, but this time someone picked up straight away I thought this was odd but thought oh maybe this was there direct number. How wrong could I be I was scrambling around for my card when the voice said "hello you're through to Bruce Laing" I said "I'm trying to get my account number you just called"& then I gave me name & he had my details right there & without further ado he said "Ok my name is Bruce I am from the Edinburgh Natwest fraud squad is it ok to talk about your recent transactions up to the value of £1140 !" & can you believe I still never twigged I said oh yes of course thinking they where over a period of time...
