Kaspersky Internet Security - average protection

Advantages: Provides basic tools for anti virus, easy to install
Disadvantages: none really, just prefer AVG.

The laptop comes fully equipped with Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 and it really does the job. Most anti virus software is available for free with the opportunity to upgrade however it is worth it from a business perspective, to buy something like this. IC24 FREE INTERNET ACCESS

Advantages: Free internet access!
Disadvantages: Takes a long time to connect.

...IC24 offers free Internet access via an 0800 number between 8pm to 12pm at evenings and 9am to 5pm at weekends. IC24's service is very good if you have a lot of time to waste trying to connect to them! If not it is worth paying a mounthly subscription to BT or AOL for unlimited free internet access. It is very annoying because IC24 only allows you to be connected for around 1 hour. After spending an hour connecting - this is a bit unfair! Otherwise this is a very good service and I would recommend it, if you can not affort to pay for a subscription package!...

Warning On Free247 Internet Access Changes

...Free24-7.net are a company which USED to offer free no frills 24x7 internet access for only £7.99 a month. But I feel very strongly that anyone thinking of signing up to this company should take heed of recent changes to their accounts which came into effect on 1st March 2002 and which could make this type of account very expensive for the heavy internet user. What do I mean by no frills? Well basically, free24-7 is a company that offer internet access only with no webspace or email. Users are provided with an 0808 internet access number which is basically the same as an 0800 number and offers no call charges. Free24-7 are part of V21 which I think has something to do with Virgin. Since the recent changes they now have the facility to offer webspace and email for those that want it, but it will cost you quite a lot more than £7...

As the name suggfests, the actual hosting is free, however you do need to update your website through one of Free4All's dial up lines, at local call charges. Free or not too free

Advantages: One fee then surf for a year
Disadvantages: Logging in is lengthy, slow and strange errors

...TFI is a great idea. In the UK there has been little success with totally free internet calls due to the BT dominance over lines. For TFI to get off the ground and still be going is good. £50 down and free access for a year - any time of day or night - great I thought. I do alot of work via the Net and it has saved me and my partner lots of dosh! (we did the calculations to prove it) Is it worth the hassle though? Trying to log in sometimes is such a swine - many a tantrum has been had I can tell you. Certain times of day are worse than others - first thing in the morning is usually a good time to log on. We get in usually the first time. The service though is flawed - getting joy from TFI is like getting blood from a stone. Watch out for the strange error messages that occur once you are in and the network is playing up...
