THE MEMORY DEVICE.
Review of Freecom Classic Mobile 2.5" Hard Drive USB-2 120 GB by
packerlist
Advantages: portable and free spaces
Disadvantages: LOW IN PROFILE.
...OF USE.
The freecom classic is a storage device that does not require much technique for installation and use. Does not need any driver and it is recognized by modern operating system just like any other removable drive or the flash drive and normally assess through the normal method of my computer and file manager explorer. The file opens and you are enabled to operate just like any other hard drive.
There are ways to know whether the USB has two and it is through the windows control panel.
The USB has some complicating feature for example; some computers have only USB one and others have 2 but the ones that have two are faster in response.
The freecom classic is a device that has the same similarities with other removable storage device just like I wrote above and you are also required to take some precautions while in use...

EXTEND YOUR MEMORY CAPACITY.
Review of Freecom Classic Mobile 2.5" Hard Drive USB-2 120 GB by
apatra
Advantages: GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY AND PORTABLE.
Disadvantages: NOT THAT KNOWN.
...that a computer system has. Some old systems has USB1 while most modern computers has USB2 which is faster in response. You are also advised to check the USB speed with the freecom drive.
There is some way in which you can know on whether the system has USB 2 and the way is through the windows control panel.
So this is the only part that you might get a bit troubled as a new user but should not be a dilemma to you.
In terms of selling places, I bought mine at Amazon .uk at a good value for money. In terms of price, I bought mine at the price of £49.86, and that is of good value for money.
I hope you found my review quite helpful. So won't expect any problem from using it.
And on the over all view about the freecom classic storage device, it is very easy to install and use.
Bye....

Portable storage with no limits.
Review of Freecom Classic Mobile 2.5" Hard Drive USB-2 120 GB by
Mr_Gamgee
Advantages: Small, easy to use, upgradable, decently priced
Disadvantages: Check - You may need 2 USB ports
...I bought one of these devices a couple of years ago and it worked excellently. I was very satisfied with the ease of use - you simply plug in the wires and away you go. No need for driver installation etc (on modern operating systems). I used it for over a year for photography and general backup with no problems at all.
Essentially, the Freecom device is simply a laptop drive in a little black box. This is good because laptop hard drives are built with portability in mind. So when I wanted to upgrade the hard drive in my laptop the Freecom was easily unscrewed and upgraded too (bear in mind mine was out of warranty at this stage).
----- First Impressions -----
First impressions were good. To have all that storage space in something small and portable was great. The unit is made of metal so has a decent feel to it although I'd never...

The BIG drive with little problems !
Review of Freecom Classic SL 250 GB by
damionh
Advantages: Portable Drive, take your music and files anywhere !
Disadvantages: Easy to knock
...Freecom Classic SL 250GB USB2 External Computer Hard Drive.
The Freecom 250GB Classic SL drive was a bargain when i bought it, even PC World were selling it cheap ! I paid £89.99 when the offer was on at PC World.
The drive has a massive 250 GB capacity sat inside a USB case which simply plugs into the USB slot on your computer, because of this, you can take your music and files practically anywhere and can back up your system and keep it unplugged for times when you think you might have a virus ! this is much easier to do than to open up the box and unplug a second "internal" hard drive.
The drive has an average seek time of <9ms, a track to seek time of 0.8ms and an average latency of 4.2ms. These figures basically mean that this drive is no slouch !
The USB 2.0 connection means that it has a transfer rate of UP TO 480 Mbit per...

Back in Black
Review of Freecom Classic Mobile 2.5" Hard Drive USB-2 80 GB by
hysteriak
Advantages: Small, Sleek, Good-Looking, Fast, Cheap, Silent
Disadvantages: None really.
...Freecom have always provided quality storage devices at a good price (this only cost me £70 pounds at the beginning of this year) for many years a market which demands them, and the quality of this product is no exception. It is exceptional value for money being less than a pound per GB which makes it much better than buying CDRWs - which not only look ugly, but take up space and ruin desk space.
For such a large storage device (in terms of capacity) - 80GB - you would expect the design of an exteranal hard-drive to be bulky and irritating, clogging up desk space and making loud ugly buzzing noises and the likes. This, however does none of these things. It is a small (7.2 cm x 12.8 cm x 1.2 cm), good looking thing, with a sleek alumunuin shell and makes no noticable noise - only when you put your hand on it and feel slight vibrations...

Freecom...or Expensive con?
Review of Freecom Classic Hard drive 250 GB by
Cyber-Mark
Advantages: Small footprint, USB connectivity, good capacity, quiet
Disadvantages: All the above completely let down by the units reliability
...Please take a few seconds to rate this at the end - it helps me know if its meaningful or not and I can improve accordingly
Ok... Its big...its black...it hums quietly in the corner. Oh..and its made by Freecom - a manufacturer I previously thought was pretty reliable (I have their dual layer portable DVD re-writer as well).
This drive is billed as being rugged and portable - after all that is the whole point of external portable drives, isnt it? When I got the unit, it was twice as big in capacity as the HDD in my tower PC, so I immediately throught - backup. It didnt come with any back-up soft ware though, which I think is a glaring omission. No matter, I thought, I will back up my photos (10,000+), music (14,000 tracks), etc into folders I create myself.
Connection simply means attaching the power cable to a free socket...

Back up against PC disasters!
Review of Freecom Mobile Drive Hard drive 80 GB by
catshark88
Advantages: Reasonably priced, effective, simple to use
Disadvantages: Boxy & I can't get incremental back ups to work.
...However you use your PC, make sure you take back ups!
A few days after we moved into our house, we were burgled and all our electrical goods were taken. Amongst these items was my laptop on which I had a database of animal pedigrees which had been built up over 6 years. Yes I had backups on CD, but of course I had not taken them as often as I should have... Overall it took me a week of full time work to recreate my data from paper sources.
So yes we should all back up our work. But if you have a lot of photos on your computer, or a lot of music, you are dealing with very large files and it can get very fiddly saving files to lots of separate CDs or having to zip them all up and then save to disk.
The Freecom Mobile Hard Drive is a plug in hard disk that just plugs into your computer via a USB cable and saves vast amounts of data...

Freecom Classic SL 250 GB
Review of Freecom Classic SL 250 GB by
TheCourier
Advantages: it's size
Disadvantages: doesn't work that well with older pc's
...This external hard drive is great value for money.
The drive itself is housed in a nice slimline case and is powered via a AC adapter supply and connected to the computer via a USB port. One of the main features of the drive is that it will turn itself off when you power down you computer so you don't really have to worry about unplugging the power supply. Another smart feature is you can have a number of these drives stacked upon each other.
On the case itself is a blue LED which indicates that the drive is powered up and flickers during data transfers so you know it's in use. As for noise, after you power up the drive you will not even know it's powered up because it's just so quiet. The only noise you do hear is when data is being written or being extracted and even then you can hardly hear it.
One problem I have found...

Extremely portable and excellent hard drive.
Review of Freecom Mobile Drive Hard drive 120 GB by
MVP017
Advantages: Size, looks, no sound
Disadvantages: Could have a carrying pouch
...After filling up my 160GB laptop hard drive and hearing stories of how people have lost all of their data because of a computer crash i thought it was time to by a removable hard drive to not only back-up my files but also transfer some of the older ones. After much research i chose this Freecom model as opposed to a western digital one which was not only more expensive but apparently also broke down very easily. Only costing £49.99 from Amazon this seemed like a good deal and a brilliant aquisition for university.
Portability;
Being only 132x83x18mm and weighing 300 grams this hard drive is small and light enough to transport anywhere with you in a bag or even in your pocket. this size is expected for its capacity but you can also get ones with a greater capacity but is the same size. The only poor lack of detail...
