...Fresh Milk is a product that these days most of us take for granted. The glass pint bottles from the Milkman are now sadly dying out, replaced instead by cheaper plastic containers from the Supermarkets and local shops. I am partly responsible for fuelling this new modern trend and accelerating the death of the local Milkman since I always buy a 2 or 4 pint (or 1 or 2 litre) plastic container from the Supermarket on my weekly trip. The tub isn't anything fancy, it's not all bright and colourful with pictures of babies on the front like other formula tubs, instead it is a simple blue tub with a white polar bear on. It does not say 'formula milk' on it but 'breastmilk substitute' which suggests it is in a different league to the other formulas on the market. The tub itself has the information about how to make up a feed and how much your baby should be having. The lid is resealable with a plastic lid that clips back down. It is useful as it keeps the powder dry and sealed, but the lid is so very hard to open. I am one of the few people who, instead of using the office milk for my tea or coffee, drinks it out of a glass for my tea break. I usually drink 1% which means there is only 1% milk fat left after pasteurization. 100% would bring you close to being butter for reference. In Canada we normally drink 1 or 2% milk, but in the UK I've noticed, it is generally 4% or 2% (otherwise known as blue lid and green lid)which is a little more rich in fat overall of course. Bubbles?!? from milk?!?
