...If you enjoy a good psychological crime novel that is written, well I am sure that, like me, you will really enjoy this book - My Best Friend by Laura Wilson. This is the third book written by Ms Wilson, and while crime novels aren't my favourite genre, I found this a remarkably well-written and absorbing book. This book is very unusual in the fact that it has three first person narrators as well diary entries from over fifty years ago and also includes excerpts from children's books. This sounds on first hearing that the book will be messy and hard to follow but Laura Wilson manages to integrate all these elements together into a dark, heart-rending story of a dysfunctional British family over a period of fifty years. This book is a girl's best friend...

Advantages: Quite funny, Loveable characters, Entertaining read, Good story, Can't put it down
Disadvantages: Similar to a lot of other books like it (but still really good)

Best Friends

Advantages: children can relate to the characters' situations.
Disadvantages: may not appeal to all age groups between 9-13

...I was given this book as a birthday present when I turned nine, it was from a friend who new me well- she knew how much I adored Jacqueline's books! STORY LINE I read this book, and my first thought on it was, 'a very good book, but will I really want to read this again and be able to enjoy it in say, 2 years time?'. Well, here I am, two years ahead, and I still reread Best Friends, but have found that, no, I do not enjoy it as much as I did before, partly I think, because of the story line. Gemma&Alice have been best friends ever since they were born in the same hospital, on the same day, but from different mother's. ...I decided to get this book when I was looking for holiday reads. It was in the two for seven pounds deal at Asda so i decided to give it a go. Diamonds Are A Girls Best Friend is a book by Jenny Colgan who is one of the most popular chick lit writers. The story in the book is based around the main character Sophie. When we meet Sophie she is a very priviledged young lady. She has been brought up in a big house with a maid, getting everything she ever wanted. She lost her mother at the young age of 11 and her Dad married a new lady who Sophie never really warmed too. She was sent away to boarding school where she met lots of friends who were equally as well off and pretentious as her. As she gets older, she doesn't start to work instead she spends her time partying and living a socialite life with her friends. It all goes wrong one...

My Best Friends's Girl - Hitch's Nemesis!

Advantages: Quality comedy throughout, excellent rom com
Disadvantages: Its the opposite idea to Hitch so can seem familiar

...meetings are made this way. She lives with her best friend who advises her to get out and live and date some more guys. Its her influence which eventually turns her to date Tank in the first place. Professor Turner is played by Alec Baldwin and is Tank's dad. He is a professor (as the name suggests) in a college and is the same, if not worse than Tank. ...I'm a girl with seriously curly hair, and I mean seriously curly! The term taming always seems to be used when describing what should be done with my hair. No matter what products I tried to use they didn't seem to work- wither making my hair greasy and lank or doing absolutely nothing at all. Then about three years ago all my friends started getting GHD's, what the manufacturers term "a new religion for hair" and indeed it is. However, they were retailing at around £119 a pair three years ago, and these were just way out of my price range, being but a mere 6th form girl! I tried buying other straighteners but these did not seem to give the same impressive results as the GHD's did to my friends. One was by an author called Dorothy Koomson who I had never heard of, but a sticker on the front of the book informed me that this was a "Richard and Judy's Summer Read"- was that going to make it worth reading I wondered, or was it to be a load of rubbish?
