The one laudable addition is the attractive matte finish, except the front buttons, so less prone to finger prints and scratches only replacing the gloss of its predecessor gaining hardly anything in terms of professionalism that it lacked when it had the glint. It?s amazing how a company enjoying such high reputation can churn out products of mediocre quality on such regular basis. Is it they have problems with information technology at its crudest form (I mean user feed back, please)? Or is it they have serious R&D problems? May be they are not serious at all about this particular wing? It really makes me wonder! This stuff, which, in spite of the ravishing matte finish, still looks dumb, is just useful while listening to podcast in the car, the speaker on the back of the Zen Stone...

Gust Front

Advantages: Sci-Fi

...Gust front. The Posleen have invaded the Earth. They are big reptilian looking aliens and they hate humans with a ferocity. The book is essentially a war/ resistance type novel with lots of battles and counter insurgency rear guard actions. The book follows differing teams of human fighter as they each have a story and a battle to fight. Some are successful and some disastrous slaughters. The Polseen are nasty aliens and no empathy comes across in the book, they want to totally dominate the humans and take over the Earth. The characters draw your pity as they fight against overwhelming odds and weapons so advanced only trickery and humans sacrificing themselves can help to defeat the Polseen commandos. There are a couple of sub plots and equally a couple of twist but they are not much to speak of and for me...

Hanko Front Museum - a labour of love

Advantages: Interesting, well researched, great for history buffs, different to other museums
Disadvantages: Lack of captions in English; you may not be into military history

Strictly speaking the Front Musuem in Lappohja in Southern Finland should have been closed for the winter when we visited the area in September 2007; in fact mid-September onwards is very much seen as the "off season" for most attractions in Finland, other than those in the heart of the cities (and even some of these close down for several months too). However, our Lonely Planet had been wrong before so we enquired at the tourist information office in the nearby town of Hanko. The tourist officer contacted the curator of the museum and arranged an appointment for us to visit the Front Museum later that day. This is a very widely known song and has a great tune which accompanies some very good lyrics. 16 - Three Times a Lady - This track runs for 3.35 minutes and was produced by James Anthony Carmicheal and The Commodores. Thisis probably the most famous of his songs, in my opinion, which is a very moving ballard and a favourite for weddings. The Cd cover contains a grey background with a very nice picture of Lionel fron the chest up wearign black and has the title in white letters. The back of the CD is gold in colour and again hasa picture of lionel the same as the front cover picture but from the knees up on this one. There is also the standard track list and credits. Well, one of the joys of having a child is you buy them something and then they ask you for accessories, and this was no exception - I needed to get a wall charger separately and she also asked for speakers. Most of the content my daughter has on her mp3 player is on her laptop, for which I bought her high quality speakers that give her excellent sound quality, so when she asked for speakers I told her I was only going to get cheap portable ones rather than spend a lot of money on something that would merely duplicate what her laptop does. You don't really need to read the first book but it would lay a little more meat on the bones of this story. Initially in the first book the POSLEEN where attempting to invade Earth, however in this book they are HERE. The battle descriptions are quite good and colourfully written, remember this is escapism sci-fi. Which means there is no need for the more 'techno' accuracy, which accompanies some sci-fi books? The DVD is a single disk containing the film, no extra features which is a little disappointing. * * * * * I'm doing lots of World War 1 literature for my English A-level. But among all the videos, poems, biographies, and documentaries, this is one of my favourites. 'All Quiet on the Western Front' first grabbed my attention because it sounds so poetic, so familiar. However the deepest irony is that the front was never quiet, constantly bashed into craters by heavy shell-fire. Before this DVD (a 1979 remake of the classic black and white film) I had no idea what the trenches were really like. What is somewhat unique is that this story is seen from the German perspective. What is heartwarming and depressing is that it is very much like our own story...
