Fry's Five Boys
Review of Fry's - Five Boys [TV Advertisement] by
sroylewis
Advantages: Very yummy
Disadvantages: Bars are too small
...I just love those cool adverts about Fry's Five Boys, particulaly the one about "Five Girls want Five Boys".
And Five Boys is just so yummy; Fry's really does have the competitive edge. I do hope that they will still be there at the turn of the century.
My mummy and daddy give me a two sillings' pocket money every week, so I can buy four bars of Five Boys at 6d each.
I love to bite the chocolate away first from around the edges of the Five Boys. I always keep the Five Boys until last.
I hope that Cadbury never never take over Fry's.
Well done Fry's!
Stephen (Aged 5) 27 February 1961....

Futurama, better than The Simpsons.
Review of Channel 4 - Futurama by
Sd01
Advantages: extremely funny, every episode is new
Disadvantages: none
...Futurama is comic cartoon based around a college dropout from the year 2000, Fry. If I had to rate futurama and the Simpson’s I would have to say that Futurama just tops the Simpson’s because there are more episodes of Futurama I haven't seen than Simpson episodes.
Fry is a dim-witted pizza boy from the year 2000 who, whilst delivering a pizza, froze himself into the year 3000. Later on in the series we find out that Fry is a millionaire because he left 67 cents in his old savings account which survived 1000 years. With this money he buy's the last can of sardines ever. Fry’s old girlfriend, who dumped him just before he was frozen, comes to the year 3000 and finds Fry. After a couple of weeks they decide to go to the year 4000, but are just dumped in Las Vegas!
During Fry's journey in the future he...

Taste of the orient
Review of Asda Chinese Style Chicken Stir Fry by
kellyv43
Advantages: quick and easy to cook
Disadvantages: not as good as a take away
...You know what its like when you’ve just got home from a long hard day at work and then you have got to find yourself something to have for dinner. If you are anything like me and you can’t be bothered to prepare and cook anything of an evening then you will just want to open the freezer and pull something out. Well that’s exactly what I did this week. I decided to have a chinese style stir fry which is very quick and easy to cook. This Chinese style chicken stir fry contains beansprouts, onions, peas, sweetcorn, mushrooms and water chestnuts seasoned with soy sauce. It is from the Asda Good For You range so it only has less than 2% fat and only 362 calories per pack. It is frozen and costs 98p per packet. It states on the top that you can buy 5 of these packets for just £4. The packet contains 400g. This stir fry comes...

Quick, quick, chips
Review of Fries To Go by
SusanLesley
Advantages: Quick, easy, cheap, taste good
Disadvantages: None apart from those dreaded calories again!
...OK I’ll confess straight away – they were on offer in Safeway’s! I do pay full price for things sometimes you know – admittedly only when I have to but that’s how it is!
Anyway there they were a pack of three boxes of Fries To Go for 99p instead of £1.45. I will say at this point do remember that the £1.45 is Safeway’s normal price, they are probably considerably cheaper elsewhere.
Fries To Go are frozen fries to be cooked in the microwave so I thought that they might be a good stand by for those times when I am trying to prepare a quick meal. Of course the determining factor would have to be how they tasted, so Dave and I decided to try them today with our lunch.
Each individual box contains 24 fries. Now, I bet you’re thinking that I’m taking the opinion writing a bit far when I start counting my chips! Don’t worry I haven’t gone...

a great collection
Review of Paperweight - Stephen Fry by
Squonk
Advantages: very witty
Disadvantages: cant be read cover to cover, its one to be picked up from time to time
...This collection brings together a range of Stephen Fry?s older material from radio and print in a 450 page collection that kept me smiling for weeks, being the sort of book one can pick up in a spare fifteen minutes to read a couple of pieces rather than as a cover to cover narrative. While Frys clever style and sarcastic sense of humour may admittedly not be to everyone?s taste, the diversity of extracts here are packed with witty comment and ideas as Fry considers all manner of topics in a unique style which I enjoyed immensely. Very different from his novels but equally entertaining, Paperweight is an ideal bathroom reader split into easily readable chunks that can be savoured over weeks. At turns hilarious and consistently captivating, Fry once again proves what a clever writer he is. Recommended....

Fry's assortment
Review of Paperweight - Stephen Fry by
Cernunnos
Advantages: A good read
Disadvantages: By its nature it contains references which are a little dated here and there.
...Paperweight is mainly a compilation of reviews written by Stephen Fry for various publications during the 1980s and early 1990s.
Because of the nature of each article, commissioned pieces designed to fill a set number of column inches, the book is a series of bite-sized digestible chunks just right for short bus journeys, sojourns in waiting rooms and trips to the lavatory. It is a delightful mix of triviality and incisive thought which, I suppose, trademarks much of Stephen Fry's work. The first pieces in the book are taken from talks Fry delivered in the guise of his alter-ego,Dr Donald Trefusis. These were broadcast on Radio 4s "Loose Ends" each Saturday morning. The resulting "Trefusis on Education", "Trefusis on old age" etc. are intellectual slaps in the face, masquerading as comedy. The wisdom that oozes forth is quite astounding...

Good bye Scott
Review of Peterborough United by
ANDY_GRAHAM
Advantages: There will be more money to buy players
Disadvantages: Scott is an excellent player and the club will miss him
...Unfortunately utility player Richard Scott is on the verge of quitting London Road. Posh boss, Barry Fry has offered 26-year-old Scott a new contract, but the player and his agent feel he can get a better deal elsewhere, now that he is available to leave Posh under the Bosman ruling for no fee. Scott has been dogged by injuries this season and needed to prove his fitness to Posh boss Barry Fry to be awarded the offer of a new contract, which Fry has done. Scott's old club Shrewsbury Town were interested in taking back Scott around transfer deadline day, but so far they haven't been back and nor have there been any inquiries from other clubs.
Meanwhile Barry Fry has not offered Martin Williams a contract as he does not believe the midfielder has done enough to earn one during his short term move from Swindon Town to London Road...

Great debut from a great writer
Review of The Liar - Stephen Fry by
Squonk
Advantages: great use of language, original
Disadvantages: not linear, it can be a bit difficult to follow
...I`ve always been a fan of Stephen Fry and really loved this, his first novel. Written in a wonderfully touching and funny style with a great flourish for language, Fry spins a convoluted tale which shifts time frames wildly from chapter to chapter and can admittedly be difficult to follow, but who cares when the writing is this good? At turns outrageous, vulgar and utterly confusing, it is nevertheless consistently humorous and packed with ideas. The two main protagonists; Adrian, the Liar of the title, and his college tutor Trefusis, are expertly drawn and engaging characters in a plot that keeps you guessing to the end of this impressive debut novel. Some might find the style annoying, but to fans Fry`s style of wit and of funny, original and often eccentric writing it comes highly recommended. If you wanted to try a Fry novel then I...

Southern fried chicken wraps
Review of Recipes for Snacks by
emmachef
Advantages: You can do alternatives with fillings like fish fingers or vegi burgers
Disadvantages: none that I can think of
...Southern fried Chicken wraps:
Ingredients:
4 southern fried chicken breasts (either frozen or fresh)
8 wraps
1/2 iceberg lettuce, shredded
Mayonnaise
Salsa sauce
or Sweet chilli sauce
or BBq sauce
Mehod:
1. Cook the Southern fried chicken like it says on the packet.
2. When its cooked slice them up and warm up the wraps in the microwave.
3. Spread the mayonnaise and the desired sauce in the middle of the wraps and put the lettuce on top.
4. Place some of the chicken slices being careful not to over fill it because you need to wrap it.
5. To wrap it up you need to fold over the 2 opposite sides and then roll it over so all sides are keeping the contents of all the filling inside so none of it can fall out.
6. You can serve it as a snack on its own or with a side salad and chips for a teatime meal.
It also makes a really nice meal...
