It is very SLR-like in appearance and the added bulk of the battery-holder/grip does give it an assured feeling in your hands. ...I got my Fujifilm s1000fd only a few months ago, due to my s800 breaking i got this discounted. i think it is a great camera for all types of photography or just for quick shots, I will start with picture quality, and for what is known as a "bridge" camera is gives superb picture quality and sharpness, the highest resolution is way higher than most amateur photographers would need and the levels of detail are surprisingly good, noise is reduced in low light by a staggering 3200 ISO it can shoot as low res at around 2.5 frames per second and at a very high shutter speed of 2000 way outdoing any bridge or point and shoot camera within the price range. Fujifilm Finepix S1000fd the answer to my prayers!

Advantages: Everything! great pics, great value, great lense, great fun, and user friendly!
Disadvantages: Very few! bad battery choice (i.e. LR6 or FR6 AA's only), no mechanical image stabalisation!

...professional TV camera's) the Fujifilm far out shined most of its competitors by a mile! Check out the other Fujifilm Finepix's "s" ranges! as most componants are reused and swapped around in their models, so what is good for one, is good if not better for another!...

Fuji Finepix S602 - A brilliant Bargain

Advantages: A wide variety of features, good picture quality, durable (millions of photographs without maintenance), Good Value, and Generally convenient in size and weight to take out with you
Disadvantages: Poor Lens, Fragile, and generally a lot better products on the market (However, for nowhere near the same price value)

...comparison to some of the other cameras made by Fuji it really does seem to be the cream of the crop. For example the new finepix S5000 has a real cheap and nasty feel to it. It has a 10x lense, mind you, but its no match for the 602 in my mind. And the F7000, in my mind, is just simply not worth the money....

...Fujifilm Finepix S5700. This is a very fine digital camera at MY price! The moment I set eyes on this one, I was really very impressed. The features on this model are unbelievable. Just look at the specification to see what I mean. It is an easy camera to use. In Auto mode, simply great and for the experienced photographer the manual mode is excellent. I love this camera so much that I would buy two of them!! It handles well, all the important buttons are well sited, to me this is very important. I say that this is a good buy for someone wanting that bit more, or in this case, a lot more, to have the ownership of a Pro camera is a dream come true. Yes it is larger than a pocket digital camera and does not fit in your pocket easily. How many true photographers carry pocket sized Digital cameras? Well I used to do that...

Advantages: Easy of use for automatic modes, price, quality of images.
Disadvantages: Small grip, awkward battery compartment, lack of RAW format compatability, average manual.
