Fujitsu Scenic PC's
Review of Fujitsu Siemens Myrica Series by
mattboxsey
Advantages: Very small footprint / Ideal for limited space
Disadvantages: Only 3 PCI Slots and 1 Eisa (Shared)
...Whilst recently updating Workstations on my LAN we recently have purchased several Fujitsu Scenic PC's.
These machines have proven very reliable and efficient for the money that we have spent upon the units (£420.00 + VAT each)
Considering that these machines are running PIII550 processors with 64Mb memory and a 10Gb hardrive as standard they can handle most basic office aapplications required in a general office enviroment.
The unit comes with Windows 98SE pre-installed as standard, soundcard, keyboard and mouse.
The only disadvantage that we have discovered with these machines is that they only have 3 x PCI slots and 1 x EISA slot making expandability a little probelamatic for certain hardware requirements, but overall for general value for money and reliability I would recommend this machine as excellent value for money...

Scenic Pro M6
Review of Fujitsu Siemens SCENIC xSi - PIII 600 MHz by
dominiclucas
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
...Bought the machine a few years back, when it was changing design. It is a Pentium Pro 233, with 128Mb Ram, and "a few" hard disks. The machine has performed well, and the chassis is VERY robust when the panels are on, but a bit flimsy when the inspection covers are removed. Also, when you are changing boards, the slots are on the bottom, upside down, which may be OK for a desktop unit, but is a nightmare for a tower.
The machine continues to perform well, I cold swap windows 98, SCO UNIX, and Linux from exchangeables, and all manage to work with all the Siemens supplied hardware....

Stylistic ST4110P - For the total mobile user
Review of Fujitsu Siemens Stylistic ST4110P - PIII-M 800 MHz - 10.4" TFT by
maxmidnight
Advantages: Lightweight, compact and flexible. Great user interface and robust. Great design feature to aid handling.
Disadvantages: Lacks the power of other tablets, has trouble launching multi application envronments
...Over the past few months, I have been evaluating and rolling out tablet PC's across my organisation within the Health industry. My evaluation has covered the HP Compaq TC1100, the Motion M1200, the Fujitsu Stylistic ST4120, and the Toshiba Portégé 3500. What follows is a brief discussion of the Fujitsu Siemens Stylistic ST4110 which I hope will give users some guidance and prove informative.
The Fujitsu Stylistic ST4120 was the first such device we trialed here at the Trust and it was certainly a fantastic baptism for both ourselves and the hardware. Vigorously tested and scrutinised by disgruntled employee's, under duress, it was quickly seen as a fantastic breakthrough in technological architecture and benefited users in almost every aspect of their working lives. It is the lightest of the Tablet PCs and gets the best battery life...

The V7010 - Not as a good as it seems...
Review of Fujitsu Siemens AMILO PRO V7010 - Celeron D 325 2.53 GHz - 15.1" TFT by
mattyprice4004
Advantages: Cheap, good speakers and ATI graphics chipset, Runs cool
Disadvantages: Only runs cool because of HUGE fans so noisy, Graphics are actually awful, Bad keyboard
...Most people looking for a laptop will have an idea that the speed of a machine in MHz or GHz will have a direct impact on performance. True, but if you take this to the extreme like a lot of people and base your buying choice on ourely speed, you may fall into the V7010s trap.
The Celeron D CPU in this laptop runs at a smooth 2.53GHz, which will certainly appeal to a lot of people on paper. But be in for a surprise when you power the machine on for the first time....
To me the Fujitsu felt slower than my Compaq Armada M700 running at 1GHz with only 128MB of RAM, although both of them ran XP Home Edition.
The speed is only the first shortcoming of the V7010, as you will find out shortly.
Everything looks bright and rosy on paper - 40GB 'Fast' IDE Hard Disk, ATI IGP 9000 Graphics, Celeron D 2.53GHz CPU... but when you try and use...

A reasonable pair of speakers
Review of Fujitsu Siemens by
richard_richard
Advantages: Clear sound quality
Disadvantages: Low output, lack of bottom end on sound
...These Fujitsu Siemens speakers came supplied with the Fujitsu Scenic W series of computers.
We have a number of these computers at work and although these speakers aren't exactly the cutting edge of sonic technology, they aren’t too bad for a freebie!
Specs
The speakers have a maximum output of 8 watts. These doesn't sound like a lot, but it is perfectly adequate for most of the sounds made by our PCs at work!
The speakers are 7" in height., 4" in depth and 3" in width, so they are fairly compact and don't take up too much room on the desk.
On the front of the speaker unit is a grill to allow the sound to be pushed through. There is also a port at the top of each speaker unit, which presumably is some sort of bass horn and allows some bottom end to be produced.
The colour is, surprise, surprise...beige!
Inside the speakers I...

A stalwart little friend
Review of Fujitsu Siemens SCENIC xSi - PIII 600 MHz by
Manx
Advantages: Lightweight, robust, goodprice.
Disadvantages: None noticed yet.
...a pin on me.
This might sound like an odd thing to include in a review - but if you work in tech support you’ll appreciate it - the Scenic is very lightweight. There is no problem at all in tucking one under my arm and carrying it up to the fourth floor, opening doors as I go.
Siemens will be a good company to watch for computers for the next little while. They are an established electronics computer but who are (relatively) new to the PC market and so, I imagine, in order to wriggle their foot through the door they will continue to release well priced wonders like the Scenic....

A good value machine
Review of Fujitsu Siemens T Bird by
GarethAvery
Advantages: Good value, high spec
Disadvantages: Two faults, both fixed reasonably
...I bought my T Bird in November 1999 from Sainbury's and since then it has worked very well apart from two faults. The hard disk failed within a month (due to a bad batch apparently) and also within the warranty period the DVD drive stopped reading DVDs (but continued to work with CDs) On both occasions the service was completed reasonably and as these two products were not specifically Fujitsu I put them both down to 'another company'
I would certainly buy from Fujitsu again and notice that the same model (but with faster processor and larger HD) is being sold through newspaper adverts by a company called Under a Grand. Have a look at:
www.underagrand.co.uk...

Good Tablet, Good performance, Very durable
Review of Fujitsu Siemens Stylistic 3400 - PIII 400 MHz - 10.4" TFT by
abacus1983
Advantages: Good performance, Reliable and Rugged
Disadvantages: Weight, Colour and Battery life
...My review of the Fujitsu Stylistic 3400.
My opinions are very much varied for this machine; I will tell you what I find to be the good, bad and the ugly.
Good: The fact that it is a affordable Tablet PC is probably the best part, With that it boasts a Pentium 3 (400 MHz) Processor, which is not to bad, it performs good enough and is defiantly capable of handling most tasks and the Internet, sometimes both at the same time depending on what your doing, It comes standard with a 6gb Hard drive and 196mb of RAM.
It has 1 x USB port, TV-OUT, Infra-red and built in speakers.
Bad: It lacks a CD/DVD drive; the stylus pen is awful and looks like something that has been pulled out of a cracker.
The battery doesn’t tend to hold its charge for that much of a longer period but it does have the advantage of the power supply.
The weight is probably...

Underagrand.co.uk -- nice PC, not so nice support
Review of Fujitsu Siemens Myrica Series by
richardlonghurst
Advantages: Good spec PC at a good price
Disadvantages: Terrible customer support means you're in big trouble if something goes wrong
...Attracted by the adverts for www.underagrand.co.uk in the newspaper, I recently ended up buying a Fujitsu-Siemens PC from Nice PC. £999 inc VAT plus £30 delivery was a good price for a good-spec machine.
1GHz PIII, 256Mb RAM, 40Gb hard disk, CD-RW, DVD-ROM drive, 32Mb Geforce 2 graphics card, 17-inch monitor, Windows ME and a fistful of software. Delivery took less than a week and I was a very happy bunny -- until I tried to switch the machine off.
Everything was great about the computer except for two things. It would not restart (using option in the Windows Start menu) without given a blue-screen-of-death error message, which required the whole machine to be switched off. It would also not shut down properly – it would just turn the monitor off, but leave the system unit humming away as though it was still be used. I had paid...

Experience Of Support
Review of Fujitsu Siemens AMILO M-6300 - C 1.2 GHz - 14.1" TFT by
mattboxsey
Advantages: Confusing call qualification / Information repeated several times
Disadvantages: Once the call had been logged and agreed the repair was turned around very quickly
...After recently having a problem with A Fujitsu laptop which was still in warranty I recently contacted Fujistu to arrange to have the machine looked at.
The problem with the machine appeared to be that the cable connecting the screen had fractured and needed replacing.
After navigating the Support call system and speaking to several people regarding this fault we appeared to travel full circle and go back to the beginning explaining the fault and symptoms.
Fujitsu seem to have a good support infrastructure and policy in place which just needs some fine tuning.
They need to ensure that all information is relayed as required, and to appreciate that the users placing the call have different levels of experience. (Being a support specialist, you resent being told that the fault is user error and to check the obvious even though you have...
