Perhaps not worth the money after all. I now think you're better off going into a less well known, smaller furniture retailer and buying a suite for about £500. It probably won't be ruined much before a DFS suite and it's not so gutting to have to replace!...

A good furniture store

Advantages: Good range - reasonable prices - good staff

...DFS is a furniture shop that sells mainly sofas and armchairs as well as some additional accompanying furniture. The majority of their range is produced in high quality fabrics and leathers and appears to be very well made. We have just purchased our new sofa from there after looking for many weeks for the right "deal". Many of the furniture shops offered some great ranges and great prices but did not match our requirements exactly. Eventually we found DFS offering the ideal sofa and at half price. What we liked about DFS was the lack of "Hard Sell" tactics. There were plenty of sales staff around but none were hassling us to see if they could help. They made themselves obvious enough for us to ask if we needed assistance. The layout of their stores is both logical and functional. Nothing is too cluttered and the suites are layed out...

Dfs Furniture Store

Advantages: Reasonable prices nice people
Disadvantages: Nish so far

...Now that my son is has grown past playing with plasticine and slopping food everywhere into playing with girls and slopping beer everywhere, and my dog is too old and fat to jump on the furniture, it is with a certain sense of irony that I regard my latest purchase in the suite department. Why, oh why, oh why, oh w.........you get the idea, did I never, in the years during which the choice would have made my life easier, choose a leather sofa? Sofas Made for You

Advantages: A large range of suites with helpful and knowledgable staff
Disadvantages: Eight week waiting period

...they don?t just advertise their prices lower, yet I guess this is to make people believe they are getting a fantastic deal. STORES AND STAFF DFS have many stores throughout the United Kingdom and your nearest one can be found by a postcode search on their website (see below). When arriving at the store local to us we found it to be a very huge one story shop, which apparently is usual throughout many of the DFS stores. When entering, you are faced with a large range of different sofa?s and suites, all set in their different styles. Although there was lots of different ranges on the shop floor, the shop did not feel cramped at all, like many stores, and had quite a welcoming feel to it. The main information booth (as it seemed) was bang in the middle so you knew where to go if you needed help, though staff were milling around the store...

Gorgeous dolls house furniture!

...My niece has a beautiful dolls house called the Marlborough Dolls House which is a John Crane Pintoy product ? in fact I wrote a review about it some time ago. There are various sets of furniture available to fit in this, or indeed any other, dolls house including bathroom, living room, kitchen, nursery and bedroom furniture. Earlier this year she received the set of living room furniture which she loves playing with and it is so cute I just had to tell you about it! Sitting Pretty

Advantages: stores all over the country, always a sale on, not too pushy, payment and delivery
Disadvantages: those annoying adverts, having to pay extra for everything

...I had been trawling through the various furniture stores and dedicated sofa shop since last summer and out of desperation even looked at the Argos catalogue. As I could only afford to pay a set amount of money I was limited to where I could ultimately shop. Also, I live in a modern flat which means small rooms and not a lot of room to place large pieces of furniture. In the end I made several trips to two DFS stores, the one in Watford and the other one in Brent Cross. The company, as annoying as they are for their adverts on radio and television, must be doing something right as they are currently celebrating their 40th anniversary. And whenever I went to check out their latest sale items and new stock, there were plenty of people in the stores happy to order and buy new sofas. There was no sign of recession there. Think Sofas (Don't) Think DFS

Advantages: good range of sofas
Disadvantages: poor customer service, sofas stained easily

...wait 5 weeks for delivery seemed acceptable. Then 6 weeks passed and I had not been contacted by DFS, so I phoned them and was told that there was a 'slight' delay. In the end I had to wait 12 weeks for my sofas to arrive. On the day my sofas were due to be delivered, I was given a delivery slot of 8am - 8pm, which is ridiculous. I was unable to take the day off work, so stayed at home all morning and my Dad agreed to stay in my house during the afternoon/evening as my Husband and I were both working. My Dad phoned me at 7:30pm to say that the sofas still hadn't arrived and I was fuming. I phoned the local DFS shop, explained that my sofas were already 7 weeks overdue the estimated delivery date and asked where my sofas were. I was told by the Manager that the delivery driver had just walked in and he asked if I minded being put...

White, Sherbourne furniture - not wardrobes

Disadvantages: No measurements on initial plan, designer didn't give full options of various height/depth/widths.

Lots of flexibility regarding height, width and depth but designer tends to draw what THEY like, where THEY want it, so be ASSERTIVE and ask loads of questions about alternatives/options/measurements/positioning. Initially, we nearly ended up with low level bedside cabinets, hadn't initially been told we could have more suitable mid level - all because designer drew what SHE likes!! Also had to absolutely INSIST she move kneehole dresser to where I wanted it as opposed to where she wanted to put to be "symetrical" - who cares, it's MY bedroom. She chose 500mm deep dresser top, same as existing for "more floor space" (as fitted butting right up to wall as opposed to Schreiber self assembly which had 5" gap behind it - because of previous rad position, which would be moved for Sharps furniture, thus closing that gap...

As well as the Adverts, we had the brochures through the door, so it wasn't difficult to notice the selection they had on offer. And after browsing the brochure, not to mention their Website, we decided to visit the store. We chose to go on Sunday 31st December, as that was supposed to be the last day of the sales. ...Having recently purchased a new home I needed a couch, for me comfort is far more important than appearance, I need to feel like I can sink into the couch, not like I'm sitting on rock. After visiting a few sofa stores such as SCS, Furniture Village and Harvey's I was no better off, I found all their sofas either too expensive for what you got or too old fashioned. The appearance of many was also strange looking in some cases and offered very little colour variation.
