A good furniture store

...DFS is a furniture shop that sells mainly sofas and armchairs as well as some additional accompanying furniture. The majority of their range is produced in high quality fabrics and leathers and appears to be very well made. We have just purchased our new sofa from there after looking for many weeks for the right "deal". Many of the furniture shops offered some great ranges and great prices but did not match our requirements exactly. Eventually we found DFS offering the ideal sofa and at half price. What we liked about DFS was the lack of "Hard Sell" tactics. There were plenty of sales staff around but none were hassling us to see if they could help. They made themselves obvious enough for us to ask if we needed assistance. The layout of their stores is both logical and functional. Nothing is too cluttered and the suites are layed out...

Dfs Furniture Store

Advantages: Reasonable prices nice people
Disadvantages: Nish so far

...Now that my son is has grown past playing with plasticine and slopping food everywhere into playing with girls and slopping beer everywhere, and my dog is too old and fat to jump on the furniture, it is with a certain sense of irony that I regard my latest purchase in the suite department. Why, oh why, oh why, oh w.........you get the idea, did I never, in the years during which the choice would have made my life easier, choose a leather sofa? At the beginning of last year, when my suite looked as if it had been used for practice scrums by the New Zealand All Blacks, those nice people at DFS had yet another sale! DFS Furniture

Advantages: Good quality, nice looking sofas
Disadvantages: Take forever to arrive, go somewhere smaller and you can take your suite away

...My partner and I purchased a three piece suite plus footstool from here. It is a lovely suite in a really nice blue, very comfortable. When we went to the store (Cardiff) we were free to wander and try out all the suites we wanted. Once we had decided on the one we wanted we paid cash (£1400, a lot of money but good value for it, we thought) and the gentleman who served us was polite and friendly, and even did a little test with a mug of coffee to show the stain resistence of our suite! Since buying it I've spoken to several people about the good quality of their DFS suites. However, despite all this praise, I do have one problem: We were told the suite could take 12 weeks, when my partner asked 'what if it doesn't arrive within that time' the assistant said, to cover his back, he would write 14 weeks on the receipt! Sitting Pretty

Advantages: stores all over the country, always a sale on, not too pushy, payment and delivery
Disadvantages: those annoying adverts, having to pay extra for everything

...I had been trawling through the various furniture stores and dedicated sofa shop since last summer and out of desperation even looked at the Argos catalogue. As I could only afford to pay a set amount of money I was limited to where I could ultimately shop. Also, I live in a modern flat which means small rooms and not a lot of room to place large pieces of furniture. In the end I made several trips to two DFS stores, the one in Watford and the other one in Brent Cross. The company, as annoying as they are for their adverts on radio and television, must be doing something right as they are currently celebrating their 40th anniversary. ...I am sure that there aren't many people out there who haven't heard of DFS. If you haven't heard of them, they are a large sofa company. There are over 70 DFS stores in the UK and you are able to order sofas in store or online. You can't dispute that DFS have a huge range of sofas destined to suit almost anyone. Whether you want plain leather, fabric or suede or feel like something quite bold, coloured or patterned, there is bound to be a sofa for you at DFS. DFS use the expertise of 6 Designers, the most famous being Linda Barker. At the moment you just can't seem to get away from DFS adverts - they are everywhere and are very annoying and cringe-worthy. ...Having recently purchased a new home I needed a couch, for me comfort is far more important than appearance, I need to feel like I can sink into the couch, not like I'm sitting on rock. After visiting a few sofa stores such as SCS, Furniture Village and Harvey's I was no better off, I found all their sofas either too expensive for what you got or too old fashioned. Need A Little Patience

Advantages: Good Selection, Some Good Deals, Price, Interest Free Credit
Disadvantages: Hidden Extras, Having To Wait For Your Purchase

...you all the dimensions and prices for each item, and also show the full range of products for each item, ie 4 seater sofa, 3 seater sofa, chair, footstool etc... This made our decision easy as we knew without taking a tape measure to the store that the sofa would actually fit in our room. The Store is very well laid out with plenty of space to move around and try out each product. There are always staff milling around and they do approach you and ask if you need any help. They don't mind children running around climbing all over the furniture, which is great where my 2 are concerned. The staff were very friendly and were able to ask any questions that we had. The opening times are also very good. They don't shut until 8pm so there was not rushing after work to get there before it closes. The sale actually lasted well into January...

  Shock, shock and what a surprise another shock!

Before you say again they always have a sale, yes they do but what it is they have two collections out at one time and one is in the sale and one is not. I did look at the ones that were in the sale but there was nothing I really liked. Once I had chosen a sofa and set myself a maximum I was willing to pay for a sofa and sofa bed. I took myself off to the DFS show room. I looked around the showroom as sometimes things look different once you see them to make sure the one I had chosen was the one I wanted. I landed up choosing two styles the one I had original chosen and another one which was not in the sale. There are plenty of parking spaces at outside this New Malden, Shannon's Corner store and they even share it with a store next door, Carpet Right...

DFS - Somewhere in the Middle

Disadvantages: No good for First Time Buyers

We were in a little bit of a predicament and had nowhere else to have it delivered and in that case I had to cancel my new sofa and was somewhat disappointed and I think they should have some kind of system put in place for first time buyers because I know quite a few people that have done the same as me and I think they would get more sales if they were more sympathetic with first time buyers. The second time I used DFS was when I split up with my husband, took the house on myself and wanted rid of everything that was jointly owned.
