...to beware of is printing labels, even with "laser printer approved" labels you need to be make sure that you select the correct paper settings in the printer preferences, which slows the printer down a bit, and operates the fuser at a lower tempreture, to prevent problems. If you fail to do this (which I couldn't see documented), and a label gets stuck to the photoconductor, you'll be paying out nearlly as much as the printer cost for a replacement. The printer is a reasonable size, so it would be prudent to check the dimentions against the space you have available before purchase....

Top Notch Laser Printer for the Office

This would be a problem if the printer was operation critical so I would advise having a spare printer handy or have more than one set up so you can print to the other one whilst the faulty one is repaired. A lot of suppliers offer a service contract though so that a printer engineer would show up on the day or the next day to fix it onsite problems but this is usually quite expensive. Drivers for this printer can be downloaded from the HP website and download speeds are usually very good so no problems even if you don?t have the original CD that came with the printer. Unfortunately, the Tally 8008 has an array of consumable parts, all hideously expensive, and no means of reliably informing you how long it will be before the next part is required. My solution for this was to buy in a full complement of the most likely consumables to be required. We therefore have an entire cupboard filled with expensive printer consumables and that still only amounts to one of each item. That is, one of each of the four colours of cartridges. At £115 each this amounts to over £450 worth of ink sat on the shelf. Now, put that alongside the purchase cost of the printer and the total cost of ownership begins to look a little jaded. The other part that needs to be changed (normally done by a service engineer, although we have done it ourselves) is called the colour laserjet image fuser kit, this does something to fix the colour powders to the paper. I do not know the price of the fuser kit, the cartridges are available at the following price black £136 ex vat, the three different colour cartridges are £191 ex vat each. That sounds very expensive, but for the length of time they last and the amount of prints it is good value. The quality of prints both black and white and colour is of the highest possible standard and easily produces very professional documents. Obviously the better the paper the better the results.
