...It's difficult to buy a double bass in the simple way you might buy a good quality electric guitar or electric bass . For a guitar you can sort of decide if you're Fender, Gibson, Gretsch etc type of person by seeing what you're favourite players use on the telly and then trying them out in any good guitar store. But for the double bass we're in different territory all together and different rules apply. If you try out the bass in a store or room that is stuffed with other double basses or even other wooden acoustic instruments its going to resonate a little in each of those instruments and lead you into believing you have a lovely sounding bass when you probably haven't. Getting back to Bass-ics

Fusion Cuisine - on the Cheap!

Advantages: Great taste, long lasting, good size pieces
Disadvantages: Ridiculous amount of packaging

It's all in crunchy tablets now, with or without liquid centres. Over-packaged and over-priced, but exciting and new. I can't move for chewing gum stands in my local Sainsburys. My luvverly cherry red Washburn bass.

...Having started playing bass with a cheapo Fender Precision copy, after a year I decided it was time to move up to a better make. It was a toss up between a classic jazz bass with all the tuning pegs lined up a la the Fender or one of the newer "Gothic" style ones like this. In true Mr Pink fashion a beer or six was consumed whilst I perused the choices avaliable, finally deciding to take a chance on this beaut and the deed was done! The purchase was made from a firm in South Bend, Indiana, USA (isn't the internet wonderful) for a total of $303, approx £165, of which the actual bass cost $202 around about £110, pretty good considering the going price for this make in the UK is around £150-£200, and it arrived in less than a week so I was very pleased. Advantages: Good graphics for the time, good music.
Disadvantages: No story, bad gameplay, very difficult and seems biased towards the AI.

Advantages: Very comfortable shave, actually even relaxing to use, you can shave in the shower, its waterproof
Disadvantages: shaving under the nose can be tricky because of the blade size, easily clogged precision trimmer.
