...I have to say it was a dificult decision for me in buying a top of the range compact digital camera. My original idea was to replace my Nikon compact that i have had for 4 or 5 years . Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 - Next best thing to an SLR?

Advantages: Monstrous zoom, Intelligent Auto, Price

...The Lumix FZ28 is an upgrade to the Lumix FZ18 and is almost identical on the surface. The LCD screen is now 2.7", compared with the 2.5" screen on the FZ18 and there is an extra switch on the back now to switch between Recording and Playback mode - which used to be handled via the mode-dial - a definite improvement in my opinion. I understand that not everyone will be upgrading from the earlier model so I will keep this comparison to a minimum from this point in. The aforementioned LCD screen is the same size as you would find on comparable models such as the Fuji FinePix S1500 or the Canon Powershot SX10 IS, but it is very bright and easy to see, even in sunlight - certainly easier than the Fuji. Advantages: Large zoom, small size, extensive ISO rating and Leica lens
Disadvantages: No remote shutter release, facility, no auxiliary flash shoe, a little fragile.

Panasonic have produced one of the longest digital lenses on the market yet they do not fit a remote shutter release facility on the FZ18; incredible! Just which of the designers made this omission? To use your long lens and tripod you have to make do with a Universal shutter release adapter Velcroed round the camera body. Windows 7 - The Best OS Yet!

Advantages: Great new toolbar, excellent personalisation, overall brilliant design

...In July, I downloaded the Release Candidate of Windows 7 to evaluate the new operating system and I have to say it's the best version of Windows yet! It surpasses Vista in every way. Physically light, technically weighty, more zoom than you think

Advantages: superb image quality, zoom and macro, great image stabilisation and features

...We've had our FZ7 for 3 years and, in that time, we've not once regretted buying it. The camera is a compact zoom and fits really well in your hand. It starts up pretty quickly once you remember to remove the lenscap and has an array of features that will satisfy even the most ambitious of amateurs. What makes this device though is the zoom. At 12x optical, this gives you plenty of depth. What's more, and this is a little known feature, if you decrease the resolution from the standard 6 megapixels to the 4 and then 3, you can increase this optical zoom to as much as 16.5x - very handy when you need it. The image stabilisation system that goes with the zoom is very very useful too and means that you won't have as much shake on those telephoto shots. Windows 7: Is what Microsoft is saying really true?

Advantages: Runs really fast, Some very good features, any decent machine can run it.
Disadvantages: The Price. It looks like vista and it really is just a brush up on the old OS

...Windows 7 has been said by Microsoft as being much improved and everyone would be happy with the end result. But is it really better, below is my review of a few sections which I believe is most important and compare it to older versions. Speed: 9/10 Much faster than Vista. To compare with the Vista OS, on Vista it took around 30 secs to 45 secs to boot up and log me in. Now on Windows 7 it takes 20 - 30 secs to boot up. Shut down is also so much faster. Vista = 15 secs... Windows 7 = 5 secs..... So there is a huge improvement. Also when running programs or browsing the internet you feel like this Operating System is very smooth and just does what you want (most of the time) Program Compatablilty: 8/10 Most Programs that run on Vista will run on Windows 7 (32-bit) very well.
