I can see why it flopped... but that doesn't make it bad.
Review of Papyrus - Grand Prix Legends (PC) by
DaveD
Advantages: The best driving simulation there is.
Disadvantages: Not for those who like arcade physics in their games
...Papyrus have long been hailed for being the ultimate simulation programmers. Why? Well, because Grand Prix Legends is the most accurate simulation there is about, at the moment, and it's nearly 3 years old! The idea of the game is to give you, the driver, the ultimate experience - to drive a 1969 grand prix car... which is before they had wings. The drivers used to skid cars round corners in high speed power slides with great skill and dexterity. And that makes this game hard, no, VERY hard. The physics are so accurate that it actually become harder to drive that a real 1969 grand prix car, as you have all the drivability, or lack of, these cars, but you get none of the sensations. There are patches now available that give force feedback to the game, which helps, but it's still not like being there (like I'd know!). The graphics...

Not so much as any shops...
Review of Beechwood Place - Cheltenham by
evesham1988la
Advantages: Well designed
Disadvantages: Lack of Shops
...Beechwood Place is the second 'shopping centre' in Cheltenham but would be more noticeable as a shopping centre if it had more shops.
The main shop is a department store, Debenhams, at the back. Other than this, there is a very small selection of shops to choose from such as:
* Thorntons
* Legends
* d2
* MVC
* Julian Graves.
Beechwood also claim to have Next and The Disney Store but these are not actually in the centre. There are a few independant shops, although they find themselves barely profitable so many are vacant. This is why the whole of the second floor is virtually deserted.
However, apart from the poor selection of shops the design of the centre is quite outstanding. At the centre there is a sort of a giant pond area surrounded by plants and bridges over certain parts. There are benches too, so it is ideal to have lunch...

IBM PC 300GL easy to upgrade
Review of IBM PC 300 GL PII 333 MHz by
richardcatling777
Advantages: Interchangeable processors
Disadvantages: Its a desktop
...The IBM PC 300GL was origionaly made for the business sector.
The higher spec machine similar to the 300GL was the 300PL which some had AGP graphics and LAN comunications support.
This was the lower spec of the two machines but still there wasn't alot of difference.
If you wanted to have better graphics or LAN support you could fit a PCI graphics card or an extra LAN card.
Many motherboards of this spec had at least 4 PCI slots and for this machine that was enough.
Some machines were fitted with Celeron 233-333 processors and others were fitted with Pentium 2's or 3's.
The higher Pentium 3 machines were the better becuase of the extra 256 or 512 L2 cache which made processing quicker.
My origional machine had a Celeron 333 with 64mb ram fitted.
The machine i then upgraded to a Pentium 3 which had 512 L2 cache and 384mb memory...

GET IT. It's the only tool you should use...
Review of C++ Builder Personal 6 Complete package by
petermantell
Advantages: Quick development, ease of use, its free...
Disadvantages: It's not as popular as Micro$oft's dev stuff, but who cares, this is free. Also good for beginners but still powerful for advanced "nerds"...
...I have used all of the first 4 versions of C++Builder, and I have to say that every single version of them has been excellent. They are the only tool I use for C++ development, and soon they will be bringing out a version for linux, so you can write programs for both platforms… The Builder is free every so often on PCPlus, so you don’t have to pay for it. I personally bought the Professional version of C++Builder 1, and since then have been getting the free ones. I do a lot of development in OpenGL, and found the Builder very useful for creating wrapper classes for OpenGL. Also, the Win32 SDK comes with it, which is indispensable. GET THE C++BUILDER NOW....

People in glass-houses beware
Review of Black&Decker GL20 by
damaj
Advantages: Very easy to use, very light
Disadvantages: possibly too powerful
...The strimmer GL20 is extremely light and very easy to use. It comes as standard with the usual plastic string and very easy assembly instructions.
As with all strimmers it is very simple to use and great for reaching those difficult edges/corners, bits under wall, etc., and as with all of them it works on both wet and dry, long or short, grass.
There isn't too much more to say about a strimmer other than to issue a warning to all who use them close to Conservatories/ greenhouses, etc.,
Don't use it too near to glass windows/doors.
I have just had to pay £150 to a glazing company to replace a unit in my conservatory. This is not the fault of the strimmer - indeed the strimmer was doing an excellent job - but I did not see a small stone on the edge of the lawn.
Result very pretty web-pattern all over the double glazed unit and small...

Best family car by a mile
Review of Peugeot 405 GLi Break by
MarcusPerkins
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
...If you are looking for a used cheap car for your family and you have a restricted budget, then I can highly recommend a Peugeot 405. I have owned two of them now, a 1.6 GL and a 1.6 GR. Both of these are carb models, which is the only criticism that I could level at the car. The carbs on 1.6 engines are unreliable and require tuning every 30,000miles. I would suggest choosing a fuel-injected model. Both of my cars have been saloons and even with three kids I can still fit the entire luggage in the gargantuan boot. Economy and range are excellent thanks to a large 70-litre fuel tank. The interior is hard wearing and comfortable. The list of equipment on my current 1.6 GL J 92 is excellent. I paid 1400.00 for the car a year ago and it came with Electric windows and sunroof and remote central locking/alarm. The 1.6 is group 6 insurance...

The Legend Continues - HOORAY
Review of Grand Prix Legends (PC) by
davidbuttery
Advantages: Superb physics, massive user community, cheap, speed bug fixed!
Disadvantages: Very hard, no official support
...(NB: Updates are at the *end* - and you do need to read *all* the way!)
Grand Prix Legends is, without question, the finest racing simulation commercially available, and has been since its release way back in 1998. And "simulation" is the operative word here. This is not some PlayStation arcade game that you can "win" within a weekend - this is the pinnacle of driving games.
It's an unusual game, because you are not driving the latest electronic-gizmo-filled F1 or rally car. Instead, you take the wheel of a 1967 Formula One car, at classic (and dangerous!) circuits such as Spa, Silverstone, Zandvoort and the awesome Nurburgring (14 miles, over 180 corners). These 1967 cars have almost nothing in the way of driver aids - you control the car through corners more with the throttle than with the wheel. Just because they're over 30 years...

Not only a Strimmer but it's also a Weed Muncher
Review of Black&Decker GL720 by
holdfast
Advantages: Good Design and Balance
Disadvantages: Does not come with Headlights for night time use
...When it comes to Gardening I am no Percy Titsmarch or an Alan Thrower, if there is a job to do in the Garden and there is a gadget or machine that will make the job easy, its for me.
So as the grass was knee length in the front garden and there was a danger of small children getting lost, I felt the it was time for the Big Cut.
Off I toddled to my local B&Q and browsed through the bewildering array of Strimmers.
I decided on the Black & Decker GL720.
I was drawn to this by the fact that the tube running from the handle to the strimmer head was curved, this appeared to me to be a good design feature as when held with 2 hands the strimmer head is at the correct angle for normal work. The length of the tube is also adjustable, in other words its Telescopic. The tube also can be rotated so you can trim the edges of the garden...

The Real Fender Telecaster with a different feel
Review of G&L ASAT Classic Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar by
the_pinups
Advantages: As they say, this is the REAL Fender, but not exactly
Disadvantages: A bit expensive, not exactly a tele
...G&L fans will tell you that Leo Fender built a great guitar (Telecaster) and then he and George Fullerton improved on the design and quality with the ASAT. And they could be right. The ASAT certainly feels a little different from Fender, and everyone has their own opinion about how a Telecaster should feel like. Afterall, there are many different Telecasters made by Fender, and everyone has their favourites. The ASAT classic semi-hollow is one of teles in the ASAT range, and the chances are that if you like ASATs then you'll probably like this guitar.
Anyway, here are the features:
ASAT Classic Semi-hollow w/single F-hole, made in the USA, bookmatched ash body, honeyburst finish, soft v-neck, 12" radius maple neck (some birdseye), rosewood fretboard, medium jumbo frets, two pickups, tortoise pickguard, one tone, one volume, pickup...
