Buffalo WBMR-G54 wireless router - a real buffalo?

Advantages: Reasonable price, easy to use, lots of advanced settings

...I bought this router from a local Argos shop at an emergency situation i.e. I want it now and therefore not at the best price - 49.99. Reason: My all singing and all dancing Dynamode R-ADSL-C4W-EG - wireless router had lost its main function, 'internet connectivity' after a month or so of continuous use (see my other review, now updated, for details). All is left is wireless communication i.e. useless. The return of this router back to Amazon caused me a week (lots of emails + recorded delivery + check that the refund includes the recorded delivery etc) For Argos, there is an obvious advantage - if there is something wrong with it, I just take it back for a refund/replacement on the same day. This router comes with detail instructions (step-by-step) for installation however it does not cater for the presence of a firewall...

Router minefield!!!

...When looking to go wireless in the computer world it is an absolute minefield when it comes to wireless routers/modems. I sat at my latop(tethered to the telephone socket with wires) scouring google for write ups about this router and that router when i came across this one. Now this is rated as being the best selling router/modem in the UK and has been for some time. I think i paid around £40 from ebuyer.com. I chose it because of the fact its reasonably priced. Its a good trustworthy brand and it seemed to come up to scratch on speed. Upon opening the box the installation was very simple indeed. Advantages: durable.
Disadvantages: can cut out without warning leaving you to troubleshooting it.

...The belkin 54g wireless router is very good when it comes to a strong signal, yet i still find it immensly annoying!!! When its running smoothly, it is no problem what so ever, but every now and then, maybe once every week or so, the signal will cut out for no reason and you will find yourself VERY frustrated when trying to retrieve it. apart from this minor annoyance, the belkin is generally a very good piece of kit for your money. I payed around £50 for mine, and havent regretted it too much yet. the quality is OK but not amazing, its built well as i found out when i trod on mine, not even a crack appeared, there was nothing damaged what so ever... wich impressed me because it looks plastic and cheap. the belkin is very easy to use and can easily be reset with the little push button on the back if it does decide to go a bit off...

Advantages: Works very well 3 floors up.
Disadvantages: If you are on Vista, takes a costly telephone call to get you connected.

...We bought this wireless router as my son wanted to use his Wii on the internet. His room is on the 3rd floor and the computer and router are on the ground floor. It was simple to set up and the instructions were good, however, because we are using Windows Vista, nothing is ever straight forward. With one longish phone call to India, via the number on the instructions to ring, everything was sorted out. The phone call took 35 minutes for which I am sure i was charged a fortune for and there is no way I could have worked it out for myself, it was far too complicated to get this router to work on Vista. Once it was working though everything has gone smoothly. I do find that the internet is somewhat slower however he has a great connection on the 3rd floor and we have no complaints. Although the initial set up was frustrating...

Advantages: great signal, cheap, does the job, easy to use, great security, easy to set up

...This is by far the best router i have owned and used ( compared to an ordinary wired router and a belkin and also a netgear wireless router). It is very easy to set up this router, infact i did nothing. plugged it in, hooked up all the connections, and it automatically recognised my settings (i have virgin media broadband). I have had this router for about roughly 6 months now and havnt really experienced any real problems. one downside to this product is when going into the homepage of the router. At times when such tings are worded its hard to understand what it means until you actually try it out, for example: \"If checked, the undefined item in MAC Address list is allowed to access Internet;Unchecked means reverse\" I actually understand what it means but i had to read it more than once. Belkin G+ Mimo wireless router

Advantages: Wireless with 4 wired ports. Good range and speed.
Disadvantages: Seems to be a bit unstable when playing games

...I recently bought this router along with a new wireless enabled laptop (Toshiba A210-17I). I opted for this model as it also includes 4 wired ports (I play my Xbox 360 online and prefer it to be 'hard wired'. The unit is nice and light and looks smart in its silvery grey colour. It has two antenna's and is G+ Mimo, which basically means it is slightly faster and has a better range than a normal G+ router. My internet connection is upstairs and I have no problem connecting anywhere within the house (its too cold to try outside :).
