I used my two week free trial with this company and remained with them for a couple of monthsbefore moving on to try many other companies free trials (and winning a new DVD player on Tesco DVD rental site on their free trial offer). Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

...At first I wasn't convinced by up-scaling DVD player technology but was persuaded after reading an article in "What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision" magazine. Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. All the components such as cables, remote and manuals were well presented in their own protective plastic bags, to keep them protected. The player...

Gabriel Blight

Advantages: good characters, brilliant storyline, good manual and music

...scenes at the start, which probably would have been as nice a touch. But I digress. The game is what you're interested in right? Or am I being presumptious? The story is one of the best I have stumbled across in a long time...in fact, the last time I found such a good story for a game was in...hmmmm...let me seee...Gabriel Knight 1. The characters are far closer to the original, and far, far away(thankfully) from those evil people who portrayed our favourite...erm, 'shadow hunter' in the second game. Tim Curry is back, doing his voice(gabriel's) which is only a good thing (although his voice does veer off track from time to time)and the graphics and humour are relatively decent. The innovative new camera system(not so innovative now like) is fun and easy to get to grips with(basically you zoom around and go uuuuup and down...

Excellent Peter Gabriel Concert From 2003

Advantages: Great performance, strong setlist, fascinating stage show, well produced.
Disadvantages: Can't think of any! Any personal preferences over song choices, I suppose.

...Filmed in Milan in 2003, this DVD shows a fantastic display from Peter Gabriel's 'Growing Up' tour. A very strong setlist and a great stage setup makes this a fantastic concert. The stage itself is circular, surrounded on all sides by the audience, which gives it quite an enclosed feel. It also rotates, which is used for many interesting purposes! Gabriel explains that with the 'Growing Up' tour, he wanted to have a 'vertical' theme for the stage, with things physically moving up and down. The stage setup seems to 'evolve' throughout the concert, constantly shifting, revealing new platforms and objects. All this is accompanied by a good light show, and filmed on a wide variety of cameras. Gabriel seems to use some new kind of interesting stage show on almost each song - whether it be riding a bike on 'Solsbury Hill', going inside...

GABRIEL KNIGHT BLOOD FOR THE VAMPIRES?

...In GK3 there are many superb characters that you meet along gabriel's adventure, including Moself who was in a previous GK game. Also his partner Grace comes along to France where Gabriel ends up. The game starts with a short movie of 2 Kidnappers taking Prince James of Albanys son. Where Gabriel follows them on a train and ends up near a small town called Rennes-Le-Chateau in France. The game has time segments which conclude after your charcter has done significant things. Gabriel is a private detactive from New Orleans in America. Once he has his wits about him the next morning he checks out the small town of Rennes-Le-Chateau, during this time you find out that there's also a tour group staying at gabriels hotel, which is Emilio Baza, John Wilkes, Mosely, Estelle Stiles, Lady Howard and Vittorio Buchelli. Wise up to Aimee Mann

Advantages: Catchy songs with wonderful lyrics
Disadvantages: Takes a while to grow on you

...When it was first released, the only way you could have bought this album was through Aimee Mann's own website. Now, thanks in no small measure to the success of the film Magnolia, coupled with Mann's superb Oscar nominated song, 'Save Me', it's getting the kind of widespread release it deserves. If ever there was a cloud with a silver lining, it was Universal's decision to reject this album on the grounds that it saw no 'radio friendly' singles on it. Having since bought back her songs and released them independently on her own label, she's now in a position to say a big "screw you" to her previous employers. Bachelor No. 2 is filled with the kind of catchy songs and simple, direct lyrics that stick in your head for months on end, and it was no surprise to see it on many a critic's top ten list at the end of 2000. Best Mann work to date.

Advantages: Tremendous, relentlessly honest lyrics.
Disadvantages: Not many, if you can handle its brutally sad honesty.

...I must say, these are very interesting insights from the other reviewers. Agreed, this album is surely Mann's saddest. It's also her best. And, yes, it is amazing how she can write such pain-racked lyrics, while still delivering such a warm, listenable sound. Still, I contend that "Real Bad News" is effective. The song is about self-loathing, and the melody and lyrics do drown and flounder, but that is what self-contempt does to people. It makes them dull and listless, just like the sound of the song. I was impressed with this track. I like "Moth" too. I agree with Mann that "Nothing fuels a good flirtation like need and anger and desperation." Hence, the "hotter than hot" flame is a well deployed image, in my opinion. It also invigorates the heavy-themed album with a burst of passion, which is necessary toward the end. The fuse...
