Rolls Royce of Appliances

Advantages: High quality, designer product
Disadvantages: Price

...I have worked with Gaggenau appliances for more than 4years and my confidence grows on the brand every day. Many of you may not have heard of the brand, maybe due to the fact it not being a common household appliance such as Neff and Bosch that are available in large stores like Comet and Curries but a brand above the norm and available through middle to high end kitchen retailers. The History: Gaggenau is a name of a small town in Germany. In 1880, whilst the Industrial Revolution helped people with ideas, a factory in the small town of Gaggenau was the place known for where products 'came to life'. It was a place that manufactured enameled signs, coal and gas stoves and bicycles. Gaggenau became a known brand internationally after 1961 when a passionate chef took over the reins of the factory and started to manufacturer top...

Shopping online at EB is a waste of time

Advantages: good price, loyalty scheme, nice design
Disadvantages: your order may never actually turn up, which in anyone's books must not be a good thing

...Eb.uk.com, then, the online arm of the respected high-street trader. Elecronics Boutique. What you might think would be a good place to start your christmas shopping, yes? perhaps not. Recently I tried to purchase a product from the site. I ordered, it was a couple of pounds cheaper than in the high street and delivery was free. The web site told me that my order would be dispatched immediatlely, and that I would receive it within two business days. Now, I know that things take a long time to get done in business, but when I still hadn't received my order two weeks later, I was slightly annoyed. I had only ordered it online because it would be quicker than in the high street, where GAME had run out of stock on that particular item. When I emailed EB about this, I received no reply, and then emailed twice more, getting no reply...

Making bad photographers into good ones!

Advantages: Well built, easy and fun to use.
Disadvantages: None.

...As a model I spend most of my time in front of a camera and I have therefore never owned a good one of my own. Recently I decided to put this right, I did not go crazy and buy a big DSLR like the pros shoot me with but I did spend decent money on a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS62EB-R which was recommended to me by thebigc1690 (a guy on here who knows a thing or two about cameras and is also one of my photographers. Now my review for this camera will be in no way technical, simply because I would make a fool of myself if I tried to go into how all the settings work, I just know that they do. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS62EB-R has a ten megapixel sensor which means you get very high quality and very clear and detailed images and it also has a 4 x optical zoom so you can get a bit closer to what you are shooting without actually getting closer...

EB is high street why bother

Advantages: Reputable, editorial content, smart layout
Disadvantages: Prices

...There are many online game stores, but EB has the backing of a high street store foundation. Most people usually turn to EB for their gaming needs, but I often think why? Okay... "its convenient" they say. Maybe, but in an online store, every game store is just a click away. The prices online are above average, you're paying almost RRP prices for the latest releases, whereas gameswire.com usually get their latest games in at £30! The layout of the site is good, with some editorial content which isn't bad. Basically, I would say look around at other gaming stores, there are much better. gameplay.com gameswire.com and www.gamesarecheap.co.uk...

Trevor James Artemis Saxophone (Alto)

Advantages: Cheap for a saxophone, decent sound, good, reliable manufacturer
Disadvantages: Some parts not that robust, need to shop around for best price

...I was recommended the Trevor James Artemis Saxophone (Eb) by my music teacher when I began learning the saxophone about 7 months ago. It was recomended mainly due to price, and for the price I am pretty sure that there is not much better out there. I have realised that it is a 'beginners' sax as the tone is not as rich as a more expensive one, nonetheless it is perfectly adequate for the beginner and I expect to keep it for some years, and, though I may buy another sax too, I will probably keep this as a spare rather than pass it on. It is a fairly good looking saxophone, not that this is very important, what is important is that all the keys and mechanics work well. Considering the prices that most saxophones are, there is no doubt that more people would play if it was widely known that this saxophone can be purchased...

Weaves a Web of Joy amd Sadness

Advantages: excellent prose, well developed characters, life affirming themes
Disadvantages: sensitive children may cry when a main character passes

...While many people may be familiar with E.B. White's stories, Charlotte's Web and Stuart Little, thanks to recent blockbuster films, they may not be aware that these stories were indeed books first. They are well worth the read, for no matter how good a film is, the books themselves have subtle messages that cannot be translated into cinematic experiences. E.B. White's prose alone is something that would be a tragedy for any person to miss, and the books speak well to the hearts of children, teens, and adults, earning themselves a place in literature rather than mere popular fiction. This book has won two major literary distinctions, the Newberry Honors distinction in 1963 and the Laura Ingalls Wilder Medal in 1970. Charlotte's Web itself is a masterpiece of a story. It is the tragio-comic story of a young pig named Wilbur and focuses...

Tiny camera, huge possibilities

Advantages: Wide angle shooting, many manual features and a large screen.
Disadvantages: The flash, the video capture and the price.

...It really is becoming amazing what manufacturers are attempting to cram into tiny point and shoot cameras these days. The latest one floating around our camera club for us to tinker with is the Lumix DMC- FX500EB-K from Panasonic, a tiny unit measuring only 95x57x23mm and weighing a lightweight 175g but packed with tons of features usually only found on DSLR`s. Panasonic have been producing the Lumix range for some time now and they are becoming a very popular point and shoot camera and just about the only one on the market that can compete with Sony`s Cybershot range. This particular Lumix is one of the very few point and shoot digital cameras that can shoot it wide angle mode and whilst it is of course nowhere near as effective as a DSLR with a wide angle lens it is a great little addition to a camera like this. The wide angle...

Diamond review  Another Nail In Tape's Coffin?

Advantages: Good picture quality. Easy to navigate and manage disks
Disadvantages: Dearer than tape. Only so-so instruction book

...Please Note: This machine is a DVD Recorder, not just a DVD Player as listed by Ciao. I?ve told them this, especially as they already have a DVD Recorder section, but please don?t start rating me ?Off Topic? for that reason alone. It?s the ?Topic? that?s slightly ?Off?, not me. Meanwhile, back at the plot??. Just when you thought I?d gone soft, with all spiritual stuff, and sitting in pitch-dark tanks of water, along comes another of my gadget reviews. A while back, you?d never have convinced me that a home DVD recorder would become a practical replacement for the humble VCR. Since then two things have happened. 1) My trusty (now UN-trusty) main Sony VCR has started going west, and 2) DVD recorders have got a lot cheaper since I last looked, quelle surprise. For example, the Panasonic DMRE50EBS of which I write now costs...
