Filtered to perfection
Advantages: Many advantages, see review.
Disadvantages: None.
...The professional photographers like myself or the high end amateur photographers will probably all have used or tried using some sort of lens filter or another.
Lens filters are designed to screw on to the end of lenses (mainly DSLR) to create different effects, you get many types of filters from the simple UV like this one through to polarizer's and star filters.
This Hama UV filter is mainly used for cutting out the harmful effects that can be had both on your lens and on your images by UV light but they are handy also for the simple task of protecting your lens glass and that is why I for one have one on all my lenses at all times.
If you catch the glass of your lens and scratch it or god forbid break it you are looking at a huge outlay for a new one where as if you have a simple UV filter, it takes the knocks and can be...

Advantages: Filters out UV haze, Protects your lens front element.
Disadvantages: None
...Introduction
Ultra violet filters are probably one of the least glamorous and most mundane photographic accessories around, yet they are an essential part of of your system, and practically all photographers fit them to the front of their lenses and leave them there.
So who makes them?, what are they?, what do they do? and why would you want one? I will try and answer these questions below.
Firstly who makes them?

filtered water - an unrealistic dream?
Advantages: easy to use
Disadvantages: hasn't improved the taste of our tea
...We live in a hard water area in Bristol and are always having problems with limescale - we've been through many kettles in the last few years. My husband and I are used to the taste of the water now, so we don't really notice it, but when we have visitors they often complain about the drinks we serve. So, we were thrilled when my parents bought us a Brita Elemaris Cool Water Filter jug for Christmas along with a refill pack of 3 MAXTRA cartridges. Apparently they were fed up of the strange taste of our tea!
Brita make the following claims - "You will enjoy cleaner, clearer, great tasting water" and "protects your domestic appliances against limescale build up". "The BRITA MAXTRA cartridge reduces substances like chlorine, limescale..., aluminium, heavy metals... and certain pesticides as well as organic impurities." Excellent...

Filters Ahead Of The Rest
Advantages: Great Tasting Water
Disadvantages: Wants You To Change Filters
...I have had this water filter for about a year now and brought it after I dropped exactly the same model and cracked the jug. I think so much of this product I went and brought a new one without hesitation and have recommended as well as buying it as a present for many friends.
In case you haven?t heard of a water filter it comprises of a plastic jug with another ?plastic thingy? that sits in the top with a hole in the bottom into which you screw in your filter. Your tap water (yuk) goes into the top ?plastic thingy? and filters through and then you pour it out and enjoy your water (yum). I missed out a plastic lid that goes on top just to keep water from sploshing out when you pour of dust getting in.
I keep mine in the door of the fridge because cold refrigerated water tastes so much better than tap water. Set into the top...

Brita Elemaris water filter jug
Advantages: The water tastes better than previous filters, it's much easier to fill and use.
Disadvantages: Still takes quite a bit of cleaning but again, a step up from the original jugs
...Having owned and used a Brita water filter on a regular basis for several years, I couldn't resist purchasing the Elemaris when I saw it on offer at a bargain price on the shelves of our local Asda.
My original filter jug was full of water, so the first thing I did on unpacking the Elemaris was to pour a glassful from each jug to compare them. I was pleased to observe that the water in the glass poured from the Elemaris appeared cleaner and much clearer than that from my old faithful.
On tasting both samples, the one poured from the Elemaris won hands down - it tasted much fresher than the drink from the other jug.
Our tapwater has quite a nasty taste when unfiltered but the Elemaris removed this.
The Elemaris is much easier to fill than the earlier models and the filter does it's work much more quickly - my first jug took...

Rolls Royce of Appliances
Advantages: High quality, designer product
Disadvantages: Price
...I have worked with Gaggenau appliances for more than 4years and my confidence grows on the brand every day. Many of you may not have heard of the brand, maybe due to the fact it not being a common household appliance such as Neff and Bosch that are available in large stores like Comet and Curries but a brand above the norm and available through middle to high end kitchen retailers.
The History:
Gaggenau is a name of a small town in Germany. In 1880, whilst the Industrial Revolution helped people with ideas, a factory in the small town of Gaggenau was the place known for where products 'came to life'. It was a place that manufactured enameled signs, coal and gas stoves and bicycles.
Gaggenau became a known brand internationally after 1961 when a passionate chef took over the reins of the factory and started to manufacturer top...

Brita Marella - excellent value, easy to change filters
Advantages: Cheap, great colour range, easy to change filter
Disadvantages: lid isn't held on only by a small click, comes off easy if knocked
...I picked up one of these on ebay after noticing white residue in the water from our taps. I read quite a few reviews for many different water filters and found a lot of complaints about hard to install/exchange filter components.
I found this Brita one, with very easy plug in filters. Works great, no strange taste, and it filters the water reasonably quickly. Capacity is good, and the colours these come in are very nice. We got a red (passion) coloured one, which is rather tasty for a kitchen appliance I guess.
You have to change the filters on these every month, go to ebay to buy a pack of 12 or so to get a decent price on these.
Watch out for the lid if you've just filled it with water and are going to prematurely pour a glass of water - the water can burst from the top as it's only held on by a click and gravity.
Otherwise super...

Brita Water Filter
Advantages: no more descaling
Disadvantages: none
...We live in a hard water area and before we purchased our Brita Water Filter we were having to de-scale our kettle every 6 weeks, alse we used to get horrible "scum" on the surface of out tea and coffee.
Since buying our filter the element in our kettle has remained lyme-scale free and this is after 3 months. We also use the filtered water in our steam iron which has stopped the lymescale building up in there to.
It is very simple to use...just fill from the cold tap direct and the water will pass through the filter cartridge into the jug....once this process has taken place the water is ready to be poored into your kettle or iron.
We would not be without our filter jug now as out hot drinks taste alot better and i am sure that the lack of lymescale must give the kettle and iron and longer lifespan.
Catridges should be...

The Water filter
Advantages: Water tastes better.
Disadvantages: Filters can be expensive to keep replacing.
...My opinion is about a boots water cooler.
This is a product that I think that every household should have.
I bought one of these recently, they have been advertised a lot on television, so I thought that it would be a good idea.
On hot days this product is a star, you put it in the fridge and nicely chilled water comes out. I don't like the taste of tap water when it has that strong chlorine taste on rare occasions.
I tried the water on its own and it tasted lovely. It was really refreshing and knowing that the water is good for you is a bonus because all of the bad chemicals (e.g. chlorine) are taken out through the filter.
My only complaint about an amazing product such as this one is that the filters can be expensive to keep replacing, and there is nothing wrong with tap water anyway (or so I have been told).
This...
