ROBIN HOOD'S BAY
Advantages: Beautifully preserved and evocative
Disadvantages: STEEP
...I've always wondered why Robin Hood's Bay was in North Yorkshire and not in Nottinghamshire. One explanation might be that Nottinghamshire, being landlocked, is not over-endowed with bays. Another is the sheer logistics of moving it from one county to another.
Robin Hood's Bay is around 5 miles south of Whitby, and some 15 miles north of Scarborough on the North Sea coast of North Yorks. I've researched a little, and I can find no explanation of why this place has such an interesting name - it doesn't matter anyway.
There are records dating back from 1536, apparently, of a small settlement of around 50 houses and 20 fishing boats but nothing about its namesake. Besides, the locals prefer to call it Bay Town.
There may be some tenuous connection to the 'Prince of Thieves' though. Fishing has always been the mainstay of this...

My New Addiction - Robin Hood?
Advantages: Dramatic, Good Acting, Fantastic Soundtrack, Brilliant Plot!
Disadvantages: Would have loved more Special Features :(
...I am a Robin Hood addict. (Richard Armitage and Jonas Armstrong are just one of the reasons... If you get my drift)
What Is It?
This DVD contains the first five episodes of the BBC new series about the legendary outlaw, Robin Hood. This was first shown on the BBC, and later released as DVD's, however they can now be bought as a full box set, and no longer per every 5 episodes. There are three volumes in this series, all of which I own. This is another take on the outlaw, and is seen to give him a new light and make him much more exciting and thrilling. This is PG rated and is suitable for children, as long as you don't mind them watching the odd sword fight.
Since 2006, a new series of Robin Hood was shown on the BBC and most recently series 3 is on our screens. I watched the first episode of series one and since then have...

A Fantastic Flying Finale For Our Hero Hood!
Advantages: Fantastic Acting, Drama, Stories, Action, Fight Scenes, Romance and Price
Disadvantages: Difficult to understand if haven't watched first volumes.
...After buying Series 1 volumes 1 and 2, it only seemed right to buy the third volume. Of course after giving the first two 5 stars, I had exceptionally high expectations for this one as well. Not only did this have to round off the first series but of course still have the sparkle that the first two had. I have to admit I was hoping a lot for this DVD so it really had to do well for it to get 5 stars again. And it did, in fact I think I could say these were the strongest and best episodes in the series.
What Is It?
The BBC decided to re-make a high budget of the famous Sherwood outlaw, Robin Hood. This was first shown on the BBC, and later released as DVD's, however they can now be bought as a full box set, and no longer per every 5 episodes. This DVD is made up of the LAST four episodes of the series, so after this you will left...

Robin Hood mixes comedy, romance and action
Advantages: Great stuff
Disadvantages: A few errors, but nothing major
...Robin Hood Prince of Thieves is the 1991 take on the legend of Robin Hood, stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. This film was hailed as one of the biggest films of the 1990s, especially by women (!) and features an all star cast and a soundtrack including Bryan Adams' 'Everything I do' which spent about a million weeks at number 1 in the charts. Director Kevin Reynolds gives us a rollicking feature length display of sword fighting, comedy, action and romance, and the cast do as is required and give us a damn good film.
Robin of Locksley (Kevin Costner) has been away fighting in the Crusades. Escaping with a Moor named Azeem (Morgan Freeman) he heads back to his native England after many years to see his father and live out the rest of his life in peace. Not so much luck! In the King's absence, his evil brother John has taken...

Hooded towels
Advantages: look pretty, usually soft
Disadvantages: expensive, small, pretty useless
...I have fallen into the trap of buying hooded towels for both of my children and each time wondering why I bothered.
Basically what they are are very small towels, more like hand towels, with an extra triangle shaped piece of towel sown into one corner in order to make a hood.
This time I chose a Mothercare pack of three towels in shades of pink and white. This cost me £12, but if you shop around you can find them slightly cheaper at around £3 per towel, or a lot more expensive like toys r us at £9.99 per towel!
I was disapointed with the mothercare ones as while in the pack they look quite thick and soft but upon opening you realise that the thickness comes from layers of cardboard wedged in between each towel! They are thin and not exactly rough but they could be softer.
The idea is that you put the hood over the babys head...

Survival of the fittest in the hood
Advantages: gritty, dark, well acted, brilliant script
Disadvantages: nothing
...Boyz n the Hood is the definitive (Afro) American gangster movie of our time and alongside Menace 2 Society, one of the films you must see before you die.
Essentially its a coming of age tale, about growing up on the mean streets of LA, more specifically Compton. Fighting to survive.
Ice Cube, isn't the main star as you might think, but lends credibilty to it and pulls off his character very well.
The young Laurence Fishburn (Larry as he was known then) plays the father figure, trying to stop the youth from their bad ways.
Ups and downs, the film has some sad tales of revenge and loss.
The sound track is just perfect and compliments the film very well.
In my humble opinion, this film is one of Cuba Gooding Jr.'s best appearances on the big screen and the start of an outstanding career for him.
The whole cast...

Robin Hood Prince of Films

Babies In Da Hood
Advantages: Keeps baby warm
Disadvantages: Get a bit small after a couple of months
...I have several hooded towels for my baby boy, Oliver. Some were gifts from family and friends and some were bought along with the weekly shop from Asda. This has given me a wide assortment of colours and types.
** A What? **
Alongside your bath time essentials of baby soap and shampoo and a hand cloth or baby sponge, you are going to need something to wrap baby in when they get out the bath. A normal towel will do, but when you have a tiny newborn you might find that normal towels are too big.
Also, the transition from the warm water of a bath to the cooler air of the bathroom or nursery can result in baby getting a bit chilly. A large proportion of body heat is lost through baby's head, so a hooded towel is an ideal solution to this problem.
They are usually square shaped, about 75cm by 75cm, and have a hood in one...

Robin Hood: Men In Tights
Advantages: Funny, has Cary Ewles in it
Disadvantages: Random at parts
...Robin Hood: Men In Tights, is one of my favourite comedy movies. First because I love Robin Hood, and second because I love Cary Ewles.
The story is about... Robin Hood, and everyone should sort of know that story. Except that it has a twist, it is a spoof movie. It is directed by Mel Brooks and stars Cary Ewles, as the famous Robin Hood.
Robin Hood as usual robs from the rich to give to the poor, so with the comedy spin off, Robin is doing just that. While getting the attentions of the beautiful Maid Marian played by Amy Yasbeck. With the artful music of the merry men (they do a little song and dance).
Mel Brooks completely turns the story upside down adding comedic value to it. Such as adding a blind man as one of the merry men, and having his house pulled away like it was on wheels. Or one of my favourite scenes, which is...
