The baby Grand of Coffee
Advantages: Quaility, Quality, Quaility
Disadvantages: You wont ever use instant again
...This is my second Gaggia, and believe me when you buy your second Gaggia its not because the first broke down, its because you have decided to move up in the brand. My old one is salivating my girlfriend now, so I can now get great coffee when I stay over with her.
I use Illy coffee with my Gaggia BABY, and it just means that you get grade A high quality coffee shop coffee when at home. I purchased when in Brown Thomas's in Dublin, the price for me converted was £198 which is pretty par for the course if you shop around. Previous experience told me I was buying quality so I was happy to purchase away from home, and my partner lives in Ireland anyway. There is some excellent quality options on the web from very good quality suppliers.
The Gaggia comes with a 15 bar pressure Pump, this is an important feature as my expert...

A Thing of Beauty: the Gaggia Baby Classic
Advantages: Makes café quality espresso with a perfect crème
Disadvantages: Water can be too hot sometimes
...I bought this espresso machine in September 2008 from my local speciality coffee shop; "MacBean's" in Aberdeen, Scotland. After viewing it in the shop it struck me as a thing of beauty as much as coffee machine and I could imagine it taking it pride of place in my kitchen- which it now does.
I paid £250 from this local Gaggia agent, though online it can be found much cheaper- for about £150 or even cheaper on sites such as eBay. I got a good deal as I when I asked for some free coffee to sweeten the purchase I was surprised to find I also was given a set of six espresso cups and saucers for free. I suggest you ask around when purchasing this machine as it seemed like the shop might have got them free from Gaggia as a promotional item.
After struggling home with my heavy purchase and regretting not taking a car I opened the box to...

Philips Senseo Coffee Maker - a coffee lovers heaven
Advantages: Perfect coffee at the press of a button
Disadvantages: Pods can be hard to find at times
...I am a complete coffee addict, I admit it.
I can't function until I have had my caffine fix of the day.
I drink my coffee stong, black and unweetened - because of this I like good coffee and it is one product that I will not economise on.
Over my married life ( 38 years of it) I have had all sorts of coffee machines in my quest for a good cup of coffee, not just one that smells good when you walk in the kitchen but also tastes as good as it smells. I have had caffetieres, traditional expressom makers that you heat on the hob, an all singing and dancing cappuchino and espresso maker and umpteen different filter coffee machines.
But I never did find the Holy Grail of coffee machines - the tatse wasn't quite right, or they were very difficult to clean or I ended up with a jug of stewed, bitter coffee.
That was until six years ago...

Having a Baby
Advantages: Makes excellent espresso, cappuccino and latte coffee
Disadvantages: Needs to be cleaned and maintained regularly
...I've never been particularly keen on drinking coffee at work - the options usually consisting of either a mug of the instant variety made with water boiled in a disgustingly furred-up kettle, or a paper cup of brown-coloured hot liquid dispensed by a temperamental vending machine - so it was with some relief when I began a new job last year to learn that there was an espresso machine at my disposal, with which to make a cup of 'real' coffee whenever I wanted one. I wouldn't term myself a coffee snob by any means, but I'm a firm believer that there's no competition between the genuine article and its powdered or granular equivalent, despite what the Kenco lady in the television commercials would have us believe.
NAMING THE BABY
Our machine, the quaintly-named Baby Dose, is made by the Italian company Gaggia, one of the world...

Senseo Coffee Maker
Advantages: Quick, easy to use, price
Disadvantages: None
...My husband bought me the Senseo coffee maker for a Christmas present 2006, I must say it was one of the best things he has ever bought me.I love my coffee and have used it most days and more than once a day since. It is still going strong!
The Senseo doesn't have all the fancy bits to it that other coffee machines do, but it makes a nice cup of coffee and is very easy to use. The coffee comes out hot, but not boiling (my mum was never impressed with it when she came over as she likes her coffees scolding). I have occasionally had trouble with leaks, but not very often. All in all, I like it. Its a good price and makes nice coffee, itt is also easy to clean, which is another bonus for me.
You can buy the pods easily in supermarkets or online, where you get quite a wide selection. Although, the pods can be quite expensive in...

THE coffee maker
Advantages: high quality, reliable, easy to use, easy to keep it clean
Disadvantages: makes two coffees at a time
...I love good coffee. I don't drink any kind of coffee just to get my daily caffeine dose. A good coffee can be made of good raw material which for me is 100% arabica coffee beans (I prefer freshly ground coffee) and the other important factor is the coffee maker.
I don't like coffee makers that work with filter. Coffee is not a kind of tee, it needs special machine. At Saeco engineers know how a good coffee is. I have this kind of coffee maker at my work place (ours at home is very similar, but other brand for financial reasons). I use it to prepare coffee for my bosses and their guests. I receive so many compliments for my coffee, you can't imagine.
I could make a decision on what coffee maker to buy. I didn't hesitated much as I heard a lot about Saeco's premium coffee makers. So I choose Saeco Vienna. I won't waste your time...

Baby love, my baby love
Advantages: A lot of control over your coffee
Disadvantages: Not room for bigger cups
...Having previously worked in the coffee industry for a few years, there is nothing like the taste of a good espresso when you wake up and although the trend for domestic coffee machines which take coffee pods and work on the touch of a button, there is nothing like having a machine where you can take full control of how your coffee comes out. The Gaggia Baby D is one such machine, with numerous similarities to the way professional machines work, but aimed at the domestic market.
The Look
************
The Gaggia Baby D is quite a strange looking machine, not really because of the styling but at around 40cm tall and 20 cm wide, it looks a bit top heavy, although it is very secure and would take a good whack to knock it over. The machine is constructed out of plastic and chrome and is basically silver in colour. All the panels feel...

COFFEE STAINED WORKTOPS.
Advantages: It was the right colour for my kitchen.
Disadvantages: Spills everywhere.
...?Coffee anyone?, I asked like the real hostess, proud of my new acquisition. It smelt really nice, freshly brewed and I was out to impress. No peasants instant coffee here. This was the real thing made with real coffee grains in my new Bright yellow coffee maker that blended in with my bright yellow and dark blue colour scheme.
I thought it was a pretty cool gadget. It had a makers name that I trusted and I thought that I could not go far wrong with a purchase at £12.00 equivalent. Coffee makers tend to be on the cheap side in France, as they play an essential role in entertaining where instant coffee is not really an option.
I took this little beastie out of its box, glanced at the instructions briefly (which were full and complete although idiots like me think they know what they are doing and tend to throw them away the first...

Gaggia Classic Design Problems
Advantages: Looks good and makes superb coffee.
Disadvantages: Frustrating to use and occasionally verging on the dangerous.
...I'm a difficult person to buy presents for, so when I mentioned to my husband last summer that I liked the idea of an espresso machine it was inevitable that one would appear on my birthday. He went for what seemed to him to be the best of the domestic machines - the Gaggia Classic - as it's a well-built basic machine with none of the frills which rarely get used and have the potential to cause problems. It will also make a cappuccino, but not a filter coffee. The Classic is also one of the most powerful domestic machines - water is forced through the ground coffee with 17.5 bar of pressure. To give you some idea of how powerful this is, my central heating operates at 1.5 bar.
An espresso coffee is so-called because it comes from the Italian for express. It's meant to be brewed and drunk within a matter of seconds - minutes...

Great Coffee Maker
Advantages: Good Coffee, Stylish, Very Easy to Use
Disadvantages: Very little
...We won tickets to the BBC Good Homes exhibition at the NEC in May, we ended up buying a Staffordshire Garden Furniture Pagoda and a Phillips Senseo Coffee Maker.
Unlike the Pagoda we took the coffee maker home!
My wife is the coffee lover - I personally do not like coffee at all.
We got it for the show price with free coffee pods and mugs for £40.
It is blue and stylish and just over 1 foot high.
It uses coffee pods rather than granuals, these if you like are coffee bags.
Usage is very easy, the pods go in a holder under the lid, the reservoir at the back holds enough water for 5 or 6 cups.
Normal usage is wait to boil with the correct pods, put the cups under the spout and press the correct button for the number of pods (one pod button and a two pod button)
To make a mug of coffee my wife uses 1 decaf. pod...
