The baby Grand of Coffee
Review of Gaggia BABY by
bigfatdogs
Advantages: Quaility, Quality, Quaility
Disadvantages: You wont ever use instant again
...sure you clean the nozzle right after you use the machine.
The machine comes with two sizes of coffee pod holder. You can also use either free ground coffee or the pod system which is much cleaner. I am a bit old fashioned and prefer to use the ground coffee.
The Gaggia comes with a 2 year warrantee from Gaggia! This is one to recommend and one that has sheer quality written all over it. So enjoy the ambiance as you suck in the aroma of really great coffee really well made coffee. Make sure you choose your coffee well, as I have said I recommend Illy....

Gagging for a Gaggia
Review of Gaggia Evolution by
cootuk
Advantages: high status, easy operation
Disadvantages: plasticky feel, noisy, needs finely burr ground coffee
...I was lucky enough to win the Evolution expresso maker in the Ebay Xmas Treasure Hunt. Apparently Gaggia were out of stock in europe for a few weeks, so I only received it mid February. If you order one then make sure you order from somewhere that actually has stock!
The machine comes well boxed with simple instructions.
Negatives:
The main unit is made of plastic and feels like it will break as you hold it to twist the coffee holder in to place. The water container also can easily slop water whilst you do this if you shove the machine a little. The water pump isn't exactly quiet either as it primes.
You are also recommended to use coffee ground in a burr mill rather than a bladed grinder (for that authentic expresso crema), though pods are an easier alternative. A burr mill is an extra expense and not exactly cheap.
Positives...

Gaggia Viva
Review of Gaggia Viva by
pieman1970
Advantages: Slim and lightwight can use coffee pods
Disadvantages: Rather filmsy feel
...On initially taking the machine out of the box it felt quite flimsy and plastic compared to other coffee machines I have owned. Three buttons sit on top of the machine respectively, one to switch on, one to pour coffee and one for steam/frothing. The water container sits behind and to the middle of the machine and is quite annoying to get out and fill and causes you to spill the water.
On the plus side it is very compact and modern looking and sits nicely on the kitchen worktop. It comes with three different metal containers for the coffee, with one being suitable for coffee pods which are alot cleaner than the traditional way of filling up with ground coffee yourself.
I suppose the real test is in the coffee making !! The water took no time at all to heat up and provide a quite and clean fill up as with the frother which also did its...

A corner of Milan in your kitchen
Review of Gaggia Classic by
anniej1543
Advantages: Quick, simple, sturdy, stylish
Disadvantages: Can lose important 'bits' if not careful
...So - I lost the whoosit for steaming the milk properly and now I only use the coffee making part, heating the milk up in the microwave. But, in the Gaggia's defence, I have had it for a long, long, time (5 years plus), moved house with it as well, hence the loss of the whoosit, and I still couldn\'t get through the day without the wonderful coffee it makes for me every morning. I could also replace the whoosit direct from Gaggia's site, but I have pathetically not bothered. Despite this, I still use the machine daily.
It needs a good descale every now and then - I just use the same stuff you would use for a kettle, brew it through a few times and then rinse a lot, but I\'m pretty sure it came with some descaling instructions as well. Its also worth using filtered water to keep it happy, but that goes for every machine you can buy...

Baby love, my baby love
Review of Gaggia BABY D by
christianfilmcritic
Advantages: A lot of control over your coffee
Disadvantages: Not room for bigger cups
...Having previously worked in the coffee industry for a few years, there is nothing like the taste of a good espresso when you wake up and although the trend for domestic coffee machines which take coffee pods and work on the touch of a button, there is nothing like having a machine where you can take full control of how your coffee comes out. The Gaggia Baby D is one such machine, with numerous similarities to the way professional machines work, but aimed at the domestic market.
The Look
************
The Gaggia Baby D is quite a strange looking machine, not really because of the styling but at around 40cm tall and 20 cm wide, it looks a bit top heavy, although it is very secure and would take a good whack to knock it over. The machine is constructed out of plastic and chrome and is basically silver in colour. All the panels feel very...

Cafe aroma in the homa
Review of Gaggia Classic Coffee /GC 120 by
oldwasp
Advantages: Italian design, milk frother
Disadvantages: Cleaning coffee grind.
...as on machines this size they are normally smaller but Gaggia always use the full size on their machines. This comes with a single cup filter, this can also be used with E.S.E pods (easy serving espresso) these look like flat round tea bags which are less messy and quicker to use than ground coffee. I only use these if i am in a rush, the coffee tastes good but not as good as the ground. Another filter is supplied for a double espresso. This can be used to make two coffees at once as the coffee comes out of the delivery spout on both sides, my older machine only had one hole so i could only make one cup at a time.
Frother/steamer
******************
The frothing wand turns out from the side you can fit a large jug under this for steaming and frothing milk (stainless steal jugs are best). This can also be used for hot water, so pop a tea bag in a cup...

At last, the perfect shot.
Review of Magimix Nespresso M200 by
Davyboy123
Advantages: Perfect results every time and easy to use and clean.
Disadvantages: None other than the hassle of internet ordering of supplies.
...I previously had the Gaggia Cubika and was very disappointed with its results.
After pondering it for a while, I finally decided this morning to go and buy one. Off I trotted to Comet to "price it up". The chrome model was on sale for £179.99, I had seen another in John Lewis for £159.99, I hadn't noticed that the chromed model was more expensive (it is, after all, only plastic!).
I told the manager that JL were selling it for £159, so he price promised that and gave me it for £158! They couldn't get through to JL on the phone to confirm, and I wasn't prepared to wait around.
Bargain.
So, I got it home, and had to test it out straight away.
A great "out of box" experience. Everything was shiny and perfect, and I loved the "presentation box" of the 2 cups and saucers (1 espresso, 1 'lungo') and sample pods.
After cleaning tank...

Gaggia-ing for a Drink
Review of Gaggia Selecta DE LUXE by
patriciat
Advantages: A wonderful array of hot drinks
Disadvantages: Other than price, none
...After a long day's shopping in Nottingham recently our final port of call was House of Fraser and the wonderful smell of coffee wafting around the shop floor led us to the Gaggia display counter.
The barista immediately asked us if we would like a drink and it seemed a shame not to, so black coffees were produced for hubby and myself and a hot chocolate for the grandson.
The salesman/barista was passionate about his products and told us all about them at length and our eye was caught by one particular model, the Selecta, which was on promotion at half price. For a limited period this machine was on sale for £134.99 instead of the usual, double priced amount.
The beauty of this machine is that as well as being able to take the pods which we still had left from another machine, it also makes tea from bags or loose leaf tea, ground...

Not quite the Gold Blend.
Review of Kenwood ES547 Espresso/Cappuccino Maker by
rickyshah
Advantages: Looks Good, Cheap....
Disadvantages: It is cheap!
...’s almost empty. The ability to refill the tank without removing (a la Gaggia) would have helped, especially since it’s quite dangerous to operate the machine with no water. The Kenwood lacks most of the features found on more expensive machines (Coffee pods, 3-way solenoid) but does feature a cup warmer which actually has a useable amount of space! Warming the cups prior to making coffee results in better, hotter coffee since extracting espresso into a cold cup means it loses flavour and taste sharply. Lastly the machine features what’s known as a 'perfect crema' device. It’s meant to make the crema (the golden bit on your Espresso) thicker and creamier. It doesn't. It’s just another part to clean and by removing it, your coffee is actually nicer.
Not quite the gold blend.....
The machine has several, very important flaws. The first...

I Scream,You Scream,We All Scream For ...
Review of Gaggia Gelatiera by
Newfloridian
Advantages: A never-ending cornucopia of frozen delights: Simplicity itself in operation
Disadvantages: Expensive, it takes up space.
...laborious exercise. Most of the less expensive models these days require to be frozen first in the freezer but have an agitator which does the mixing for you. You also need a big enough freezer to get the whole apparatus into.
GAGGIA
Gaggia is an Italian company best known for manufacturing coffee making and espresso machines since 1938. They have diversified into a wide range of commercial and domestic appliances of which their Ice Cream Maker is one.
Web site: http://www.gaggia.it/uk/home.html
WHAT’S IN THE BOX
The carton was well packed for transit and delivery. The machine is a solid white enamelled brick of an item with ventilator grills on both sides. It’s dimensions are 15” [D] by 11½” [W] by 7½” [H] (38cm x 29cm x 19cm). It is HEAVY and houses the compressor. It also requires a mains socket so the machine is best positioned where...
