Blissful Gaming with a Gainward Bliss
Advantages: high performance at low price
Disadvantages: Instructions not clear
...Not being too sure on the quality of Gainward I was hesitant in buying this card but was swayed by the price and performance ratings.
This time I won't go into the basics and history and go straight in to the review of the card.
~ The Package ~
Mine came in the exact box next to the title, it's a large box and the card is then encased within another box so I would say is well protected.
In the box came the card and all the cables you need for standard monitor or digital and power.
~ The Card ~
At first sight I was quite impressed, it has a red PCB and black heat sink and fan with a large mesh type casing around it. Normally I would rip off the stock heatsink and fan and replace it with a high performance one, no need to here as it cools the card very well.
I noticed straight away that it has dual DVI but it...

The affordable card for next gen graphics.
Advantages: Runs all games out at the moment at very high speeds
Disadvantages: May show to be weak when newer games come out in a years time
...The 8600gt is the perfect card to introduce your computer to the dx10 experience. The card may not obviously be as fast as the 8800 yet It has the capabilities to run all the new games at formidable speeds. I can run call of duty 4 and gears of war on full settings and crysis on high and it only ended up costing arounds £90 unlike the 8800 which can shoot up to prices as high as £300. The card has 1gb video memory suitable for any game which is perfect for storing large amounts of textures. The card installs easily taking less than 5 minutes to insert and gives tremendous power towards any game Yet if you've ever heard this card is bad it is definatly a blatent lie. It's capabilities are expansive and every game will run under its command. A great buy for anyone who wants an affordable jump into the next gen graphics style....

VERY Fast, But Better Buys...
Advantages: Fast, Good Overclocker
Disadvantages: Competitors like the 7900GT/7900GTO virtually the same price
...The Gainward 7950GT "Golden Sample" is one of the fastest 7xxx series graphics cards on the market, and Gainwards card doesn't dissapoint!
It runs on a PCI-e connector, however as it draws more power than the slot can provide it needs an extra power connector on the side. This is NOT compatible with an AGP board, and does need a beefy power supply (i recommend 400+ watts).
The card has a dual slot cooler - that is to say that it takes up the width of one slot, and then the fan on the card takes up the space of another slot. The fan is quiet and looks sleek, however the card has a black piece of metal on top to make it look sleek and i've found that while this has no affect on temperatures, it's not helping the airflow and does nothing but take up unnecessary room in my case, however it was easy to remove with a screwdriver...

Very Impressive
Advantages: Runs very smooth, easy to set up, will play anything, easy to change settings
Disadvantages: None really
...I've always been a fan of ATi graphics cards to be honest, I had an ATi X850 Pro AGP card in my old computer, however this was not compatible when I got my new system as it needed PCI-E graphics card. After exploring the internet for comparisons of graphics card, on quite a tight budget, I plumped for the 7900GS from Gainward and boy am I impressed.
It will play, at very decent frame rates, anything I throw at it! Half-Life 2, Elder Scrolls: Oblivion and the Sims 2 all ran rather choppily on my old X850 card, but this is very quick and has very high performance.
The installation was very easy, just open up your PC, slot it in, connect the power and away you go! The software provided by Gainward overrides the NVidia provided forceware, and to be honest, it's easier to use and does allow you to fiddle around with the clock...

Silent card with awesome performance
Advantages: Silent, Excellent performance, Great Ram
Disadvantages: none
...This is one great card, a bargain at the price, and you just cant go past a GT with a passive heatsink and GDDR3 Ram.
I bought this 256Mb Card, after previously owning the budget 7600GS, thinking it would be a small improvement, well let me set the record straight by saying that for the small price difference (approx 30%) over the budget card, you get a bunch more bang for your buck.
First and foremost the Ram on the card is DDR3, giving better timings, faster speeds, and lower temperatures. Which is ideal because this card is passively cooled by an oversized heatsink (the heatsink is the size of the whole card) and the card takes up two slots for heat ventilation so make sure you have a spare PCI slot next to your PCI-Express slot.
Performance wise the card is very impressive, the core is clocked at GT Speeds, and even allows...

Mid-Range BLISS
Advantages: Good price Excellent mid-range card Overclocks well
Disadvantages: Bad manual
...Nvidia have really hit the sweet spot with this one! Seeing the gap in the market for a sub-£200 £150-plus card, they released the 6800GS based on the NV42 core at around £160, with 1.8nano second memory, and 256mb of it. This card was fast as it was, but Gainward took it a step surther, doubling the memory size and making the speed of it 1.2ns. This is hard to explain but in summary it mean that the memory can be overcloked further than the BLISS' already overclocked 1300MHz. The package is great, including PowerDVD and a VIVO cable with S-Video, RGB and Composite connectors. All this at a sub £170 price! The only gripe I had was the manual, which was lazy and generic, describing a different version of cards.
All in All though, for a mid-range card, it's the best on the market....

Will give your AGP system a new lease of life
Advantages: Very fast, AGP
Disadvantages: Very expensive, power-hungry
...) so far. Two Molex connectors are required so it might be worth being cautious if you have a small-ish PSU and a lot of Hard drives, etc in your PC.
The only other negative is the price: at launch it was a ridiculous £300+ though can now be had for about £230 from Scan.co.uk. (Edit Jan 2007: now under £200 from various e-tailers). Unfortunately X1950Pros are being touted at £130-£180 (Zomp, Ebuyer, Overclockers) so anyone looking for a last-gasp AGP Xmas pressie for their ageing PC might want to wait and see what sort of benchmarks the ATI can produce. At any rate, it should bring the Gainward Bliss down in price to a more realistic level!
Stable overclock at 569Mhz Gpu 1.48Ghz Mem. Running Source titles (Half-Life 2, Day of Defeat) @ steady 60fps on Dell 20" Wide TFT (60Hz max refresh) @ 1680x1050 (no AA/AF/HDR). AthlonXP 3200+, 1GB...

ahhh.....Bliss!
Advantages: Affordable , celebs ,
Disadvantages: Too much fashion

AGP may not be dead afterall
Advantages: Everything
Disadvantages: Nonething
...I, like many others still have an AGP system, and just don't have the funds to spend on a new motherboard, processor and memory to upgrade to a PCI express system. So thankfully NVIDIA and Gainward to the rescue.
I will start with a few basics listed below;
Product Name: BA7800GS-512-GS plus-TV-DVI
GPU: GeForce 7800GS
GPU Clockspeed: 450 MHz
Memory: 512MB 1,4ns DDR3
Memory Clockspeed: 1250 MHz
Pixels per clock (peak) :
Bandwidth: GB/s
Ramdac: MHz
Bus: AGP-8X
Cooling: Fan (Two-slot)
Video-Features: Component, S-Video & Composite Out
Connectivity: Dvi + Vga + Video-Out
Firstly this is the new god of AGP cards, this is as powerful as they get with AGP. The card is huge, apart from using your AGP slot, it will cover your first PCI slot, this is because of the huge, but silent, fan on this card. You...
