Not quite a Fair or Fete, more of a Gala for Lush

Disadvantages: Most of which were already available

...Gala isn't an original album as such its actually a compilation of several EP's Lush had already released which were the Sweetness & Light EP, the Mad Love EP and the Scar EP. It featured 1 totally new track, an ABBA cover and a track that had previously been available on an NME cover cd. As it predates all their other "official" albums by 2 years you can think of it as their "first" album. Lush were around during the 1990s as part of the shoegazer movement & at the time of this "album" consisted of Emma Anderson & Miki Bereyni who both sang, played guitar and also wrote words and music. Standing behind and to the side of them were Steve Rippon who played bass (I guess Phil King hadn't replaced him yet?) and Chris Acland who played drums, his tragic death led to the eventual break up of the band. Review of Gala - Lush

Is it a Hotel? yes! Is it the Can pastilla? No!

Advantages: Quiet
Disadvantages: Intermittent hot water, ants! Quiet! very small rooms.

...bits of paper stuck in the window which told me that we needed to book in the Gala Hotel instead. We picked up our cases again and off we went, following the directions on the bit of paper. We sort of thought that we would book in at the Gala and then have to bring our cases back to the Can Pastilla, which was beginning to bug us because we were getting a little fed up of lugging them around. Hotel Gala, Can Pastilla, Majorca. On first sight the hotel is not terribly large and rather dingy looking. We mounted the steps at the front and went to book in. A woman booked us in, very curtly told us that our room was there, asked if we wanted sun on our balcony or a view over the garden and gave us a swipe card to get in our room. She held onto our passports and nodded us on our way pointing out that the lift was round the corner...

When you think of bingo, Try Gala Bingo - it's great!!

Advantages: Lots of choice of games, free games every Thursday
Disadvantages: With all Gambling, Gamble responsibly

...I have been a member of Gala bingo website for about 6 months now. I was introduced by my mum. The sign up offer was fantastic - I deposited £10 and once I had played with that I got another £10, and so did my mum. As I had never played online bingo before I tagged my mum around the site. She advised me to play from 8pm - 10pm in Island as most of the games were for 2p and 5p tickets and were BOGOF - so I bought a strip per game. Lo and behold on my second night at Gala I won full house and had the fantastic sum of £120. I was able to withdraw £100 of this, and I carried on playing with the remaining £20. Over the following 2 months I won over £300 in total. I would say I had deposited maybe £50 to win this? ...Bingo was always known as a pensioner's day out, not any more!! I normally go to bingo once a week and was very surprised by the amount of young people that go. Gala, Boreham Wood. The Gala in Boreham Wood was re-furbished and re-opened in January 2006. It is just off the high street, with parking for around about 150 cars. Parking is free from 6.30pm, in a well lit car park. It is easy to get to by public transport from the surrounding areas, and a main link train station. As you walk in there is a reception deck for new members to apply, which is free and can be done on the day that you wish to play, however you must be 18, as it is classed as gambling. This is also where you buy your bingo books for the night. Then you come to the arcade, there are many fruit machines, with prices ranging from 10p-30p a go...

...Last Saturday evening my husband suggested that we go out for a meal, and we decided to book at the restaurant in the Gala Casino (formerly Ladbrookes) in Nottingham. To book you have to be a member of the casino which we are. To become a member you have to take along one form of ID, which can be a passport, drivres licence, etc. to reception, at least 24 hours before you wish to visit the casino. A good start to the evening was that we found the Casino car park, located just round the corner from the entrance to Mount Street car park. We then took the lift down to reception,where we had to pay only 1 pound for a token which would let us out of the car park later. We were given menus to look at in the Bar, and ordered here too. The range of food is good, with the usual steak or more exotic options. None of which I can remember...

...Here are two really, really good cake recipes... First is my Ma's Fresh Apple Cake... FRESH APPLE CAKE Ingredients: 2 cups chopped apple (leave the skin on!) 1 cup sugar 1 egg beaten 1/2 cup vegetable oil 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 1/2 cups of flour 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg 1 teaspoon baking soda Blend the sugar with the apples and let stand for a half hour. You can use any apples, I prefer Royal Gala. Preheat your oven to 180 - 200. Add beaten egg, oil and vanilla to the apple/sugar mixture. Then add all dry ingredients and stir well. Pour in to a greased pan and put in preheated oven. Bake for 35 - 40 minutes. This cake can be eaten any time, even for breakfast! The next recipe is from my mother in law. She is German and is always making lovely cakes. I pinched...

Advantages: Great site, easy to navigate, lots of games.

However, if you are already a member of a Gala club then you need to just enter your card number and your date of birth and then your details will be found and loaded up so that you don't have to re-enter all of your information. There is a very wide variety of games on the website: bingo, slots, lotto, roulette, casino games etc and there really should be some variety for everybody and something to keep everybody...

My advice on Bingo

Advantages: Somewhere to go without the kids
Disadvantages: Is expensive and people can get addicted to playing

...I have been to Gala Bingo and am a member for about a year and to join Gala Bingo membership is free and when i started going i thought that me and my older sister where the only young ones going but there are a lot of people that go, young or old even men go to bingo more than i expected that go. On a night at Gala you are looking at paying from £12 to £15 which is a bit expensive. If you don't know how to play bingo ( for those people that are reading this and don't know how) all you have to do is use a bingo pen ( dabber, biro or colouring pen) and mark off all the numbers that the bingo caller calls out and if you have a line, or the 2 lines or the full house in the numbers called then you shout bingo and you have won the prize money that is on offer. Occasionly at Gala they have fiver fever where your tickets only cost £5...
