The Wii - A games console for the whole family

Advantages: Great for all ages, easy to use, interactive
Disadvantages: None really

...I haven't owned a game console for a long time. As a child I had the Sega Master System and then later on a Gameboy but never progressed from there. Coming from a predominantly female house meant most the money we had went on clothes rather than computer games. Anyway I have recently played the Wii a few times round friends and relatives houses and thought they were really fun. Therefore when I found myself with some Amazon vouchers I decided that I would purchase. We ordered the Wii from Amazon as was on there for 176 pounds which was definitely the most reasonable price we came across. Many others were selling for over 250 pounds. With the Amazon vouchers and low price it seemed silly to purchase from anywhere else. We ordered this and used the free trial of Amazon prime to get next day delivery. Fun interactive console

Advantages: fun, interactive, different, good game selection
Disadvantages: can get really expensive, controllers tend to have bad battery life

...The Nintendo Wii is a really different console system which allows you to plays games in a whole different way. Unlike the traditional game console system where you just used a controller to maneouvre your character around the screen the Wii means you can effectively control the little people. Wii - a great console

Advantages: completely interactive, easy to use, lots of fun
Disadvantages: limited multiplayer games

...I was given the nintendo wii as a birthday gift from my boyfriend in August. I have wanted one for absolutely ages and was not disappointed. The first thing i did was go out and get extra nun-chucks, an extra controller and 3 more games! This is a great interactive console that is great for all the family as well as wii parties with friends (whilst you can pass your one wii remote around between you, it's probably better if you invest in a few more remote controllers). My mum and my 8 year old brother equally enjoyed playing wii sports and rayman's raving rabbits (an excellent game by the way) The wii works best (obviously) with a spacious room and a good sized tv - then you can really get into the swing of things without the fear of bashing your fellow player. Wii king of consoles

Advantages: Cheapest console and best

Unique Console Experience

Advantages: Small, innovative, unique, fun
Disadvantages: average graphics, can be difficult to control

...The console itself is brilliant, very stylish, and absolutely tiny! If you put 3 DVD boxes together, that's the size of the Wii, and unlike the XBox 360 it is also very quiet and very reasonable with loading times. The actual finish on the console is great, it's glossy but doesn't show up fingerprints extensively (ala PSP) and everything about it feels expensive and new, which is always a plus. It is really easy to set up, the only thing you'll need to think about is the sensor bar, a small black rod that needs to be placed on or below your TV, theoretically anyway, I've found you only need to place it where you want to actually want to point, but of course that makes the TV the ideal spot. You also get the stand with the console, and if you're going to place it vertically it's a good idea to use it, it comes with an extra small disc...

Best Next Gen console

Advantages: Entertaining for all ages
Disadvantages: You have to be carefull not to hurt yourself or someone else

...Wii is the Nintendo's latest console and innovation of what we consider gaming people considered gaming up to now sitting on their couch and holding a controller not with Wii. The difference between Wii and every other console is that it works with motion sensors rather than buttons(it has buttons but the gaming is done mostly with moves) for example the most common Wii Bundle is Wii Sports which contains Tennis, Baseball, Bowling, Boxing and Golf for all those instead of holding the controller and pressing buttons you have to do the move a really nice feature for people who get bored sitting on the couch all the time. Personally I also own a PS3 but find Wii far more enjoyable and entertaining although it doesn't match PS3 or XBOX 360 graphics the games are much more entertaining and fun. This generations funnest family console

Advantages: Cheap, energetic, child friendly, and fun
Disadvantages: Still hard to find in stock, no built in HD movie player

...I bought a Wii at launch for serious games such as Zelda and Red Steel. At Christmas I took it to the family Chrstmas party. Wii Sports and Wii Play were barely out of the machine, and Christmas movies were ignored. Now my family has a total of FOUR Wii - some owned by people who haven't owned consoles since the 16-bit days of the MegaDrive/Genesis and I will try to expain why. I had the console for a good 2 months before I got to play against my family, and had played Wii Tenis quite a bit. My Grandad & Uncle both used to belong to a tenis club and after the first game where they were getting used to the fact that they were actually swinging a controller they were an unbeatable team. Another great console from Sony

Advantages: Really good graphics, Blue Ray player built in, wireless internet for free
Disadvantages: High price, loud fan when playing games

...Sony's next generation console was well worth the wait from the Playstation 2. I have owned a PS3 for just over a year now and I have so far had no problems with it and to see the quality of the graphics of any game was incredible, and it was such a step up from the PS2. Although Sony was late in releasing the PS3, it was worth the wait in the end, although I did consider getting an Xbox 360 instead. The Xbox 360 came out much earlier and allowed microsoft the oppurtunity to get more Xbox 360's out there before the PS3 was even out. However there have been many reported problems with the Xbox 360, such as the console freezing, so I thought I best play it safe and instead get the PS3 when I had some money. The PS3 also offers more benefits over the Xbox 360, like free online play and less reported faults with the console in general...
