The Oklahoma-based Funk, Soul and R&B group The Gap Band (originally going by The Greenwood, Archer & Pinewood Street Band) formed back in the late sixties as brothers Charlie, Ronnie and Robert Wilson got down with their freaky dance tracks and ballads from then until the late eighties (although the seventies and eighties were when their peak came. ...Up until recently l had not really bothered about Gap - l simply used the store in Belfast as a short cut into the CastleCourt shopping centre. One-day l decided ld stop and take a look.
The Belfast Store is extremely busy and crams a lot into a small space - women’s wear, men’s wear and junior sizes. A separate store exists for babies and toddlers. (I must emphasis that this is only the case in the Belfast Store - other stores have everything under one roof)
Clothes may seem expensive but l do not mind paying that little bit extra when it comes to quality. I find Gap clothes to have that edge over others. They wash well, keep their shape and endure well!
The style (for women anyway!) is mostly casual - with their hooded sweatshirts, jeans, tee shirts and baseball caps. I bought a pair of Gap jeans on Friday...

...Gap is probably my favourite clothes shop. You always know, if you decide to wander into one of the many nearby Gap shops, that there will be cheap, good quality, nice looking assistants...woops, make that clothes, for you to buy. Seriously, I don't think I have ever paid full price for anything at Gap - why would I? Half the shop is a sale rail. I'm not complaining though.
The Clothes
Gap sells pretty much everything. Tops, Jackets, trousers, jeans, male and female, little accessories, the legendary khakis.....pretty much everything but shoes. I tend to either buy t-shirts or trousers from Gap, and they are always good quality and wash well. The only thing I have noticed about Gap tops is that they seem to be short and wide - though I believe this is because Americans are short and fat. I dunno.

...Gap for kids is an excellent if a little bit pricey shop. My local gap store is about 25 miles away so its not a store that I frequent on a regular basis. In away this is a very good thing as I never get bored with the range of clothing inbetween my infrequent visits they've always changed the stock.
Gap for kids and Babygap have cornered the market in high quality clothing at affordable prices, even more affordable if you head straight to the old bargain rail. The clothing for babies and toddlers is a little bit traditional with a modern day twist to it. For old children it tends to be a bit more outdoor like in style - you'll not find any frilly dresses here! The coats are second to none, warm, well made and easily cleaned.
If you're after clothing for kids that is casual but a little bit dressy then Gap is the place to head...

...I am currently planning a round the world trip for the end of this year and one website has been invaluable in helping me plan the trip. The website in question is gapyear.com. Aimed not only at those planning gap years for before or after university but also career gappers and anyone who is considering going backpacking. Established in 1998 by two backpackers the site has grown to include tens of thousands of members from all over the world and last year was used by over 600,000 people.
As you load the home page at www.gapyear.com you are greeted with quite a busy page with lots of information on it set against a blue and white background. From here you can access through links practically every area of the site. Set across the top are 9 tabs, one for each area of the site:

Gap has a childrens department, which means you have to content with crying kids, and mums with prams (am I the only one who noticed that some people think that having a pram gives them a god given right to push you out of the way: hard) Anyway, I digress. Now I work full time (I hate having a summer job) the only chance i got to go shopping was on a Saturday, until I discovered shopping online: enter Gap Online.
On first entering the site I was really impressed. It seemed really fresh and uncluttered, just like the high street store. Crisp white background with the immediately identifiable gap logo. It was well laid out, and the pictures were really clear. Straight away I saw a skirt that I liked, so i clicked the link only to find that it was priced in dollars; all the clothes on Gap.com are...

...I am always attracted to the gap shops, I just can’t help myself, whether it be I’m shopping for myself or my cousin. I always end up buying something from the store. I like buying jeans from their as I like the way they are cut, and they usually last a long time. The store usually is split into two sections, whereby they have an adult department and children’s one.
I always think they have a more men’s range than a woman’s, or that maybe me, because I feel there is not enough to chose from. Gap clothes are not cheap by any means, but I think they are well worth the price as you can tell the are quality.
I recently purchased a red gap hooded top, and embroided jeans for my little cousin, and you can tell they are quality, and because they knew it was a gift, they even wrapped it up for me which was...

...I think Gap shops are brilliant for quality and if you save up it will be well worth the extra money you may have had to pay. I went to the Trafford Centre and they had a really good Gap store and although, the items are quite expensive, they looked very good on display, tempting enough to go in and have a look.
I bought a blue hooded Gap top which was for £40, it was nicely fitted and was nice and warm. The range was so impressive, even though I wanted to buy more items I had to stop myself as money was running out. I bought my younger cousin Gap cap, which was really nice, and although he wasn’t there I think he will like it.
The after sales service was really good and I was informed that as long as I kept my receipt the good could be returned.
There was a lot for me to chose from so that was good. How can you not...

...As there are already 30+ GAP reviews I wont go into too much detail about what GAP is but hopefully I will provide you with some helpful tips for a successful shopping trip.
1. Size
GAP women's clothes are sized in American sizing which can be very confusing as MOST items don't actually tell you they're not UK sizes.
American sizes are two sizes smaller than UK sizes so if you are usually a UK 12 in US sizes you will be an 8.
(this is great for moral when you realise for the first time in years that the size on the label is in single figures!)

Small, medium and large sizes tend to be as usual.
Often is a sale you will find sizes 0 and 1 - these sizes usually aren't available in the UK - they are smaller than a UK size 6...

Temping Work - In Australia
Working abroad is definitely a challenge, well to me it has been. I decided to take a gap year and come over here to work for a year. I had just entered a new country, got an apartment so the next obvious step was to look for work. I went to recruitment agencies (see review for more detail) to help me find work in such a big city.
First place I arrived was Sydney the most popular and well known city in Australia. I had already applied for a working holiday visa at home which meant I was entitled to work in the country legally. You need to have a visa which entitles you to work. Next step was to get a tax file number, without this you will not be given a job as you need it for tax purposes. This can be done online.
Now all the paperwork has been done you I needed to open a bank...
