...I work part time at an independent garage (I am a student), and from first hand experience, I have seen just how much better quality the work done is than that of main dealers, and cut price places like Kwik fit and Hi-Q. We have had many cars in which need repairs, having had parts fitted badly by other garages. The level of training at independent garages is much higher than at the big chains, and the level of staff turnover is much lower. I know of a local chain garage who have a staff turnover rate of about one every 3 weeks. Staff at independent garages seem to care much more about their customers as well. ...The Garage in Sauchiehall Street is a great night out. It is situated at the charing cross end of glasgow. The best night at the garage is a Thursday, where entrance is about £3-£4. This can end up being one of the best, and cheapest nights out you can have. A vodka mixer is only 50p on thursday. The music suits everyones tastes, it varies from 70's music to the current chart songs. There is also a part of the club suited to everyone. There are quieter rooms for those who want a break from the big dance floor. There are also plenty of bars that make it a great night out.... Read review

...Fisher price garage. It was his fathers before him. When I visited my daughter the other day I discovered Adrian had received a present from his other grandparents. Cleaning out the loft they had found Martin (my son in law's toy garage) Adrian at 15 months is only just old enough to play with it. I would really recommend it for a child of 18 months upwards to about 7. 1 yr old is the manufacturers recommended age but I feel maybe that is just a little young Adrian at 15 months just enjoys rolling the cars /wheeled toys down the slope. The garage is obviously made well lasts as this one has a generation or so. I have experience with this garage in my childcare and it does take a lot of bashing and use without damage. I think looking at the pictures of the modern toy garage it has changed a little, not much just a little... Read review

Advantages: Good mixing, good underground songs
Disadvantages: Over Commercialized

...I bought Pure Garage from a specialist music shop before it was TV advertised because it was mixed by DJ EZ, who is - let's face it - a great DJ. I didn't realise that this was going to be a over-commercialized CD, but dispite being available everywhere, it is a good compilation and yes, I admit that the mixing is good. But Thank you so much for not putting REWIND by Artful Dodger on it because that ressembles part of the over playing on stations like capital FM that is starting to kill the real garage sound. EZ's own song on the second CD is especially good and a good example of the garage genre (also you don't hear it 100 times a day on the radio!).... Read review

...As I own one of the previous (And long since deleted) ‘Garage’ albums I was curious to see what changes Metallica would make for the new Garage album. The big change is the move to a double disc, one featuring entirely new material and one featuring stuff off various other garage albums and a Motorhead tribute section. So what’s the first disc like? Pretty poor in my opinion, with the exception of their cover of Bob Seger’s Turn the Page, it’s all pretty boring with nothing worth while added to the songs. The second disc is another matter, Helpless, The Small Hours, The Wait and Am I Evil are fantastic songs, as is So What. Though the latter is recommended for those of a sensitive disposition. But I still wasn’t that happy as all the good stuff is on the earlier garage albums. If you don’t own any of the other Garage albums then you... Read review

Advantages: low price labour
Disadvantages: not always a hire car

...Great family run garage. Originally owned by the father this is the second garage purchased by the parnell family. It has an adjoining campsite for touring caravans and tents. The garage has a newly refurbished workshop with experienced mechanics, they also have some young apprentices whom they keep their watchful eye on. The mechanics are friendly and very helpful even if you are female they will not try to fob you off. The garage is in the centre of the farming community so is used to dealing with agricultural vechicles as well. Their servicing is very reasonable and sometimes a hire car is available their labour charges asre much cheaper than main dealers. However you do have to wait a while as the garage gets very busy especially in summer time. The shop is well stocked both for locals and tourists however the prices... Read review

...I bought this album thinkin yeah it should be good Ministry of Sound albums are normally pretty decent!! I was expecting to listen to loadsa house music but I was pleasently suprised when I found some garage music on the album. I am really into garage and house music and normally you wouldnt find the two united on one album but this album doest that!! The best thing is the songs are well mixed and you cant feel or really notice the change from house to garage. I was really pleased when I bought this album for me it was The Album of the Summer!! If you are into dance music you will love this album!! What is also good is that the music is not all commerciallised and is just overall a wicked album one to complete the soundtracks to Summer 2000!!... Read review

...I have given up using the big garages, especially the main dealers for my car servicing and repair needs. I have generally found them to be very expensive, unreliable, discourteous, and sometimes downright dishonest. They generally allocate a set time to their mechanics to do a specific job, and as a result it gets rushed, and frequently botched! I prefer a small garage or repair shop, preferably a family business, and one which has been recommended to me by a family member or friend. Here I find the service is honest, reliable, and trustworthy. Prices tend to be much lower, and you and the car are treated as something special...not just another number plate on four wheels. Sure, there are some good large garages, and some small cowboy operations. However, a search for a good little un will probably pay handsome dividends!... Read review

...If you live in or around Walsall in the West Midlands then Midland Garage, Stafford Street Walsall has to be the place for car repairs. Until recently we owned a D reg Nissan Bluebird Turbo and so needed work doing from time to time. We were refered to this garage by the people who did our MOT and we were so impressed we never went anywhere else! They are always honest and fair in all their dealings - and you can't say that about too many small garages. They'll give you a quote and let you know before they start the work if it's going to be higher. In fact on occasions we collected our car to find that the bill was actually lower than expected. If they think that the repair you've requested isn't viable they'll tell you so and suggest alternatives. Our new car is still under warranty at the moment but we'll eventually return to Midland...
