...Ok, so the end of November might seem a strange time to buy a garden hose reel set, but mine tends to get more use washing a muddy dog & dirty cars, especially at this time of year. The previous hose reel I had, has recently given up after a number of years of sterling service. The handle had fallen off the winder, and there were a number of punctures in the hose pipe, so it was time to find a replacement, I cannot remember what make this one was, but it was cheap, and must have lasted at least 6 years, so I cannot complain. Amazing flat hose.

Advantages: Compact flat hose, can use when on reel.
Disadvantages: No good when there is a hose pipe ban.

...I normally tend to write reviews on items I like, and recommend, but in this case I can't actually recommend these at all. The reason being, they do not last, being of steel construction, they rust very quicklly. The paint finish is poor, and the steel is not thick enough. They do tend to bend at the least provocation, and although the basic idea is sound, the materials are not good enough. The design was copied from Firefighting Hosereels, where the hose could be ran out very quickly, the reel swinging out toward the fire, and making it up again was a doddle.. I would like to see a better quality version of these, that really would be something. All fittings are made from corrosion resistant brass, and the reel is supposed to hold some eighty feet of hose! ...but read cons, If you don't need the flow, then you can join two together, or even more. Easy to stow, no need for a drum. Cons Small diameter (3/8") and all those curls means more friction, so less output. You can't just lay it out & let it water your garden without pegging it down. Just to explain that bit, if you have a normal hose and want to feed a sprinkler forty feet away from the tap, you run the hose to it, turn the tap on, & have a cuppa. With this system, you need to stop the hose from flying back towards the tap, not a great problem but something to be aware of. If your flow is not great then the output will be reduced. Although the length is 50 feet you can only use it practically, up to about 45' - anything more and you are struggling against the "spring" effect. ...This review is on the hose mender by Rehau. You may think you don't need one of these, you may well be right of course. I thought so too, and having messed about in my garage for hours, using bits of copper pipe & Jubilee clips, I finally decided to get the proper kit. The Hose Mender itself is nothing special, it is simply a means of attaching one end of a hose pipe to another, in a short length. It does this very well, and although I have forgotten the price, it can't have been much more than a couple of Pounds. It was easy to do the job. and I have no regrets either, it is just a plastic fitting, nothing more, nothing less, and it is there to do a job, and it does that job very well indeed. Advantages: It passes water as it should
Disadvantages: None

...does tend to pick up dirt. Also it is very easy to change fittings on it, some have ribs that interfere with plastic fittings, which means in some cases you have to "shave" them off with a Stanley knife. These hoses are available at the big DIY superstores, and do last far longer than a "cheaper" alternative. Tips:- Always drain & stow away for the winter, coil onto a reel or hooks to keep it neat, and after use always turn the water supply off & release pressure in the hose. And go for the Hozeloc fittings, they are so easy, once you use them, you will never look back. Right, 250 words (without this but) I think that is enough to be called a real review, none of those quicky jobs thank you....

...I decided to buy the in the night garden ninky nonk train set from Amazon as my young daughter is a big fan of in the night garden and whenever it comes on TV she gets really excited. So as my daughter already had some of the other characters from the show I wanted her to have the whole set and since buying it the train set the ninky nonk train set has become one of her favourite toys to play with on a daily basis. The train set can come apart and be attached on many different ways and my daughter enjoys looking at the nice bright colours and putting some of the other in the night garden characters onto the train set even though it keeps falling of now and again it keeps her busy and sometimes I hear her in fits of giggles. The train set is very cute and versatile and its great as children such as mine can have hours of fun with it...
