Garmin Nuvi 200w Sat Nav System

Advantages: Easy to use, does what it's suppsed to do!
Disadvantages: Satellite pairing takes ages, no mains charger!

After extensive researching, price comparison and review reading, I came across the Garmin Nuvi 200w, and a sat nav system that seemed to impress greatly, so i decided to take the plunge and bought one. Much like many of the reviews I had read on the Nuvi 200w, my first impressions of it were very good. I bought the system off the Littlewoods website, as it had been reduced in a seasonal sale that they were having. This meant that the system was on offer for around £30 less than on any other reputable site that I could find it on. The product was well packaged, securely and compactly fitted to an inner cardboard shelf, that meant that the sat nav was unable to move or rattle within the box, therefor limiting the chance of damage during postal delivery to a minimum. Get Safely from A to B with Garmin nuvi 1340

Advantages: Not as annoying as I thought
Disadvantages: Pricey

...Why I Bought It I finally gave in a traded my AA route finder notes (which always got me from A to B) for a Garmin nuvi 1340. I have to admit that these things annoy me so much, shouting directions at you every 5 seconds, but I thought I ought to at least try to get with the 21st century, plus everyone I know as one, so they can?t be that bad can they? I managed to pick mine up for £139 from Pixmania, which was a bargain, as I?d seen one in my local Halford store whilst shopping for oil again! (but that?s another story) for £179! Get There With A Garmin 760

Advantages: good battery life and good instruction manual
Disadvantages: sometimes slow software and have to pay for camera feature after 30 days

...I bought a Garmin 760 GPS receiver for my car I had not had a satellite navigation system before this but had been borrowing my brother in laws for when I went on business trips. These are a brilliant devise you just put the postcode, town and other information in as to where you want to go and it will voice guide you there and also show you your route on the screen. It also shows other useful information such as time, how long it is going to take to get there, what time you will arrive and how many miles it is to your destination. So you will never be late for a meeting again and can plan routes with this amazing device. The Garmin 760 that I have came from Halfords and cost £250 the sales people in Halfords got it out of the display cabinet and showed me how to use it and all of the features it has, they also offered to install it...

...Edit: My review here is based on the Nuvi-250 (non-widescreen version). I bought one of these recently as my old ipaq-based TomTom is getting more outdated each day and there doesn't seem to be a reasonably-priced way to update it. I have to say I was expecting better. The manual is small because there aren't as many features as you get with TomTom. For example TomTom allows you to set the distance between your POI and it's alert sounding. This Garmin seems to sound the alert at it's own preset distance warning which you can't change from the menu system. It also seems to take a while to find the satellites. We went to our local park on saturday which is about a mile from home and we were practically on the car-park before it locked on. The worst part though was how innacurate the maps seem to be. It does not have the ability to "tell" you where to go by voice but it does show you what turnings to take on a small map. At first glance the Edge 705 looks really stylish and impressive. ...The Garmin Fore runner 305 has been a life saver for me.. if you are a runner and want to track your progress, train against a vitual partner or simple see how far or fast you are running. then i would advise you get this watch. it is light weight are to be honest when you are running you do not really realise that it is there. i use it on every run i do. even if its just a slow recovery run then i will use the heart rate monitor , pace and distance to make sure it is slow and i am not working harder than I should be. i would say that this is well worth the money and perfect for any runner needing a new watch for sporting purposes....

...used my garmin nuvi now for 1 year and a half, being an hgv driver was not sure with sat nav and this was my second unit and heard lots of bad storys of drivers getting stuck! but this machine is bang on with getting you to your destionation, either that be in a city or out in the country side, most of the time i checked between maps and the sat nav unit and 99% it was always taken you a safe route. screen is good and clear.. voice is nice and loud with the 12v power source, but is really quiet when the machine is using its own battery. used mine in europe with no problems but had to buy new map to cover this, was not a problem, just got new disc off garmins web site and installed it into machine. nuvi came with a free trail of speed cam's, and work very well and pick nearly all i went past up, but when trail was over was...

Garmin Zumo 550

Advantages: Good looking,top of the range,it's designed for bikers, loads of extras
Disadvantages: Sometimes bit slow,it is waterproof but not when used for long time in rain

...I had my Garmin Zumo 550 for nearly two years. I bought it because it was top of the range motorcycle sat nav. What i liked about it: whole Europe covered, shock and waterproof, quick and easy to use(don't have to take gloves off), loads of extras( fuel gauge,avg speed,compass, useful information like garages, petrol stations, hotels etc,mp3 player, Bluetooth, not bad memory capacity,speed cameras alerts. What i disliked about it : after 1 hour motorway ride in rain it stopped working,but surprisingly it was mounting bracket not sat nav itself which got wet.Sometimes bit slow I used to miss turn awaiting for navigation to recalculate route.Little bit tricky to supply power from motorbike - no instructions for DIY. After all i think it's good navigator but a little bit pricey....
