Garmin Nuvi 300 - consider a TomTom first
Review of Garmin NÜVI 300 by
Mainflava
Advantages: Sleak, compact and aesthetically pleasing
Disadvantages: Innacurate on some roads, commands sometimes confusing
...Purchasing the Garmin Nuvi.....
I bought this unit for my girlfriend as a present sometime back in the hope that it would help her find the exit out of that proverbial paper bag. At the time of purchase, I had narrowed my choice down to two satellite navigation systems that both fell well within my price range; the Tomtom One and the Garmin Nuvi 300, both of which contained GB maps only. Based on my previous experience in using handheld GPS units for hiking and general map work and the fact that Garmin are well represented within the GPS world, I chose the Nuvi over the Tomtom. I was made further confident of my choice when I found the unit for approx £30 less than the TomTom One.
Initial impressions....
On receipt of the unit I was impressed with just how small and neat it was - I was, after all, comparing this unit...

Garmin NUVI 660T
Review of Garmin NÜVI 660T by
scottykins
Advantages: Clear mapping, robust, good range of options, highly portable
Disadvantages: Sometimes tells you theres a junction when there isn't
...The Garmin NUVI 660T is a very robust and solid unit. Very clear mapping, good options for configuration, and generally, it gets you where you want to be (which is good!). At times it tells you to turn when actually it's just a bend in the road, but its better than ending up in the hedge! You can also walk with this one as the charge holds really well compared to other rival satnavs. The upsides? Robust, clear mapping, clear voices (though they can all be annoying, particularly when you go the wrong way!), good range of options and highly portable. Handy if you can't find your way to the shops! Downsides? Sometimes tells you to turn when there's no junction and sometimes sends you the wrong way down a one way street (yes same as the rest!). Overall though, with the most up to date mapping, this is an excellent sat nav!...

Garmin Nuvi 310 Reviewed
Review of Garmin NÜVI 310 by
amitahuja
Advantages: Compact feature packed touchscreen, travel kit, mp3 player, bluetooth, phone dial pad, reads phone directory
Disadvantages: volume performance needs to be improved if it can be used as a mp3 player
...Garmin Nuvi 310 is an excellent piece of kit for people looking for affordable compact navigator with lot of features.
Features
Navigation
I have bought UK maps preloaded, and the navigation menu provides options to go to an address or search from custom POI list, like Food, Fuel, Lodging, Intersections, Attractions, Shopping, Parking, Entertainment, Recreation etc.
It also gives options to search a custom POI nearest to a location/address which I find very usefull, if you want to check facilities available at an address where you are going.
Bluetooth Integration
Using bluetooth you can take calls on Garmin and it has got good speaker + built in microphone, also a dial pad to dial directly from Garmin touch screen. Please do not use this feature while driving as this is dangerous and risky as it can distract the driver.
Travel Kit...

Garmin Nuvi 200w Sat Nav System
Review of Garmin nuvi 200W by
danmclovin
Advantages: Easy to use, does what it's suppsed to do!
Disadvantages: Satellite pairing takes ages, no mains charger!
...of the past, much like tv's. After extensive researching, price comparison and review reading, I came across the Garmin Nuvi 200w, and a sat nav system that seemed to impress greatly, so i decided to take the plunge and bought one.
Much like many of the reviews I had read on the Nuvi 200w, my first impressions of it were very good. I bought the system off the Littlewoods website, as it had been reduced in a seasonal sale that they were having. This meant that the system was on offer for around £30 less than on any other reputable site that I could find it on. The product was well packaged, securely and compactly fitted to an inner cardboard shelf, that meant that the sat nav was unable to move or rattle within the box, therefor limiting the chance of damage during postal delivery to a minimum. Included in the box was the Nuvi 200w sat nav system...

Garmin or not to Garmin - TomTom is the question
Review of Garmin NÜVI 360 Europe by
andynf
Advantages: Accurate mapping, ease of use, effective traffic avoidance, non-irritating voice, Text-To-Speech announcements
Disadvantages: Garmin website is not the most simple to use
...The Product - Garmin Nuvi 360T Europe with TMC Receiver.
Date Purchased - 04 Jan 2007.
Let me begin by explaining that I spent some time researching this field before I made up my mind. I spent a considerable amount of that time with the belief that I should buy a TomTom as they have been on the market for what appears to be the longest, and are a recognised brand. After all, 'you get what you pay for' I thought. However, having researched the market I discovered that there were some issues that I had to consider.
May I suggest a few steps that are well worth taking before you part with your hard earned cash:
1. Decide what you actually want. Do you want European coverage, and do you want it at city level or street level? Do you want to be able to divert around traffic build ups?
2. Decide what you are prepared to spend...

Get There With A Garmin 760
Review of Garmin nüvi 760 GPS receiver by
raregreyastra
Advantages: good battery life and good instruction manual
Disadvantages: sometimes slow software and have to pay for camera feature after 30 days
...it for free which they did for me when I bought it.
The features it has include the following…
Anti sunlight glare 4.3 inch display screen with touch screen feature
Nav-teq mapping system
Postcode searching
Secure Digital (SD) card slot
Integrated FM Wireless Transmitter
Bluetooth Hands Free Calling
The battery life is really good with this system and the manufactures say it lasts 4-6 hours I keep mine plugged into the car charger a lot of the time but I have known it last at least four and a half hours on its battery life and still have more left.
The Garmin 760 GPS receiver comes with
Nuvi 760 Sat Nav
Car Window Fixture Mount
Safe Away Carry Case
In-Car Battery Charger
USB Cable
Instruction Manual
I found the instruction manual really good even though the sales person in Halfords explained most of the features there was still more...

Navigation - all in one
Review of Garmin nüvi 670 GPS receiver by
hauran
Advantages: supports many usefull functions
Disadvantages: low quality built-in repro
...Garmin nuvi 670 GPS has got widescreen 4.3", supports Bluetooth and even mp3 player is not missing. The display is really big
with resolution 480x272 16:9 is very comfortable to look at the map. The device is equipped with Bluetoot, so your connection to mobile phone
will work as a handsfree with microphone included and repro. Extremely sensitive reciever allows you to recieve GPS signal in cars with
front window heating, where you normally have to use extern reciever.
Transmitter
it works very well with your car audio. Navigation will offer you for example freq. 91.5FM and you can use it on your radio to hear navigation, MP3 at once
you can add mobile phone if you connect it via Bluetooth.
Handsfree
handsfree works fine - when the mobile phone starts ringing, the navigation switches automaticly to the phone status and you can recieve...

Nice unit, let down by the software.
Review of Navman ICN 720 by
Bigjawa
Advantages: Large touch screen, solid mount
Disadvantages: Useless mapping for Northern Ireland, slow GPS aquisition.
...Having become a convert to sat-nav after having use of a Garmin Nuvi, I thought that the higher spec ICN720 would be a fine accessory for my car, how wrong could I be!
First impressions were good, a solid looking suction mount, decent quality mains and in-car chargers, CD's with european maps and an instruction manual that looked like it was for an F-16. The unit itself was a hefty device, and looked well.
Switching on for the first time, I was expecting to wait a while for a GPS fix, nothing unusual, when the GPS finally fixed, I was expecting it to show the street I was standing in, insted it said "Go to nearest road", which was 2 streets away, I thought this was funny so I decieded to take a run round the area. Then I discovered the pitiful map coverage of N.Ireland, a 4 lane A-road, less than 3 miles from the centre of belfast, was...
