...British Gas I felt I had to write this review after having to deal with this company for the first time and being pretty disappointed. Having moved into a new flat and coming from a flat where all the bills were included in the rent meaning never having to deal with all these companies and now having to set up all the new accounts for things such as electricity, gas and water I found this company particularly tiresome to deal with. We were meant to phone up on the day we moved in to the new flat and pass over all the readings on the meters and the correct information to set up new accounts and the such like. Advantages: Large company, synergy, many products offered.
Disadvantages: Price hikes, deparments don't talk to each other

...UPDATE 28.11.08 When I wrote the review below, prices had gone up by 50% since January 2008, with British Gas agents profusely blaming rise in oil prices for rises in both Gas and Electricity. Fair point? By July oil was at a record $147 a barrel at its peak. Since then oil has collapsed to a 2 year low of $52 a barrel and still falling, I spoke to British Gas about this -- they say that gas is already in the system paid for at the old prices! On Radio 4's Today program, they continued along this line when pressed about price rising the moment oil goes up, but stubbornly high when oil comes down. Remember, not a penny has come off gas or electricity - yet when the first wave of oil price rises began in January 2008, gas prices went up by 15% and a further rise of 35% in August. ...and again was put on hold for what seemed like ages. When they finally answered they took my details and told me that someone would come and connect my supply the following Saturday morning between 8am and 1pm. The next thing I did was ring the council, because they had told me that as soon as my gas and electricity supplies were connected they needed to come out and do a health and safety inspection. They arranged it for the Monday morning after the supply was switched on. I was also told that a pre-payment card would be put in the first class post. Anyway, guess what? Saturday morning came and no-one from British Gas turned up, so Monday morning when the man from the Council came round he wasn?t best pleased when I said that he?d have to come back as I still had no gas. I rang British Gas and they re-arranged the appointment...

Advantages: A very good cooker.
Disadvantages: Not a lot.

..., and this model also features an electronic timer, so you can set it to turn on the oven while you are at work, or even in bed. All these cooker by Stoves are built in Britain. There are glass panels in the doors, so you can see the food cooking, and these can also be removed for cleaning. The oven shelves are adjustable too. You will also find there are two lights in each oven, and a fan in both of the ovens. The gas supply is automatically shut off when you close the lid (Although mine is faulty). All the feet are easy to adjust too. Everything about this cooker is easy, it is such a smooth design, I like it, and coming from me that is a big compliment. Because this cooker has a timer, it requires an electrical connection. The oven handles are an ideal place to dry a tea towel (Not a good idea though) The cooker is very easy to clean...

...well british gas what can i say! i have been a british gas customer for 8 years now. i have a 2 bedroomed house and 2 children. i have a gas combi boiler but no gas fire and no gas hob ( so the only time i use gas is for hot water and heating) my payments for gas and electricity have been roughly the same for years now. i paid approx 25 for gas and 36 for electric ( a month by direct debit) i always get a rebate in the summer on both ( roughly £30) so i was more than happy with this account, i never missed a payment and never had any trouble. well recently i was alarmed to receive a letter telling me that my gas was going up to £49 and my electric £64 a MONTH! i phoned them and asked why and was told that it was a 'restructuring' and could not be changed. i obviously was not happy and immediately cancelled my direct debits i...

British Gas - absolute nightmare!

I had heard lots of nightmare stories from friends about incorrect bills due to companies using the wrong meter readings, and I knew that the house I was buying had been unoccupied for some time so I wanted to get it right. So on the day I got the keys, I went out of my way to discover the gas and electric supplier. When I realised it was British Gas I contacted them immediately. Advantages: A fine work by the Deathstars
Disadvantages: Perhaps a little formulaic

...it's quite slow in tempo, but it's certainly got me trying to move in time as I listen. It glides along to a faster finish. A most satisfying start to the album. 7/10 2. "Night Electric Night" The second song is faster in tempo, although does alternate between faster and slower sections building up to a fast finish, which is something I demand and appreciate from the Deathstars. I love the finish of this. It also satisfies and makes me chair-dance. 7/10 3. "Death Dies Hard" I will deny you This world belongs to me This is apparently the first single from the album. It seems a pretty solid choice. To me, it feels like a James Bond theme, and the title certainly sounds Bond-ish. I like it. The keyboards remind me of a-ha, too.
