Airparks Car Parks Gatwick Airport
Advantages: Affordable and Reliable
Disadvantages: Once got date of return wrong, but were resolved this quickly
...Airparks is a company that runs a long term car parking facility at Gatwick Airport. I have used them on 3 different occasions when going on holiday. I usually prefer to use public transport to and from the airport but when the flight returns quite late I like to drive back. To book visit their website (www.airparks.co.uk), select the dates that you are looking to park for and they will quote a price. For 6 days this is in the region of £27 or £4.50 per day, so is not too bad. They are listed on several cashback sites, such as quidco and topcashback, so you can get around 10% of this back. You can pay by credit or debit card (credit cards have a £1.50 fee) and once payment has gone through you are sent a confirmation email with a reference number that you have to take with you when you go.
The car park itself is located just off the A...

Gatwick Hilton
Advantages: Sounds prestigious
Disadvantages: Not good value for money
...to pay - after all, it was the Hilton and big stars and VIPs stay there don't they? They advertised a playstation in the room too, which sold the idea to my other half.
We got there about 3pm the day before the flight and found the place without too much trouble. While hubby stayed with the car outside(there were threats of wheel clamps and no obvious place to park) I went inside to find out what we were expected to do with the car.
The lobby was huge and deserted with an escalator heading upward to "Reception" so off I went. Reception seemed to be miles away at the top of the escalator and adjoining an open plan bar area. I booked in and was given a voucher for the South terminal long term parking. (We were departing from the North terminal but hadn't known that when I booked)The receptionist assured me that we wouldn't be wheel clamped...

Gatwick Airport Car Parking: Review of Ace Parking
Advantages: Chauffer is waiting for you felt 1st class
Disadvantages: None
...and greet on the phone number telling them I was near Gatwick. They once again confirmed what I had in writing from my email. There was a chauffeur very smart waiting for us. A nice form all pre printed with all our details on, a quick damage report done on our car. I would say the damage report took 30 seconds. It was done by the time our luggage was out the boot. I signed and received a card with the return information instruction on it. Saying simply call ace when you have your luggage and they will be there.
1 week later as they promised there was Chris. Our car nice and warm. No damage and a very good service. We would recommend ace to any body.
They did say there selling points where.
1. No Dirty buses
2. No waiting
3. No cold car
4. Children are happier
Chris said it's just a lot easier no matter how the park and ride...

Copthorne Effingham Park - What's there to say?
Advantages: Cheap, adequate and not badly located for Gatwick Airport.
Disadvantages: Spoilt by the sports bar. All-in-all, it's just nothing special!
...Prior to our recent trip to Prague, in the Czech Republic, we decided to stay at an hotel near London's Gatwick Airport overnight in order to facilitate an early check-in. You get into travel mode, you lose anxieties and you don't spend a lot if you use Priceline. Which is what we did.
Searches for a four star hotel proved fruitless. I secretly hoped to net the Hilton (Gatwick South Terminal) or the Sofitel (aka former Le Meridien) at the North Terminal. I lowered my sights to three stars, and was given, in the way that only Priceline can, the Copthorne Effingham Park for UKP 40. A great price. Further research proved that this was, in fact, officially a 4-star hotel. A result. Having actually stayed there, however, I'd have to say that Priceline were probably the more accurate in the ratings game, and I'll go along with them in that...

Stay and Park
Advantages: Very Convenient for the Terminal
Disadvantages: Quite Expensive
...A flight from Gatwick - the only option for our recent holiday to Bermuda - meant we needed one night's accommodation near to the airport itself, to ensure we had no hold ups on the morning. As we would also need 12 nights parking I scoured the internet for inclusive stay and park deals.
This was not really ever going to be a cheap stay because of the parking element. The Sofitel was certainly not the cheapest option but it is attached to North Terminal via a bridge and I felt it was worth paying a little extra for a little bit of indulgence and for the convenience.
The actual rate quoted was £160.85 for the Classic room and up to fifteen nights parking. This however excluded the VAT, which is quite an unusual way for UK hotels to quote rates. The rate was room only and did not include breakfast, which was quoted as...

Holiday Inn, Gatwick
Advantages: Very near the airport.
Disadvantages: none
...I stayed at the holiday Inn Gatwick with my family before and after flying out to the caribbean. It was clean and friendly and even the kids enjoyed it. The rooms were quite spacious with tea and coffe facilities. I even called reception as there was only one hot chocolate between the 2 children, and they were at our room within minutes with more sachets and packets of biscuits. We ate an evening meal there too and it wasn't too badly priced! We got up early the next morning and had a swim before catching our longhaul flight, which used up a bit of energy so the kids weren't too restless on the plane. All in all we loved it and would definitely stay again....

Hilton Hotel, Gatwick
Advantages: Right on the Airport doorstep and connected via walkways.
Disadvantages: NOT cheap!
...This hotel is connected to Gatwick airport making it a cinch to use.
The airport connects to this by way of following the signs along a few coridoors and into the Hotel. If you can get to Gatwick Airport by train, the hotel is quite easy to get to inside, just follow the signs. You stay under the walkways keeping dry and dont have to fiddle about with buses or taxi's.
The rooms are quite basic considering the costs but, quite simply, you are paying for the convenience of not having to fiddle about with getting hotel buses to/from the airport. This is the real crunch of using the hotel.
Naturally the rooms are ok with the usual facilites like on-suite toilets, TV, charge-able mini-bar, large bed unless you ordered a King-size.
The food is pricey, as are drinks, but there is no need to be a captive audiance as its easy to...

A night in a car park.
Advantages: Close to the channel ports. Close to beach.
Disadvantages: Feels like a cattle pen. In the middle of a housing estate.
...Southsea Leisure Park is where I stayed last Friday night with my wife and two stepchildren and firstly I would like to state that "LEISURE PARK" is not what I would call it and I find it misleading. The website states that certain facilities such as swimming pool, golf, fishing, children's play area, and others are onsite or nearby, but fails to tell you exactly which facilities are onsite and which ones are not.
I first booked this site a month ago and found the booking service by telephone very easy. You can also book online at "Southsealeisurepark.com" but you will have to wait for a response. At the time of booking the person who took my call was helpful and polite. As I was only giving short notice of my visit I was asked to pay on arrival which was surprising but useful as I didn't have to hunt down my credit card.
We left...

Car Parking for the Confused
Advantages: easier than a taxi/bus
Disadvantages: could work out expensive, handing over your car keys to strangers
...So as previously mentioned I recently flew to Scotland from Gatwick airport, living where I do I didn't want to be trying to get a train as getting to a train station is tricky and I don't want to be using taxis given how much it can cost to travel 80 miles even when one is prebooked.
So knowing I was flying from Gatwick I used the Gatwick airport website to compare the prices of the nearby carparks, it came up with Park Plus as the cheapest by quite a considerable amount for the time period I was looking at. With a 4am drop off on Friday morning and 4pm latest pick up time on Sunday it cost me £18.60.
Arriving at Gatwick airport you need to follow the directions to the South Terminal and the Long Term Parking, from here you enter the car parks, there are several but Park Plus was one of the first on the left and is clearly...

LONDON GATWICK CALLING
Advantages: Car Parking, no noise, close to airport, just what was needed
Disadvantages: Bit small
...at Gatwick. Buses leave the hotel every half hour on the half hour, and from the airport you ring up the hotel free of charge and they come and collect you. They charge you £20 extra on the bill for this, but it is well worth it. It saves paying for the long term parking for a week which more than pays itself, but also saves all the time and hassle of moving kids and bags to and from the car park to the airport then back again. They keep your car keys in reception, and your car is kept safe in the hotel car park. An excellent service.
Food
*****
The Gatwick Hotel has two eating-places. There is a bar and the full restaurant, both open to the public as well as guests. We stayed for just one evening and passed on the breakfast in time for our early flight. The food was good for one meal, but quite pricey as it was not included. The evening...
