Hilton Hotel, Gatwick

Advantages: Right on the Airport doorstep and connected via walkways.
Disadvantages: NOT cheap!

...This hotel is connected to Gatwick airport making it a cinch to use. The airport connects to this by way of following the signs along a few coridoors and into the Hotel. If you can get to Gatwick Airport by train, the hotel is quite easy to get to inside, just follow the signs. You stay under the walkways keeping dry and dont have to fiddle about with buses or taxi's. The rooms are quite basic considering the costs but, quite simply, you are paying for the convenience of not having to fiddle about with getting hotel buses to/from the airport. This is the real crunch of using the hotel. Naturally the rooms are ok with the usual facilites like on-suite toilets, TV, charge-able mini-bar, large bed unless you ordered a King-size. Hilton - Gatwick Hotel

Advantages: close to airport, comfortable

...I stayed in the Gatwick Hilton for 2 nights; 23rd March and 1st April. As a general overview I wasn't too impressed with the acclaimed Hilton hotel. There was a large group of us (about 30) and we all entered the hotel via the North terminal entrance. This was good as you could walk through a sheltered walkway to the main reception. The reception area itself had about 6 different stations that could have been used for check-in but only 2 of them were in operation (this was at about 6.30 so quite a few people would have been checking in at this time). It took quite a long time to check every one in and our cards were given out. The hotel had only given us 1 key card per room even though 2/3 people were in a room ? as you can imagine this caused problems of people trying to get into their rooms but their room mate not being there. Just a basic airport hotel

...Looking for a hotel to stay in at Gatwick was proving to be quite difficult as I didn't want to pay out a lot for it with it just being for a 1 night stay - however at the same time I wanted to be as near to the airport as possible to make the trip to the airport in the morning as short as possible! After looking up various hotels on the Internet I came across this one and at a cost of just under £50 for two of us for 1 night it was decided that this would fit the bill and so it was booked. The hotel doesn't include airport transfers as does some of the more expensive hotels but at a cost of £3 per person it still worked out cheaper to stay here than to stay at one of the more expensive that did include it in the cost! LONDON GATWICK CALLING

Advantages: Car Parking, no noise, close to airport, just what was needed

Gatwick Hilton

...Three weeks ago my husband and myself went to Austria on holiday. Now, normally, we would book our flight from Stanstead as it's just down the road, so to speak, but as this holiday was a present from one of our daughters and her husband, we accepted gratefully what she had arranged, which was a flight from Gatwick to Salzburg leaving at 6.05am. I didn't fancy spending all night travelling from Suffolk to Gatwick in time for the check in at 4.00am, so we decided to book a hotel close to the airport and travel down the night before. Well, I surfed the net and discovered the Gatwick Hilton for £139 for a double room. It sounded a lot but this also included 15 days parking, which would have cost around £70-80 on its own, and we didn't require breakfast that early in the morning. So, £139 for the room and parking seemed like a small price...

Off-Airport Parking and A Hotel in one

Advantages: Peace of mind, at little extra cost
Disadvantages: All hotels are typical "airport" hotels i.e. not what you would book for yourself.

...frequent use of this service has been at Gatwick, where for some unknown reason we always seem to need an early morning departure. Generally, FHR have booked us into the Checquers Thistle at Horley, about five minutes away by road. The hotel has its own minibus running at regular intervals. On returning, you just pick up the free phone in the courtesy coach stop, and they will tell how long the bus will be - usually, it's already out on the road, and arrives within 15 minutes. On one occasion we have been asked to get a taxi, for which the hotel paid....

...excellent for value for money, and this is whole fair, my headline comments would be as follows; - A very basic hotel. - Very Cheap hotel. - Very Clean. Not where to go for a "Romantic" weekend away venue, if however you are travelling out of Gatwick and particulalry if you need to store a car then this is an option to consider. Holiday Inn, Gatwick

Advantages: Very near the airport.
Disadvantages: none

...I stayed at the holiday Inn Gatwick with my family before and after flying out to the caribbean. It was clean and friendly and even the kids enjoyed it. The rooms were quite spacious with tea and coffe facilities. I even called reception as there was only one hot chocolate between the 2 children, and they were at our room within minutes with more sachets and packets of biscuits. We ate an evening meal there too and it wasn't too badly priced! We got up early the next morning and had a swim before catching our longhaul flight, which used up a bit of energy so the kids weren't too restless on the plane. All in all we loved it and would definitely stay again....

...As you'll know from my hotel review I have just been on holiday (althought it seems like a lifetime ago now!) As we had a 11.45am flight it was to be an early start...2 hours for check in, transfer from carpark and actually getting to gatwick itself (over a 2 hour drive for us) so it would have been very early we decided to stay over the night before. After initially not wanting to do this come the day before our holiday I was quite excited and looking forward to it. The quality gatwick is located on Langley drive, Crawley, which is just a short trip of four miles to Gatwick Airport. On arrival at the hotel we found a place to park in the car park and went and booked in at reception. Advantages: Fast, Clean, buy tickets on the train, with cash, credit card, switch, delta, amex not solo or visa electron. 24hrs, free porters,
Disadvantages: Lack of luggage space (which is being modified for the future)

...At the beginning of the year Gatwick Express recieved the majority of there new Juniper (Electric Trains) 8 in total, at any one time they run 7 trains between the airport and victoria. After many comments from Tourist's and regular commuters on the lack of Luggage space they have recently taken several of the trains out of service to be modified to a higher standard. they also noted that then new trains were a bit bumpy on certain parts of the track to and from the airport making the journey a particulary bumpy one however some of there trains have now been modified to correct this. I also agree with the lady's comment before mine on the lack of refreshments on the new trains which I am told willbe ironed out shortly, at the present time if any customer travels on train numbers 4 or 5 they will now notice that a buffet trolly...
