...After getting myself into the whole iMovie and DV camcorder thang, I realised that the tiny hard drive (10 Gb) in my iBook was not enough (1 hour of DV footage takes up 13 Gb), so I started looking for alternatives. As Firewire is the only high speed connection on the laptop, I looked around. Most 30-40Gb Hard drives for Firewire (Also Sony i.Link) were £250, but I saw this one by Maxtor - 80 Gb for under £350. The Box is smaller than I thought, and Graphite and ice to match the iBook, but it does come with an ugly and propriety power supply. Very fast was my first reaction. It can stream DV footage without any dropped frames - and thats 5 Mbytes/s. So, unless you are doing pro DV or something really demanding there is no point in buying the 75Gb drives out there that cost over £700 - the extra little bit of speed is really... Read review

Advantages: Large storage capacity , very fast, very quite in operation
Disadvantages: a bit bulky but hey i want the storage.

...The reason I brought this drive ? lets see now........ Its from a reliable manafacturer of hard drives. It has 250 GB of storage, it has 16Gb of Ram and its Sata II compliant. Installation was straightforward if your used to pulling stuff out of your PC and adding new bits. PERFORMANCE. Well for me it had a WOW factor of warp 10 very very fast I cant hear it operate have to check the light to make sure its seeking / writing .Took a while to format .....well its 250 GB so worth the wait. I have been using mine now for about 5 months I installed XP pro as the operating system and now its stuffed full of videos my whole CD collection web pages letters photos stuffed and theres still loads more space left to use. I am not going to get technical here if you want that read the manafacturers site. Just say its fast is working fine... Read review

...with backups of university work, and photos (the 3 rules of computing are back up, back up, back up!). Performance It transfers at a very fast rate which in practise turned out to be surprisingly fast. Access time was very quick, so within the hour i had backed up and transferred my files!. I have had no trouble streaming games and movies from my hard disk, with access to files within the disk is as instant as a normal hard disk drive. It can be standing upright. 500 GB for this amount of money is a bargain.... Read review

Advantages: Sturdy Metal Case and efficient fan.

...I have used this computer every working day for the last twenty months, it is turned on at 7.30 a.m. and I work on it till approx. 6.15 p.m. every working day. It is also used after work, sometimes till the early hours of the morning. The rest of my family use it for internet access and my daughter creates digital art upon it and also scans in her pencil and other works. At the weekends the computer is used by the whole of my family for internet access, so it is used every day of the week. The 9150 computer has a metal case which is very sturdy, it also has a very efficient fan at the front behind the fascia, this is easy to get at for cleaning. Advantages: 250GB Lots of memory, Low power consumption, Cheap
Disadvantages: 2.5-inch limits it to USUALLY Laptops but can be used in desktop computers

...Fairly decent hard-drive. Western Digital are a well trusted company, especially for computer equipment. 250GB is a massive storage device, you could store ALOT and with low power consumption makes it even better. Looking at the prices too this is a real bargin! I really recommend this hard-drive, the real-time data protection will help if your computer ever shuts off. It is also a 2.5-inch hard-drive which usually associates with laptops, however there are some desktop computers which could use this. If you did want to buy this for a desktop computer but your computer could only use 3.5-inch then you could buy an external hard-drive shell which could plug straight into your computer OR laptop through USB or Firewire. Overall I think this is a very nice hard-drive and a good bargin at the price it's avaliable for.... Read review

...ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro is the perfect graphics adapter for the budget gamer. This card is in my system consisting of Gigabyte M52L-S3 with the AMD Athlon 64 3500+ and with 2 GB of DDR2 singelchannel RAM. In this setting, I have the standard 256 mb shared to 512 mb, with the top of 1 GB. This card is very fast. In my processor review, the fps shown for these games are done with this card. Only drawback is the lack of analog output. There are two HDMI outputs and a s-video, so you can hook up 2 HD TV sets. I tested it with two 32" HD screens and the card played a 2K film without any lag and distortion. Currently, I have a 19" widescreen LCD on it and it runs anything smooth and undistorted. My only problem is with 128 bit memory interface. As I use solid edge and other editing programs, this is not as smooth and fast as expected... Read review

...hard drive, i also wanted to have a backup of everything that is on my laptop, this my book allows me to do this, as i only had 2 usb ports on my laptop, i also had to buy a one to 4 usb hub to give me more inputs for example my mouse, webcam etc, this only cost me 5 pounds and may not be an issue to yourselves. soon after buying this, my flatmate bought the very same package, mybook 250 gb and a usb hub. overall i tihnk its a great buy, its great value, looks great and does the job very well.....what more can we ask for?!... ...Seagate have always made great hard drives and this is no excepetion it reads and writes fast. This drive is one in a new range of seagate drives that use perpendicular recording technology, meaning more space per platter. There is only one bad point to this drive and that is the noise you can here it read this may not be a problem for some but compared to the samsung hard drive I also have in my pc, the seagate makes the most noise (you cant hear the samsung). Good points for this drive include the price its pritty cheap for the price and amount of storage you get, being a seagate you get a nice long 5 year guarantee.
