...As with any GCSE student at this time of year, I am looking for any bit of help I can get at the moments, and the Letts Revision Guides were just screaming out to me. There are 22 books in the series, covering almost all the GCSE subjects, bar music. However, this opinion is concerned with the Mathematic book, which at over250 pages is one of the most comprehensive around. It covers all the exam board, and includes tests, mock exams, revision advice and of course the nitty gritty mathematics stuff. The book is organised into chapters, for example algebra and shape etc… The book costs £9.99, and can be bought as part of a pack, which includes rapid revision cards and GSCE Maths in an hour – which really is not worth it. Advantages: Cheapest GCSE maths revision guide
Disadvantages: Nothing, really

...The first Mathematics revision guide to cater for the new syllabuses and it sets a standard for forthcoming books. Like all the Letts guides it dedicates a whole chapeter to coursework but unlike other Letts guides, I feel that this one is the most comprehensive and the one that I understand the most. The mathematics topics in this book are very well set out and are explained in such a simple manner that everyone will understand. The most important concepts like the Quadratic formula are explained very well and I feel that this guide is the best for algebra at GCSE. On completing the book you are provided with a past exam paper for practice for the real thing - it really does help. Good price, superb book - what more can you ask for?... Read review

...At the moment i am taking my GCSE exams, I am taking 9 exams and for my revision leave I felt I needed as much help as possible buying two sets of GCSE revision guides for each subject. One being 'Letts GCSE in a week' and the other being the CGP revision guides. The two guides are completely different, the Letts tests you and gives you the answers but does not properly explain how to do everything sometimes (this is mainly for maths) leaving you wondering and not actually fully learning the way in answering correctly, where as the CPG teaches you in an easy manner with a small test at the end of every section. With Letts eventhough you do not get given the most detail in the world, you do still learn and it is always good to test your knowledge so you are able to see which areas need working on. ...Now there are lots of GCSE revision guides. Being a student and having taken my GCSE too long ago (brought a lot of these revision CD roms). I have a good experience of how good they are. I have brought 8 or 9 of these CDs from different companies and for different subjects my general feeling was it not too expressive. I feel that they didn't help me much. If i was struck on a topic then these CDs took ages to load up and didn't go into enough depth. I don't think i had learned anything them. There were some CDs which just had questions and answer. Then surely a book with these questions and answers would be better because in the exams we can't do it on the computer but pen and paper. Disadvantages: Can be a bit boring to look at a page for ages.

...on the exams, exam technique and questions they might be asked. This is invaluable because many people, (myself included) do not really know how to revise. The guides are available for most subjects and tiers at GCSE, and workbooks are also available in some subjects. These are books of worksheets with answers included that are very useful for checking what you know. There are also study guides for non-examination subjects in the range, guides for Key Stages 2 and 3, and an AS-level Maths guide. The range is expanding as well, so you might want to check out their website (link below) for more details. CGP revision guides are available fairly cheaply from most book stores, and also through many schools at a discount. Advantages: Well structured CD, Great value for money.

...I am a lazy student who is now at university and I think that the GCSE bitesize revision website is a blessing in disguise for all GCSE students. I know people get the whole, “GCSEs are easy” from older students, but I can appreciate that they are the hardest things to those that are sitting them at the time. I found the website easy to use. It made revision more entertaining and easy, in that all the issues are addressed and especially in math, in an easy to follow step-by- step guide. Apart from it having colours (which most text books fail to have), it has pictures and animations which makes the work seem less boring and a bit more entertaining. When you enter in to the site, you choose your subject, a topic and then a sub-topic. If you read the texts and do the test at the end, you will be very surprised at how much you know. Also... ...I'm in year 11 so I have already done small parts of my final GCSE's. In year 9 we had the S.A.T.S, what a nightmare! But the CGP Maths, English and Science revision guides were fantastic. They had humour, great pictures and clear, useful information. The questions at the end of each section helped you revise and think back about what you had learnt, and gave me a greater understanding of each topic. Thanks to these guides i got straight 7's. The English guide also helped me on my way to getting 100% in the shakespeare exam. I used them in Year 10 for modular Science, and they helped me so much as it was all a confusing mess.
