Feel the power of the GeForce

Advantages: Quality performance without breaking the bank
Disadvantages: Will not satisfy hardcore gamers, poorish installation guide

...Well recently my trusty old (and I do mean old) NVIDIA GeForce 5 card gave up the ghost. TO be honest it wasn't a total disaster, as I had been waiting for it to fail to give me an excuse to replace it. The graphics card was the last thing on my PC to update, and so I started the process of reading reviews, and magazines to try and find a quality replacement without breaking the bank. My search led me to the NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GS card. I believe that the NVIDIA cards are the market leader when it comes to graphics, and so I have always been brand loyal to them. Now I wanted something which would not become obsolete within a couple of weeks of purchase, yet I wasn't prepared to spend £400+ on the top of the range cards as I do not play massive amounts of games which would require such power. Feel The GeForces...

Advantages: No Hardware Conflicts, Runs newish games perfectly
Disadvantages: None at the moment

...This graphics card has kept me good for over a year now and i have found it a perfect compliment to my current setup... My computer is nothing special and i dont see it as a gaming pc but it will run ALL games from within the last year perfectly on full graphics, the game i recieved with the card was Farcry which is a great game and runs perfect on the card with full settings. It is a pci card which is quite good for its kind. i have run 'F.E.A.R' on full settings with this card and it runs pretty much perfectly and i also have played 'Elder Scrolls: Oblivion' on 3/4 full settings and the computer doesnt struggle which is nice for a game of such caliber. The card has never broken or faulted and no hardware conflicts with my other components of which all have been upgraded once or so. The installation is simple...

...). Off to the shops after much consulting with mates, reading of reviews etc. and I end up with an NVidia GeForce2 MX. Is it good? Read on fair viewer... I had the choice of 32Mb with the MX extras or a 64Mb version without. As my existing card had a paltry 8Mb (don't laugh) the 32Mb looked good enough for me and the MX features would partly replace what the Matrox could do (it had video sampling with the MX doesn't have). It's an AGP card but then again all are these days so it's nothing to get excited about. I'll be honest, my existing Matrox card was a delight but a total nightmare to install (just ask anyone who's ever tried) so the first task was to get Windows back to using the standard VGA drivers. No problems so far. The instructions were as usual thrown to one side (real users don't real manuals) and I simply swapped the cards...

Advantages: Fast, Powerful, Inexpensive, Compatable
Disadvantages: Hard to get hold of, Not the fastest card around

...Introduction The GeForce range of cards have been well established in the PC market for many years now. GeForce cards are generally considered to be the very best card for a Computer enthusiast to obtain for many reasons. The main reason is performance, the GeForce cards tend to perform better, and are more compatable than any other card, with excellent driver* support from Nvidia.com (they who design the GeForce chipset). The GeForce range of cards has always had competition,. but in my opinion they are still unsurpassed. Later on in this review I shall mention some of the competitors, and why you should/shouldn't buy a GeForce ahead of them. This review is for the GeForce 3 Ti200 - this is no longer considered a cutting edge card, but is good enough for all but those who demand the very very best performance...

The Great GeForce 8600GTS XXX from XFX

Advantages: everything...
Disadvantages: at my point of view nothing really

...The GeForce 8600GTS XXX edition from XFX, I own this card and is just fantastic, I bought this card because I can't afford the powerful one's at the moment but if you buy this card you will see that is not very much different than the powerful one's. At the moment I am playing Crysis which is a fantastic game and with this card Im able to get about 20 frames per second everything at max, everything at mid I get about 30 frames per second at 1280*1024 resolution which is playable, but you can get a bit more depending on your system. As I said its fantastic, you will also be able to play HD, blu-ray movies with no problem because this card is HDCP fully capable, Direct X 10 and many other features, and for gamers like me if you buy 2 of these and put them into SLI mode if your motherboard support it them my friends it will be awsome....

This is a 3D graphics card for a computer, it is the connection between what you see on your screen and what the computer is outputting. Most cards do the 2D drawing of windows, and the like, without much bother. But when it comes to 3D rendering the gloves really come off. I don't wish to bore you with the technicalities, but this card has 4 RAM (memory) chips on it, and 1 GPU (graphics processor). You can find the speeds of them in the ciao! details. It slips in easily into the AGP (advanced graphics port) slot on your motherboard, and it's the standard size so you won't have any trouble getting it in, unlike those AGP Pro cards. This is not an AGP Pro card, despite the name. Ignoring the GeForce2 MX, the GeForce 2 family...
