Check the agp port
Review of NVidia GeForce 256 by
Omega
Advantages: I learnt something new about the agp slot
Disadvantages: i had to buy more hardware to get the card working
...When i was upgrading my home computer i wanted it to be able to handle most recent and up coming games so i decided to buy the GeForce 256 Pro.
The mistake that i made was with the agp slot which the GeForce uses. After putting the card into the computer i loaded up windows and configured the card. After about 5 mins my internal alarm went off.
I later found out that the GeForce 356 Pro requires a 4x agp slot.
There are only a few motherboards which have a 4x agp slot and most of them are for the AMD. So if you want to buy the GeForce 356 Pro make sure your motherboard can handle it....

Not much to choose between GeForce2 & ATI Radeon
Review of NVIDIA GeForce2 GTS by
CyrixDes
Advantages: very quick, top technology
Disadvantages: cost, equalled by the cheaper ATI Radeon for performance
...Theres no doubting that this is one hell of a quick card. It is on a par just about with what in my opinion is the best buy graphics card of the moment, the ATI Radeon. In the benchmarks i've seen, the Radeon nicks it in some areas and the GeForce 2 nicks it in other areas, however the Radeon is a lot cheaper and therefore in my opinion nicks it overall, despite both being the same for speed. You can get several variations of the GeForce 2 at the moment. Theres a 32 Mb AGP, 64 Mb AGP and probably the most controversial of all, the 32 Mb AGP GeForce 2 MX. This is a cut down version of the GeForce 2 and can be picked up for around £110-00. This is a good price for a card offering things like DDR and performance in between a GeForce 256 DDR and a GeForce 2 GTS.
If you are looking for a quick card at the moment and money is no object...

It RULEZ
Review of NVIDIA GeForce2 MX200 by
Kinny
Advantages: It's the daddy of all graphics cards
Disadvantages: Tell me when you find one.
...A fews years back, may people were buying the Voodoo family of grahpics cards, but now since the tables have turned the GeForce chipset is very popular and proves to be the ultimate winner!!! Anyone that has a GeFoce 2 GTS is very lucky, but to own the Ultra is a dream come true. Unless peopel at ATI can come up with something better, then nVIDIA will stay the people's favourite make of chipset for graphics card. The GeForce 2 Ultra does cost a meaty £350, but for those that are less rich the GTS version is now under £200, which makes it very affordable. And for hardcore gamers, this is a MUST HAVE!!! I do not recommend you look at any other cards, so if your thinking of buying a new graphics card this is the ONE to get. I am sure you will not regret making such a decision. GeForce 2 or Radeon??? The ATI Radeon maybe good, but i...

This card will annhilate you
Review of Creative 3D Blaster GeForce Pro by
jamespugh
Advantages: Very fast
Disadvantages: Expensive
...The Ge-Force 3d graphics cards are the best for any gamer. These ranges of card are the fastest available and will out perform any currently available on the market including the Voodoo 5 series.
The main reason that these graphics are currently the best are:
1: Many have the faster and larger, normally 32mb DDR, which stands for Double Density RAM (Random Access Memory) so that more 3D information can be kept within the card.
2. Fast clock speeds meaning that more information can be processed at high speeds keeping the graphical frame rate high
3:-The Ge Force graphic cards have a separate 3D Processor contained on the card, easing the pressure on your PC processor, so that it can handle other things.
The best Ge-Force has to be the Ge Force GTS that is extremely fast but expensive, and cost set you back £300.
The GeForce...

NVIDIA GeForce 2 MX
Review of NVIDIA GeForce2 MX by
zensei
Advantages: 40% better than TNT2 Riva and Matrox G400.
Disadvantages: Experienced hanging using the card in Win2k.
...GeForce is 40% better performance. than TNT2 Riva and Matrox G400, which works very well. Else, the quality isn't that much change, a little maybe.
This card has it's own properties in the Display Propertis, under Settings->Advanced.
You can set how much memory the desktop is going to use, performance and compability settings
for OpenGL and Direct3D, Overlay color(Brightness, Contrast, Hue and saturation) Monitor timing.
Using a AMD K6-2 450 3D-NoW! processor, with 160 Mb RAM, on a Windows 2000 Professional computer
I've experienced that the computer hangs when playing games such as Half-Life Counter Strike, Quake III Arena etc..
I am not sure if it is just my combination of hardware or a general fault, but it may be good to know about it.
It supports up to 2048x1536 in screen resolution, with 32 bit color depth.
GeForce2 MX has 32...

about geforce 2
Review of NVIDIA GeForce2 MX by
smoran
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
...Optimization, that was the word of the day for nVIDIA when they thought about their "Summer Speed-Up" product and gave birth to the GeForce2 Ultra. Not only was the hardware optimized but the software was trimmed down to fighting weight as well. The basic functionality of the GeForce2 Ultra is the same, as well as the drivers, with the exception of the GeForce2 MX's Twin View and Digital Vibrance Control However, everything has been buffed out and turned up a notch such that it almost feels like a totally new product. We don't often get a product in the door here that leaves us amazed but the GeForce2 GTS Ultra with its new Detonator 3 Drivers. We were genuinely impressed. For now, it is the fastest 3D Gaming card on the market in the UK. Go get one !!!

LEadtek GeForce 2 MX 32Mb
Review of NVIDIA GeForce2 MX by
Andy0468
Advantages: price against performance
Disadvantages: not as good as a GeForce 2 GTS, but its half the price!
...The Leadtek Winfast Geforce 2 MX graphics card is just one of the video cards available at the moment using Nvidia's GeForce 2MX chipset. This chipset is a cut down version of the GeForce 2 chipset, as used in the high end GeForce 2 GTS graphics cards. This has resulted in the availability, to you and I, of cards that can produce graphics that only a couple of years ago would have only been seen in military grade simulators, and all for around £100.
With 32MB of single data rate memory, this card has ample for all but the greediest of Gamers, and supplied as standard with an Svideo TV-out connector, it'll also work on your TV with the appropriate leads. One of the clever things about the GeForce 2MX chipset is something called TwinView, which means that you can output the video signal to your monitor and your TV at the same time...

Cheap, but lacks power
Review of NVIDIA TNT2 M64 by
Dooyoo_Rules
Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: Slow
...The TNT2 M64 is the budget version of the TNT2 by NVidia. The TNT2 has since been superceded by both the GeForce and the GeForce 2, so it isn't exactly hot new technology.
It is however a good budget option and beats the integrated Intel 810 or 815 graphics to the ground.
It comes with either 16Mb or 32Mb of RAM, and features a 300Mhz RAMDAC. It comes in both PCI and AGP, with the AGP supporting from 1x to 4x.
General Windows performance is good, and it is fast enough to support high resolutions at high refresh rates.
Where it falls down slightly is games. It isn't bad, but it isn't good either. Brand new games are OK but can't be run in the highest resolution. A balance must be made between performance and looks, and if you've just spent a £1000 on a new PC you don't expect this.
At only around £70 it is cheap, but then you can buy...

Ge-Force power
Review of NVIDIA GeForce3 Ti 200 by
vijar
Advantages: Super fast games and crystal clear graphics
Disadvantages: Very expensive!
...This is the graphic card ive been been wanting for quite a while. But at a price of £400 It seems a bit on the expensive side. But this is no ordinary graphics card!
Powered by the new NVIDIA nfiniteFX engine and the Lightspeed Memory Architecture, the GeForce3 GPU enables users to look into a rich environment instead of just a computer screen. 3D scenes have ambiance with the GeForce3 because textures appear photo-realistic and custom lighting heightens the drama. Characters and living creatures have organic imperfections and unique expressions—you can see their personality. Programmability and performance combine to provide the catalyst for this graphics revolution.
Graphics Core:256-bit
Memory Interface:128-bit DDR
Fill Rate:3.2 Billion AA samples/s
Operations Per Second:800 Billion
Memory Bandwidth:7.36 GB/

Stonking card - 3Dfx and Nvidia fans watch out
Review of ATI RADEON DDR by
CyrixDes
Advantages: excellent performance, good specs
Disadvantages: probably be expensive on initial release
...ATI have always had a reputation as the nearly boys of the video card market. They have always been able to produce reasonably cheap video cards, with excellent DVD playback and TV Out facilities, in fact the best video cards for DVD playback are ATI cards. However whilst releasing cards like the Rage Fury MAXX, theyve always been a couple of months too late in terms of releasing their cards in comparison with the competition. However I have it on very good advice that theyve made the break through with their new 64Mb ATI Radeon DDR. I have seen a number of interesting benchmarks pitting this card against the Voodoo 5 5500, a couple of GeForce 2's and a GeForce DDR 256.
Before summarising these results I ask you to remember that the ATI card is on its first release, non tweaked drivers, whereas the GeForce cards are using NVIDIAS...
