...of buying it, for an extra £30 I could have got a card that would still be good today. My advice for people who are not sure about graphics cards, keep to the well know brands, pay attention to the core speed, memory speed, whether its ddr/ddr2/ddr3 and how many pipelines it has(think of it as traffic on a 2 lane motorway is slow but then 2 more lanes open and traffic goes faster, the more lanes the less bottlenecking). If you have to save money maybe think about buying a card from a good brand but with less features or smaller amount of memory. Don't know if it's just me being unlucky or it's the GeCube brand use cheap PCB and chips even though the core is ATI....

Radeon 9550 - superb card

Advantages: quality, reliability, durability, price, specs
Disadvantages: none for this price range and production date

.... This graphic card I bought to my brand new PC about 5-6 years ago and it is still sitting there. Straight away have to point how good and durable this card is. For all this years I haven't had any troubles with it, even haven't had to remove it from AGP socket, except of cooler routine cleaning. I bought it because of high parameters and good specification when using graphic programs. Obviously I mean high parameters like for 2001 year. I have to admit that I was rendering images and scenes from 3ds max, editing pictures in Photoshop Corel and other similar software and Radeon was doing great job every single time. Have never failed me and probable because of this fact is still in my PC. For general purpose use this 9550 is absolutely efficient enough and there is no need to buy other more expensive cards. XFX ATi Radeon HD 4870 1GB, a great graphics card.

Advantages: Can run almost every game on highest settings, easy to overclock, very good memory speed.
Disadvantages: No PhsX so some games can't run properly or even at all sometimes, some old games dont work.

...The XFX ATi Radeon HD 4870 1024MB GDDR5, is undoubtedly one of the best cards you can buy within it's price range (to name a few the Nvidia GTX 260, the Nvidia GTS 250 and the ATi 4850) it is able to play almost every modern game at highest settings at a playable speed. I say almost because because some games require Nvidia PhsX, and I say modern because some old games don't work on the graphics card, Quake III for example. Although Deus Ex Works, as do all of Valves games and Diablo II does, but it has graphical issues and can mess up the placement of your windows. Radeon Power All The Way

Advantages: Superb graphics at no loss in frame rate

...After trawling the net for suitable PC's - I decided to build my own one with the help of a friend - well he built it and I paid (and watched and helped a little!). The Radeon 9800SE Atlantis was first for choice based on its cost and the quality of graphics and frame rate. The installation process. I finally opted for Sapphire's version of the Ati Radeon 7000 model. It cost about 28 pounds at the time, and is possibly the finest budget card I've come across. One of its main advantages is its stability, I used a tool called Riva Tuner to overclock it somewhat, the heatsink handled it fine! The Graphics Revolution: ATI Radeon 9800

Advantages: Small, practically weightless, high tech, durable, gives you KILLER graphics, perfect for games.
