The most 'Bang for buck' card out there
Review of XFX GeForce FX 5900 by  Soadfan1

Advantages: Powerful and cheap!
Disadvantages: None really.

...if a lot of objects came on the screen at once but for the most part it was now fine! Score 1 to the 5900 FAR CRY: As you may already know the Far Cry engine is the most advanced engine in a game currently out and it requires a HUGE amount of hardware to play it perfectly on. the 5900 however allows it to be run at the res of 1024x768 with details to very high or high and have no lag, and at this setting it looks absolutely jaw-dropping. However they may be some of you who want the higher resolutions, such as 1280x1024 or even 1600x1200, if you want these with everything turned up you are going to have to buy an even more powerful card, as the 5900 is powerful but its not totally top of the range! This card also has a huge overclocking potential, the 390 Mhz core can easily be overclocked to 420 using a geforce tweaker and the memory... Read review

The top end of the XFX line
Review of XFX FORCE FX 5950 Ultra by  Soadfan1

Advantages: Great performance
Disadvantages: Heavy cost

...are the basic specs compared to the 5900 I reviewed before and compared to the 5900 Ultra. Clock core speed (MHz) Memory Clock speed (MHz) 5900 390-400 700-720 5900 Ultra 450 850 5950 Ultra 475 950 You can see that the 5950 beats the 5900 Ultra by 25 MHz in the clock core and 100 MHz in the memory clock; it’s the memory clock where the 5950 will slightly better the 5900 Ultra. Installation as with the other XFX cards is mostly a breeze, although if you have never installed a large card before you may find it a little difficult at first, once up and running installing the drivers is simple. This card is also highly overclockable, as are most of NVIDIA’s Geforce series, it easily reaching clock core speeds of 490 and memory... Read review

The ultimate Graphics card, Within Reason
Review of PNY Verto GeForce 6 6600 GT AGP 8X by  Mustang2K

Advantages: Very, Very fast, Stunning Graphics, Very Reasonable in Price
Disadvantages: Can be heard when playing a game with no sound, can get quite hot

...I had ordered a copy of battlefield 2 for my PC and at the time was running a geforce 4 mx440, and I knew this combination would be absolutely useless even if it did get the game to run, so I went in search for a graphics card, which would play brand new thirsty games for a few years to come and that is compatible with my AGP socket. I looked atround at the different brands available, ATI and Nvidia, and strook of ATI quite quickly as I didn't know much about their model numbers. I then looked through the Nvidia range which was quite a lot of fun. I initially was going to opt for a geforce 5500 but i discovered this was a very low end card and would only marginally beat my exisitng card. I then upped the anti so to speak and looked at the geforce 5900 range. This looked promising with some good write ups, and the one i settled... Read review

GeForce4
Review of NVIDIA Geforce4 MX by  Silence2

Advantages: Smooth running powerful series.
Disadvantages: Somewhat noisy and drivers could be better.

...and not nearly as sleek. However, for a cheap price of around 80 bucks I highly recommend the 5200 to all modern gamers. NVidia is a great company for less recent cards, cause that 9800 blows NVidia outa the water! (Yes even the 5900)... Read review

MSI Geforce FX5900-VTD128 Graphics card
Review of MSI FX5900-VTD128 by  Dave_UK

Advantages: Fast, Well-priced, Stable
Disadvantages: none

...Overview ***************** Today I will be reviewing the latest addition to my customized PC setup – MSI’s Geforce FX5900XT-VTD128 graphics card (bit of a mouthful, that one!) The board is manufactured by a company called MSI (Micro-star International) that many of you will have heard of. For those that haven’t, MSI are a massive computer electronics company, and manufacture all kinds of computer-related kit – from a vast range of motherboards and graphics cards, to optical drives such as CD and DVD readers/writers. My DVD writer is made by MSI – as is my motherboard (K7n420Pro, reviewed here on dooyoo). They make decent products at a decent price, and I am very happy with my purchases. This particular graphics card is built using NVIDIA’s Geforce FX5900XT chipset - more about that below… Chipset ***************** The Geforce FX... Read review

An Upgrade Was Essential!
Review of XFX GeForce FX 5900XT by  lunaticrik

Advantages: Very High Spec, Very Compatiable
Disadvantages: Highish price tag.

...Since purchasing my first PC over two years ago now, I have only ever owned one graphics card, the impressive-back-then-not-too-impressive-now Nvidia GeForce 3 Ti200. With its 128mb of ram and impressive specification it played games with no trouble from Grand Theft Auto 3 to Need For Speed Underground. With the release of DirectX 9.0c and many new games namely Doom 3, NFSU2 and the upcoming GTA San Andreas I decided to bite the bullet and get a new graphics card so I can continue my hardcore gaming habits with the releases of now and the furture. I initially went out for the impressive Radeon ATI 9800 but for some reason, probably due to the christmas season, these seemed to be unavailable everywhere. I was browsing at my local branch of Maplin Electronics I came across the uniquely packaged Nvidia Geforce 5900xt for the quite... Read review

X Marks the Spot
Review of XFX GeForce FX 5700 Ultra by  poozle

Advantages: Very Fast for price
Disadvantages: Now surpased by the 5900XT

...As you can see from the image the box this product comes in is shaped like an X. I have yet to work out the reason for this but it sure does make an impact when you see it. If you have not heard of XFX they are a ocmponent manufacturer that work with AMD and Nvidia to create motherboards and graphics cards. Obviously this is one of their graphics cards and in future, I will definately look out for their name when searching for hardware. Now, onto the performance, if you know about Nvidia graphics cards then you will know that this is one of 3 of their mid range graphics cards, the 5600(Ultra), 5700(Ultra) and the 5900XT. Of these the 5700 Ultra is at the higher end of the midrange, although not as powerful as a 5900XT, although that will set you back an extra £30 or so. I actually used this in a system I built for a friend and he... Read review

Ultimate 3D Performance
Review of MSI FX5900U-VTD256 by  Weltmeister

Advantages: Outstanding performance; Good bundle
Disadvantages: It's *very* big; Hefty price

...Beg on the streets, work night shifts, even rob a bank if you have to! This graphics card is an essential buy for anyone wanting high-end 3D graphics, but it comes at a price... Nvidia is back on top form after a lapse which saw ATI getting too much attention, with the Geforce FX 5900 GPU. You may remember the older Geforce FX 5800 card marketed a few months ago, which was almost universally criticised for its noise, with people nicknaming it the 'hairdryer'. Thankfully, Nvidia took notice and gave us a much more desirable, and less aurally damaging solution in the form of the FX 5900. This version of the FX 5900 boasts 256 MB of video memory, twice that of non-Ultra cards. Technically, the GPU's are the same, although the Ultra cards have a higher clock frequency, but that doesn't mean you can't overclock them even more. The first... Read review

GeForce actually THINK they can win against ATi
Review of XFX GeForce FX 5900 Ultra by  Jazzyg85

Advantages: Good game bundle, Racing Simulator 3, Comanche 4, and Ghost Recon, High end performance and vivo (video in video out)
Disadvantages: Too expensive, ATi equivalent still leads

.... It usually jerks with midrange graphics cards but my new graphics card handled the game without any struggle. But then I realised, after playing a couple of hours, that I wouldn't need VIVO. It was of no use to me. That would have saved me around £30 and I could get better performance and quality from ATi for a cheaper price. I could have just bought a Radeon 9800XT/TVD. Which I did buy afterwards. The bottom line is, this is an excellent graphics card but the price is too hefty and has features like VIVO that most people dont even need. I would recommend an ATi instead of a GeForce to a serious gamer.... Read review

Spend a little extra and go for the 5900xt!
Review of XFX GeForce FX 5600 by  Soadfan1

Advantages: Fairly cheap, Good for older games
Disadvantages: Not very good for todays games or even some of yesterdays

...No fancy titles here, just one statement thats straight to the point, you see I purchased the XFX 5600 with an understanding that it was a decent mid range performer that would replace my ti 4200, but what I found after was it was really more like the top end of a low range band of gpus. First of all theres the attractive box, a 'sexy' X shape with some sort of robotic Lynx on the front symbolising raw power and speed, then theres the advertising on the back. 'EXTREME GAMING HEALTH WARNING' people with high blood pressure, back, or heart problems should not use this card, the unmatched graphics quality may too to exhilarating and realistic. (We're just kidding it's all good, XFX products are safe.)' Marketing at its most laughable since at the time the cards it was supposed to be replacing( the Geforce 4 ti 4200 and the ti 600...
