Advantages: gentle yet effective in blemish removal and daily cleansing Disadvantages: strong lavendar smell
...I was blessed with lovely skin throughout my teens only to be plagued by acne and sensitivity in my early 20's.. finally went to a salon and had my "skin mapped" by a dermalogica specialist and was given a prescription of products suitable for me:
i finally bought special cleansing gel, antioxidant hydramist, active moist moisturiser, multivitamin thermofoliant, skin hydrating booster and will review each seperately. This review will be focusing on the special cleansing gel.
I bought a 500ml bottle costing £35, while this seems steep it actually works out cheaper in the long run as the cleanser should last you 8 months at least (mine has lasted almost 9 months and both myself and my 60 year old mother been using it twice a day). The ingredients are very concentrated so you need literally a pea size amount each wash.
The packaging is...
Advantages: Leaves hands germ free, smelling great and feeling good Disadvantages: None
...I brought a bottle of Carex Hand Gel last week on the recommendation of a friend. I purchased it from Boots but it is available to buy from stores such as Superdrug, Savers, Lloyds Chemists etc. Apart from when visiting hospitals, using hand gel is something which I have never really thought about in the past, but with all the negative press nowadays on virus's such as MRSA and Swine Flu being on the increase then I have now realised that little measures such as using hand gel can help stop the spread of germs and bacteria in my household, making my family less likely to become infected with such diseases.
~The Product~
Carex Hand Gel comes in a handy 50ml clear plastic bottle, making it a perfect size to carry around in your handbag. It comes with a pump-action spray lid with a nozzle that is able to turn 360 degress. The gel...
Advantages: Only need a little bit, excellent product Disadvantages: a bit pricey!
...I have been using Dermalogica products for around 6 months now - I was a Clarins addict before but I found that after a while it wasn't working as well as it used to. So Dermalogica was recommended to me by a family friend. I had always seen good press coverage of it but had never really seen it in the shops. I now know that you either need to buy it from an authorised retailer or on the internet. What I think really sells it for me is that it is formulated my actual dermatologists rather than cosmetic companies & the ingredients are all natural so you know what you are using, which I always find reassuring.
Anyway to the product! Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel is very special to me. It is soap free which means it doesn't dry out your skin, it is a clear slightly runny gel and you only need a tiny amount for your face which...
Advantages: not expensive Disadvantages: none really
...Cuticura ? Hand Hygiene Gel
As I am currently pregnant and really don?t want to get the flu I decided to try and protect myself a bit with using a hand gel which would kill any germs on it.
It meant that when I was out and about I could discretely use the gel and not have to wash my hands (as it is not always possible).
I found this hand hygiene gel in one of the chemists on offer for £1 so I thought I really didn?t have anything to lose in trying this certain brand name.
**WHAT IS IT**
It is a hand gel, which is a hygienic alternative to washing your hands. It can be used when you can?t get to soap and water easily. Maybe if you were in unhygienic circumstances (for example public toilets) and there was no soap available then you could use this gel.
Another example may be if you are getting food out of a fast food...
Advantages: not expensive Disadvantages: doesn't work very well
...Tesco Value Styling Gel
**WHAT IT DOES**
It is a styling gel to help create your won style. It's a wet gel, which dries into your hair. It means your hair will stay in place as the gel hardens.
**PACKAGING**
It comes in a reasonably large tub, which is made of flexible plastic that is see-through. You can see the blue gel, which is bright in colour and is eye-catching. It has a screw lid, which is white. The tub is waterproof and durable. On the front there is a white label with red writing and boarders. The Tesco value logo is on the front, which is red and blue. On the sides there is additional information on the product in blue writing with blue and red boarders.
**INGREDIENTS**
Aqua, Triethandamine, Carbomer, Polysorbate 20, PVP, Diazolidinyl Urea, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Methylparaben, Parfum, Benzophenone-4, CL...

Review of Tesco Styling Gel
Advantages: purifies the skin without over-drying it Disadvantages: a bit more expensive so not affordable to everyone
...Praise the day when I found Dermalogica skin care!
I never go anywhere without Special Cleansing Gel. It effectively removes all make-up and dirt without drying out the face. It's suitable for oily and combination skin.
Special Cleansing Gel comes in three sizes: travel size bottle 100ml, normal size bottle 250ml and finally a huge bottle 500ml.
Dermalogica range is a bit more expensive, but a little goes a long way - just a little squeeze is enough for the entire face. It smells ok too. Some facial cleansing gels have a horrible perfumed smell or pharmaceutical smell. Although it contains lavender, you wouldn't even know that it's in there by smelling it.
I recommend using the gel with a facial loofa to exfoliate the skin and deep-cleanse. This is one of the best facial cleansers out there....
Advantages: smells nice, layers and compliments the scent of the perfume Disadvantages: none really, slihtly expensive for some
...Hugo Boss ~ Energise ~ Shower Gel
I bought my husband a Hugo Boss Energise gift set for his Christmas, he has a few Hugo Boss fragrances and he likes the smell of them as do I. Inside the gift set there was a bottle of Energise Eau De Toilette, a tube of shower gel and shaving balm. The gift set wasn't that expensive and only cost me £30 for all three items; when I'm buying perfumes I tend to always buy gift sets because they are better value for money. The Hugo Boss Energise shower gel can also be bought on its own from most department stores if you don't want to buy a gift set.
As you can see from the picture at the top of this review the shower gel is supplied in a silver coloured tube which has a chunky silver screw on/off lid. I think that the tube of shower gel has really simple colouring and design; yet it still...
Advantages: smells OK, lathers well, gets skin clean Disadvantages: nothing special about it, a little pricier than others
...I tend to have a few bottles of shower gel on the go at once - one to suit every mood! I noticed that a lot of my Lush shower gels are approaching their use-by dates, and as such have been using them regularly over the past few weeks to make sure I use them up on time! Having got to the end of all of the others, I was left with half a bottle of The Olive Branch.
When it came to picking a shower gel, nine times out of ten The Olive Branch would be near the bottom of the list. I don't know what it is about this product, because it's nice enough - as I will describe if you read on - but I suppose it just lacks the 'wow factor' I've had from some of the other Lush shower gels I've used, such as Slammer and Snow Fairy.
The Olive Branch comes in the same packaging as the other Lush shower gels (apart from the name on the label...
Advantages: Tastes nice, works well Disadvantages: None
...years should use a pea-sized amount and be supervised to minimise swallowing.
The toothpaste, as you can probably guess by the name, is actually a gel rather than a paste. It's a nice aqua green colour and has a thick, smooth gel texture which is much more pleasant to use than the usual pasty kinds.. It smells minty but it's not too strong.
It tastes really nice, fresh and sweet but not overly strong, and it gives a really nice fresh feeling when you start to brush with it. It gives a really cooling, freshening sensation which gets stronger as you brush, and it forms quite a rich lather in your mouth so it's easy to do your whole mouth using only a small amount. It really does feel like it's cleaning your teeth really well and leaves the whole of your mouth feeling minty fresh, and your teeth sparkling.
It does make my breath feel...
Advantages: smells nice, layers and compliments the scent of the perfume Disadvantages: none really, possibly too expensive for some
...Joop! Homme ~ Shower Gel
Some time ago my husband got a Joop! Homme gift set for Christmas; he really likes all of the Joop fragrances, but Joop! Homme is his all time favourite. The Joop! Homme gift set which he received consisted of a bottle of Joop! Homme eau de toilette, a tube of shower gel and a tube of shaving balm. The gift set wasn't really expensive and only cost about £28-30 for all three items, which is really good value for money considering a 75ml bottle of Joop! Homme eau de toilette costs £30. Most of the time when I am buying a perfume for myself or my husband I always tend to purchase the git set because you get more for your money and you also get the bath and body products which compliment and layer the scent of the perfume.
