Mizar Wars: Return Of Jet Force Gemini
Advantages: Challenging, plenty to explore and shoot
Disadvantages: Frame-rate not steady, silly story, cannot skip ship sequences
...*A review which is primarily based on the single-player experience of the third-person action-adventure game, Jet Force Gemini.*
Jet Force Gemini sees you taking on the evil tyrant of Mizar in a battle across the universe, and although the story, aimed at children (above the age of eleven - thanks ELSPA), can seem silly in places, the plot twists are simply stupid:
[SPOILERS]
When an asteroid is set on a collision course with Earth, an ancient starship is needed as the Jet Force ships won't be able to get there in time. However, not only do the Jet Force Team have to search for the ship parts, but they are also asked to save all of the Tribals - as if this doesn't take time (not the only thankless task which is a pain in the ass)! It's a farce as they would crash the starship on the Asteroid, yet still allow for players to travel to...

As Good As Technics. Nearly.
Advantages: Ahem. They're record decks.
Disadvantages: Where shall I start?
...This year, I took my GCSEs. However, I admit, the grades I got probably could have been higher than they were, had I spent more time working and revising. Now then, I do not go out all that often, live in the countryside, with the nearest town being Bury St. Edmunds, so there really isn't much for me to do. So just how did I not find any time in which to revise?
The answer is that I own a pair of little beauties known as record decks. I didn't get around to revising, because I spent way too much time on them. Whether it be mixing a tape, listening to any new records I may have bought or generally messing around on them, I would do it for extensive periods every day, and shall continue to do so for the foreseeable future.
The decks I own are the Gemini XL-1800s and, although I use them an awful lot and enjoy it very much, I would...

Gemini XL-100
Advantages: Good to start with
Disadvantages: Belt Drive
...I brought the Gemini XL-100 turntable's for my son a few years ago when he first started getting into spinning disk's.
They taught him well and is now using direct drive turntable's as he say's that they are much better for mixing with, but he does not have a bad word to say about the Gemini XL-100's, It's just that they are belt drive and he would rather use direct drive now.
As i said i brought them a few years now and i can honestly say that my son has used them near on every day that he has had them,( which if you where one of my neighbours you would find this a bad thing, they don't appreaciate him playing his music) without anything ever going wrong with them, the only thing that he has had to replace are the needles.
Therefore they where really good value for money. We paid £199 for the package of which you received :- 2 x...

Jet Force Gemini
Advantages: Best Graphics on the N64, surround sound music and SFX, excellent gameplay
Disadvantages: hard to get into, but ultimately rewarding
...Further to the previous comments on Jet Force Gemini, the game, like any has good points and bad points. While JFG may not be as instantly accessible as other comparable offerings, I found it a hugely enjoyable game to play.
For one, the graphics are simply the best I've seen on the N64. Perhaps JFG's imagery doesn't quite come on par with some of the latest offerings on the Dreamcast and PS2, but for a 64-bit console, these graphics as good as it gets. Each surface lovingly textured, each character carefully animated, each shadow, each reflection, spot on. JFG shows off the console to it's best, at the peak of perfection, with a stunning variety of beautiful locations. Whether it's the stunning courtyard outside Mizar's Palace, with it's shimmering floor, reflecting your every move, the dark corners of some underground industrial...

GEMINI's 676 3 Channel Mixer
Advantages: Good looking, many functions
Disadvantages: cheap cross fader
...This is one of Gemini's collection. This company are renound for the quality of their mixers. They can offer the best value for money on the market. This one has these features; high, mid, low, gain adjustment, kill switches, beat LED bars, diffferent out puts & inputs, unassignable cross fader, mic input & adjustment, talk over functuin, 12 second sampler with adjustments in pitch, volume etc (great for echo effects), headphone cue-ing adjustment, reversable cross fader and gradual to sharp fading settings. This was the first mixer I purchased. It is simple to use, easy to set up (plug & play basically). The only problem I had was the cross fader wore out within 4 or so months. However the replacement one costs around £20. The buttons are on securely, they may need to be firmly pushed down upon after opening the box though inorder to...

Review of the Roberts Gemini RD3
Advantages: Stylish, Excellent Music Sound Quality
Disadvantages: Curious Distortion on Speech, Loud Hum from Mains Adapter, No Clock
...I bought Roberts Gemini RD3 (my first DAB Digital Radio) to add to the growing collection of Roberts Radios in my house. I generally ADORE Roberts Radios - their sound quality, build quality, features and reliability have always really impressed me.
However, I have to say the Roberts Gemini RD3 was a bit of a disappointment.
Its main good points are the typical Roberts Build Quality & Looks, and its EXCELLENT sound quality when it comes to playing pop music; it has no problem belting out the bass!
However, I found a number of quirks with the radio which have left me rather indifferent towards it. Maybe I'm too fussy, but my main gripes.....
* There is a curious distortion (like a harsh gravelly tone) when listening to mens voices on the DAB Tuner - a real pain when listening to Radio 4 and other speech-based stations...

Roberts Gemini 3 Portable DAB/FM Radio
Advantages: Excellent reception, audio quality
Disadvantages: Expensive
...but I was put -off by a lack of external aerial socket and the RDS/Radiotext on FM that the Portal 2 had.
In the end, and with the prospect of some birthday money I decided to buy the Roberts Gemini 3 radio.
The Roberts Gemini 3
Well after parting with just short of £140 at Argos it was back home to give my new radio a go and put it through its paces.
I unboxed the radio and found a standard figure of 8 mains lead and a well written book of instructions.
The radio itself unlike the many retro look models around looks a nice modern styling with a sloped control panel and display. The display is backlit green and is continuous on the mains but lit for a short time after a button press on batteries.
I extended the telescopic aerial and pressed the autotune button, not the radio did a thorough scan of the DAB band 3 radio band, finding...

Still the industry standard turntable?
Advantages: Excellent reliablity, accurate pitch control, nice feel to them
Disadvantages: Not so many features compared to newer decks, low pitch range
...are other features which some more modern decks feature which are also absent - there is no reverse mode or 78RPM setting, neither features which I have ever really missed, only noted their absence.
Overall, if you simply want a reliable turntable for mixing or scratching, and you are not bothered by the lack of these features, most of which are superficial in my opinion, then I cannot recommend this turntable enough, particularly if you will be moving them around. If, on the other hand, you want all the features offered by the latest models, it might be worth checking out the latest offerings from Stanton and Vestax....
