...**Introduction** Kelly Clarkson was the first ever winner of American Idol in September 2002 and she released her debut album Thankful the following April after the album's release was put back from November 2002. She is the biggest star of American Idol so far and has won many awards since the American Idol show. I remember thinking when I watched the show that She would be a very big star someday. **Breakaway** On her debut album Thankful she came out with a variety of different tracks but the thing they have in common is that they all have a pop tinge unlike some of her tracks on her next couple of albums which had a stronger more rock feel. ...Of course, most people know the story of Edward Kelly, or more famously, Ned Kelly, the great Australian 'Outlaw'. But why was he given this name. This story tries to paint the picture that writer Robert Drewe portrays in his book, one of the many therorys about the infamous Irish/Australian. And so to the film. It starts out 3 years before the major part of the movie, when Ned, played by Heath Ledger, is wrongly imprisoned for stealing a horse. It then goes to him being released, and met by his friends for a homecoming. Ned decides to be the model citizen, and not give the Victoria Police any more excuses to pick on him and his family, but of course, there's bound to be trouble. Dont breakaway from Kelly Clarkson

...This is by far my favourite Kelly Clarkson album. I have every every album by her so far. Her first album, just after winning American Idol back in 2002 didnt really do a lot for me, a bit too cheesy and 'pop' for my liking. I guess she didnt really have a big say in what she recorded back then. Good news is, her style seems to have changed. Now more toward a pop/rock kinda sound i find im really liking her again. Choice of genre was a little bit of a shock to some listeners, thinking she'd stick to the safe ballad route but good on her for going for something different. Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. ...The Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins was first published in 1976. Even after 31 years of its first publication, it remains an international best seller. Dawkins, an expert in his field (Evolutionary Biology) explains complex biological ideas in a very interesting and lucid way so that even a layman can understand him. In essence, this book explains the theory of evolution by natural selection from genes' action point of view. He explains, through numerous examples that the ultimate goal of any gene is to survive in future generations. To do so, the genes adapt to the environment and if necessary resort to "exploitation" and "deceit"; and hence the name "Selfish Gene". The ultimate Gene Kelly musical

Advantages: Spectacular of dance and song with comedy thrown in!
Disadvantages: Maybe contrived in places, but hey! It's a musical!

...How I wish musicals today were put together in the same way as the great MGM's. If ever there was a film that appealed to such a diverse range of people, then this is it. Taken in the context of the other musicals of the era, it could perhaps be considered weak. The sets, the costumes, the HUGE spectacle of some of the other remembered 'greats' are not quite matched. But in other ways, Singin' in the Rain outstrips them all. Gene Kelly's dancing genius is, of course, the main attraction and it would be true to say that the film is only really a vehicle for it. But the peripheral characters, comedic elements and extremely well written script, make this an all round classic. The dance numbers are full of life, spectacularly choreographed, elegantly executed, and leave you with a huge smile on your face for a good few hours...

...The author of this book, Richard Dawkins, is a professor at Oxford University, so you know that what you are about to read is going to be some pretty neat stuff. The book examines the gene as the replicator of DNA, and how every gene is selfish in that it wants to get itself replicated more than any of the other genes it is competing with. Sometimes however these genes benefit and do better in the presence of other genes than they would do on their own, and so organisms form.
