French Slap Her !

Advantages: Outrageously funny and witty!
Disadvantages: Just pure outrageous and not everyones cup of tea!

...This movie takes slapstick comedy to the max, and you'll either love it or hate it! It appeals to my sense of humour so i quite enjoyed it in a girly sort of way. This movie is full of of raw girl-girl cat fights and bitching. It takes place in America, despite the title, and starts off when Starla grady, the main character, in a Spur of the moment bid to win a beauty contest decides to take in a french exchange Student. Imediately we see through Starla as a beautiful, manipulative, compulsive teenager who uses and abuses people to get what she wants in life. In comes Jenevive Le Pleof, who in contrast seems the complete opposite - shy, well manered, dutiful to Starla, and not at all sexy. .... Despite my initial plan to have a nice evening meal, when it actually came to it, I was too shattered as I had only flown in from Geneve the previous night. We therefore elected for room service, the menu being fairly extensive. The prices were reasonable, I felt. We both opted for a burger which was a high quality Aberdeen steak variety with lovely caramelised onions, and this was around £15 each by the time the tray and service charges had been added on. Once in the hotel we also learned that they did offer an a la carte style breakfast options, and it was possible to order just eggs or omelettes for example, for around £9. Room Service was delivered within a reasonable time frame, despite the fact that the hotel was bursting at the seams that night, and the food was hot. ...My advice is that you NEVER rent a car to Easycar. I rented a car for a week this summer in Geneve. When I reached the airport the instructions were to contact to Alamo Desk. When I reached Alamo desk, they told me that there were no reservation in their reservations system. I have to call back to Easycar in Spain, and after complaining, they gave me no solution. Alamo Desk stated clearly that was Easycar's error, they were also talking to Easycar and told them that no reservation was introduced in their system. I had to find a car by my own going desk by desk to all car rentals companies in the airport, I had to pay for a new car rental again, and a more expensive one as they were no cars available. False Hopes?? Not this time..!

Un Comedie d'erreurs

...Hotel Comedie is a three star property in Geneve's City Centre, on the busy Rue de Carouge. It was business, rather than pleasure that took me there for my recent one month stay. The actual purpose of my trip was also hotel related, in that I was working with a project team on a system roll out for one of the most luxurious brands in the world. Unfortunately, at the time of my arrival they did not have a hotel in Geneve City..and they always book this place for visitors, as it is convenient to the office. The website gives away very little too, in fact it is nothing more than their name and address on a page, suffice it to say I was mildly alarmed at that, but my manager in Geneve had told me on the telephone said he had stayed here for a few weeks and it was ok. Arriving at the hotel by taxi is actually a challenge in itself...

Rotterdam - Avoid Mondays!!

Advantages: The Dutch beers!

...I visited Rotterdam on a P and O minibreak last week. The P and O mini cruises are fantastic value for money because at this time of year (February) two people travel for the price of one. Having previously visited Amsterdam and Bruges with P and O we decided to try Rotterdam. We purposefully avoided travelling on a Sunday because we thought everything would be closed, how we wished we had researched in it properly before booking! In Rotterdam Sunday is not a day of rest, unfortunately for us Monday is. We found that the only things open were The Euromast (quite an experience with a great cafe/restaurant half way up) and the Spido boat which took us on a tour of the harbour. Unfortunately the Genever distillery in Schiedam, the Pancake boat, the markets, the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen (which has work by Dali, Picasso etc...

Addressing my Ignorance on the Red Cross

Advantages: Very interesting, very educational
Disadvantages: Can get a bit confusing trying to navigate around the exhibits

...ignorant coming out than we were going in. I learned a lot more than I'd expected to and I'd definitely recommend a visit if you find yourself in Geneva. Footnote: Ciao asks us to rate this on 'Family Friendly'. I have to say that I wouldn't recommend this for pre-teen children as a lot of the films and exhibits are quite harrowing and I think I would have found a lot of this to be quite dull when I was a child.
